Your prayer for your son is heard, and the deep love and burden you carry for him is seen by God. Like the mother who named her sons out of her affliction and her cry for love and for God to hear, the Lord sees your affliction and He hears your voice. He knows the weariness of setbacks after weeks of peace, the restlessness and rigidity around meals, the anxiety and sleeplessness, and the longing for calm and joy to return.
There is great comfort in remembering that acceptance and help and healing come only through Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God. He is not a created being and He is not one way among many. He said that those who try to come to God by another way are like thieves trying to enter by another door. He that has the Son has life. Scripture was given so that we might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and by believing have life in His name. Whatever else we ask for your son, we first pray that he and your whole household would be found in Christ, trusting Him alone for salvation, for it is only in Him that God receives us.
Jesus showed His power to heal both near and far. When a father came for his sick son, Jesus spoke the word and at a distance of many miles the child was healed. When He healed a man born blind, religious leaders cast that man out, but Jesus sought him out and revealed Himself to him and the man believed. He is still the same. He is not limited by distance or by the severity of sensory struggles, anxiety, or the history of trauma. We can trust Him for physical healing as well as spiritual healing, for calm in the body and peace in the mind. By His wounds we are healed.
Remember also the heart of the Father toward a child who feels lost. When the younger son had wasted his inheritance and returned in filth and shame, thinking he was no longer worthy to be called a son, his father did not wait for him to clean himself up. He ran to him, embraced him and kissed him while he was still unclean, and put sandals on his feet as a sign that he was restored as a son and not a servant. That is how God receives those who come to Him through Jesus. And though others may look down upon your son or misunderstand his disabilities, the Father does not. He clothes His children with truth and righteousness and gives them a place of honor.
So we pray for your son now. We ask the Lord to lift every spirit of fear, torment, confusion and frustration and to fill him with the Holy Spirit, with peace that surpasses understanding, with joy, gentleness, clarity and gratitude. We ask that his mind, body and spirit be healed and restored, that sources of pain and distress be removed, that he would eat his meals in peace with a thankful heart, and that he would sleep without disturbance and wake refreshed and strengthened. We ask that his routines, activities, outings and transitions be covered with calm and satisfaction, and that he would grow in gentle and confident communication without need for negative habits or outbursts.
We pray for a hedge of protection around him, that no weapon formed against him would prosper, and that God would clothe him with the full armor of God, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, and that angels would encamp around him. We pray for restoration of the bond with his sisters, that any division, disrespect or toxic influence would be removed and that unbreakable love and unity would be renewed. We pray for you and for his caregivers, that God would give wisdom, patience and discernment to do what is right and best for him, and that He would provide dedicated, godly and gentle helpers who bring out the best in him.
God is not a man that He should lie, and His Word cannot be broken. What He has promised He will do. Where two or three agree in the name of Jesus, He is present. We agree with you now that setbacks would be replaced with breakthrough, that what has troubled his nights would bow to the name of Jesus and depart, and that your home would be filled with the light and presence of Christ, with calm, joy and safety in all your daily travels and activities. May the Lord continue the good work He has begun and grant you rest as you trust Him.
