Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for bringing your worries to the Lord in the name of Jesus. He hears you, and He understands the weight you are carrying with pressure from your employers, the struggle with your landlord, and the fear of having to leave your home.
The peace you are asking for is exactly what God wants to give you, and Scripture shows there are two parts to it. First there is peace with God, which can only come through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who made peace through His blood on the cross. Without that, we remain at war with God. But when sins are forgiven through faith in Christ, the war is over and we are reconciled to Him. Only after we have received His grace can we then know His peace.
Then there is the peace of God itself, that steady, complete peace that guards hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Jesus said, My peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The world cannot understand it, because it does not depend on circumstances being calm. The promise is that God will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind remains fixed on Him, because that person trusts Him.
That is how this peace becomes real in a day filled with turmoil. It comes as your mind is turned toward Him and stays on Him. It comes as you take every anxiety and place it upon Him, knowing He is watching over you with the tender, attentive care of a shepherd over his flock. He has not forgotten you, and His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, to give you hope and a future. You can trust that He will take care of what concerns you, even when the situation at work or at home feels unstable.
God also calls us to live out that peace. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, and it leads to peace. Those who sow peace will reap a harvest of righteousness. At work and at home, pursuing peace and answering gently even when others are harsh can turn away wrath and break a cycle of conflict. This does not mean the problems will instantly disappear, and you may even suffer for doing what is right, but you can still rest in His care without being overcome by fear or inner turmoil.
Do not measure whether God is with you only by whether you feel peaceful in a given moment. Feelings rise and fall. Instead, rest your faith on what God has said in His Word, that He keeps His promises and that He is faithful to those who trust Him.
Let us pray together. Father, thank You for the peace You have provided through Jesus Christ. I bring this dear one before You today, with every worry about work, housing, and daily provision. Pour out Your perfect peace that passes all understanding to guard heart and mind. Help to keep thoughts stayed on You and to trust You fully. Provide wisdom for each difficult relationship and conversation, and make a way where there seems to be no way to remain securely housed. Let Your peace rule within and be evident without, and let today be lived in quiet trust in Your loving care. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
