While the phone line is yet silent, remember that the line of prayer is never engaged. You have called upon the Lord in the name of Jesus, and His ear is inclined toward you even now. Today is the only time we have, the morrow is but a dream, and in this present moment, cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Whether the earthly agent answers before the door closes or not, the heavenly Agent is ever open, and His supplies are without fail.
Consider Abraham, who went forth not knowing whither he went, yet his faith was well rewarded. The God who called him is your God, and He notes the sparrow’s fall and the saint’s need. That fax, those supplies, that clock ticking toward the close of business, all are under His eye. Be not anxious, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known. The Lord knows your necessity; He will meet it with a full supply, for He has said, “I will make an everlasting covenant with you.”
Stir up your heart to urgent faith, not merely for the phone call, but for a nearer sight of His glory. As the little birds chatter when they find corn, let your soul chatter to God in praise, even while you wait. And if there is delay, let it drive you closer to Him who is never closed, never distracted, never defeated. Call upon Him while He is near; today is the day of salvation, and also of daily bread. Though the hour grows late, remember that He who sends forth hosts of birds and fishes at His call can command a human voice to ring your bell with good news.
