We give thanks with you for the calm the Lord granted your son tonight and for His guiding hand over your home. It is good to begin with thanksgiving, for even a little peace in the evening is a mercy from God, and we join you in praising Jesus for it.

You asked for a peaceful night for your son and for your daughter as she begins school, and for rest for your whole household. Scripture reminds us that night itself is a gift of God, a haven and medicine for our weariness when grief and anxiety weigh heavily. He has bound sleep to our nature for our good, even when we would not choose rest for ourselves. And we remember how the disciples were perplexed when they saw Jesus sleeping in the ship as a man, and then rising to calm the sea as God. The same Lord who lay asleep in His humanity and commanded the wind and waves in His divinity is present in your home. He neither slumbers nor sleeps as He keeps His people, and He invites all who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him for rest. He does not call one or two, but all who are in anxiety and sorrow, that He may take away sin and place us in security.

So we stand with you in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ alone, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father, and we ask according to His perfect will:

Father, we thank You for Your mercies already shown. We ask You to surround this son with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Calm his mind and body, ease any discomfort or distress, and grant him quiet and restful sleep without fear or agitation. Let him eat in peace and wake refreshed and joyful. We ask You to rebuke every spirit of fear, torment, anxiety and confusion, and to drive far from him all that would steal the peace You give. Heal him in mind, body and spirit according to Your mercy, for by the stripes of Jesus we are healed. We ask for Your hedge of protection around him, for ministering angels to encamp around him, and for the full armor of God to clothe him, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word.

We pray also for his new schedule and for his caregiver. Grant wisdom, patience and discernment to all who care for him, and to you as his mother. Give him gentle and confident communication, satisfaction in his routines and activities, and freedom from rigid distress. Strengthen the bonds between him and his siblings with love, compassion and unity, and remove division or isolation. Provide godly mentors and friends who will encourage him and help him reflect Your light.

We lift up your young daughter as she starts school and her daily rest. Grant her peaceful sleep and joy in this new season, and keep her and her pet safe. Guard your whole household and all your travels and daily activities. Let Your bright presence fill your home and dispel every shadow, and let where two or three are gathered in Your name know that You are in the midst and hear our prayers.

We ask You to help this family to guard their hearts and to stand steadfast, trusting not in their own strength but in You who keeps Israel without slumber. Lead them to cast all cares on Christ who says, Come to me and I will give you rest. May setbacks be turned to blessing and favor surround this household like a shield.

We thank You for the victories You have already won and trust You for what You will do. In the name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

Thank you for opening your heart and sharing so clearly about your son and your daughter and your home. It is good to hear that the Lord helped your son stay calm through his agitation and it is right to give thanks for that mercy. I join you in thanking Jesus for His nearness and for His care over your children.

The Scriptures show that God sees affliction and hears the cry of the heart. When Leah felt unloved and overlooked, the Lord saw her and heard her, and each son she bore was a testimony that God had looked upon her sorrow and listened to her prayer. He sees your son in his anxiety and sensory struggles, He hears your prayers for him, and He knows every discomfort and every fear. Nothing in your home is hidden from Him.

There is a ladder between earth and heaven, and the Lord stands at the top of it. That ladder is Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. He is not a created being, He is the eternal Son, and the only way any of us can be accepted by the Father is in Him. He that has the Son has life. Jesus Himself asked, do you believe on the Son of God, and then revealed, you have seen Him and it is He who is talking with you. He is still speaking, still revealing Himself, and His invitation is open to all to come and drink of the water of life freely. Your son's peace and your family's hope rest on that same foundation, that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. His miracles and His Word bear witness that He is the Son of God, and His Word cannot be broken. God is not a man that He should lie. What He has promised He will do.

You can take great comfort in the heart of the Father toward your son. In the story of the son who demanded his inheritance and wasted it in a far country, the father did not wait for the boy to clean himself up. While the son was still in his filth, the father ran to him and covered him with kisses and restored him to the place of a son, putting shoes on his feet as a sign that he was not a servant but a beloved son, and calling for rejoicing because the one who was lost had been found. That is how the Father sees your son, not as a problem to be managed but as a dear son to be loved, embraced, and given a place of belonging. The Holy Spirit is seeking and the Father is waiting with joy to receive.

I agree with you in prayer for that peace that surpasses all understanding to guard your son's heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I pray that every spirit of fear and torment and confusion would leave him and that calm and joy and satisfaction would rest upon him. May the Lord remove sources of physical distress so he can eat in peace and sleep without disturbance and wake refreshed and strengthened. May the Lord clothe him with the full armor of God, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. May ministering angels encamp around him and around your daughter and around your whole household and keep you in all your ways, for no weapon formed against you shall prosper. By the stripes of Jesus he is healed, and I ask for healing and restoration in his mind and body and spirit.

I also pray for wisdom and patience and discernment for you and for his caregivers and for your family and friends, and for godly mentors and companions who will encourage him. May the Lord strengthen the bonds between him and his siblings with love and compassion and unity, removing division and isolation. May He give your daughter restful sleep and a gentle beginning to her school days, and guard your family in all your daily activities and travels.

Keep the Word of God bound continually upon your heart and upon your children's hearts. When you go it will lead you, when you sleep it will keep you, and when you awake it will speak with you. The Lord corrects and trains those He loves as a father delights in his son, and His training is proof that you are His. He will be faithful to complete what He has begun.

Where two or three are gathered in His name, He is in the midst, and He hears prayer according to His perfect will. I stand with you in agreement, thanking Him for victories already won and for the work He is even now doing. May His bright light fill your home and dispel every shadow, and may His presence bring calm and joy and safety to all who dwell there. In the name of Jesus, amen.
