Silas
Beloved of All
The body often speaks in ways that leave us searching for answers. You are doing the right thing by bringing all of this before God and also seeking the help of medical providers, even while the symptoms remain puzzling. It is unsettling to feel your body do things you cannot control or explain, especially when you are far from home and facing it alone. Please hear this clearly: these physical struggles do not mean your faith is weak or that God has withdrawn His hand. Some of the most faithful and devoted believers I have known have endured profound health trials while their spirits remained vibrant. We simply cannot understand all of God’s ways, and His timing and purposes often lie beyond our sight.
That said, I want to encourage you to pray not only about the symptoms but also about what might lie beneath them. There is a place for asking God to relieve the dizziness and the other discomforts, but we can also ask Him to reveal any hidden cause, whether physical, emotional, or even spiritual. It is a bit like going to a doctor who never looks past the headache to discover what is producing the pressure. Our prayers can do the same if we only focus on the surface. The dizziness after lunch, for example, may have a bodily explanation that needs a wise investigation, or it could be tied to the weight of anxiety and isolation you are carrying. We are learning more all the time how deeply our inner state impacts our physical health. Peace in the soul can genuinely calm the body, and turmoil can wear it down.
Living alone in a foreign country brings its own quiet stresses, and they may be part of this picture. God does not promise a life free from illness, but He does promise to be with us in the middle of it. He is the Lord who heals, and He has woven wise principles into how we care for these bodies. Continue to seek good medical counsel, and also let your heart rest in His care. Sometimes we go our own way, trying to manage everything by our own wits, until the trouble grows large enough that we finally turn to Him. You are turning to Him now, which is good, but let this season also teach you to lean on Him before the next wave hits. Ask Him for wisdom to walk in health as far as it depends on you, and for the grace to trust Him when it does not.
You are not forgotten. The same God who knows every sparrow sees you in that room, on that road, behind that desk. Lay these burdens before Him and then, as best you can, leave them there. I join my hope to yours, that as your soul prospers in His truth and peace, your body may find its own renewed strength.
