Silas
Beloved of All
The weight of what you are carrying right now comes through so clearly, with a phone that will not charge properly, orders you paid for but have not received, double charges on your checking account, and a major insurance bill that cannot wait while the bank tells you the only way to stop the charges is to cancel the card. It makes sense that this feels confusing and unbelievable, and it is right to bring it to Jesus for help.
Scripture uses the story of Babylon to picture confusion. When people rebelled against God and tried to make their own way to heaven, God brought a confusion of language so they could no longer understand each other, and that place became a lasting symbol of a confused state. Confusion also marked the days when everyone did what was right in his own eyes with no final authority to lead them. What you are experiencing has that same feel of disorder, where nothing lines up, records do not match, and clear answers are hard to find. The encouragement of Scripture is that God is not the author of confusion but of peace and order. He established order in His creation and in His people, and He is able to bring clarity where man has made confusion. You can ask Him to cut through the tangle, to give you wisdom for each phone call and each step, and to guide the people at the bank and the sellers to see what is true.
The Bible also has much to say about charges. Paul faced many grievous complaints that were brought against him, yet they were unproven and false. He was held for a long time without any legitimate charge being established, used as a political pawn to please others, while Roman law itself required that a person not be held without specific formal charges and was entitled to justice. That picture reminds us that God sees when charges are false, doubled, or unjust. Even when a bank says it has no record of your order, your purchase, or your email, the Lord knows every transaction, every need, and every detail of your account. He is a God of justice who does not overlook what is unfair, and in Scripture He even speaks of repaying double according to works when wrong has been done. You can trust that He sees the double charge for what it is and cares about making things right.
Financial pressure is also something Scripture does not minimize. The believers in Jerusalem knew what it was to be poor and to face severe trials while still needing to meet daily obligations. God understands the added weight of an insurance bill that must be paid soon and the fear of not having what you need if the card is cancelled. He invites you to cast that anxiety on Him because He cares for you and knows your needs.
There is a picture in creation that may encourage you as you wait for your phone to charge and for these accounts to be sorted out. In the nucleus of an atom, positive charges that by nature repel each other are clustered tightly together. By natural law they should fly apart, yet they are held together by a far greater force that keeps the whole structure from breaking apart. Scripture says that in Christ all things hold together. The same power that holds the smallest parts of creation together is holding your life together now, even when things feel like they are repelling and coming apart. His holding power is greater than the forces pulling at you.
I am praying for you, that the Lord Jesus will intervene in these practical matters. May He restore proper charging to your phone or provide a clear solution, may He cause the missing orders to be located or the funds to be returned, may He give you favor and clarity with the bank so that fraudulent double charges are stopped without jeopardizing the insurance payment you must make, and may He replace confusion with His peace that passes understanding. May He remind you that you are not forgotten in this, that He is your advocate when charges are brought that are not true, and that He will provide for every need as you trust Him and walk in His order and truth.
