Peaceful Calm Day

We join you in prayer for your precious son and thank God with you for the peaceful rest he has had and for keeping him seizure free these many months. Your faithful love and intercession for him are seen by the Lord, and we bring your requests before Him who alone is our Savior and our peace.

Scripture teaches that grace and peace come to us from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, and that through Christ who reconciled earth and heaven we who were far off are made sons and daughters. Where that peace is present, everything finds its proper order. Peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and when the Lord gives His peace, He also sends His protection, for each of His children has His care and the ministry of His angels over their dwelling, their going out and coming in.

We pray for the deepest kind of peace for your son, not only quiet in his surroundings but peace within. There are wars without, when circumstances and other people trouble us, but the heaviest war is within the soul, when anxiety, fearful memories, confusion and distress rise up. Only Christ can still that storm. We ask the Lord to calm the storm within him, to heal his mind and body, to wash away fear, anger and torment, and to fill his heart with the peace that surpasses all understanding which guards heart and mind in Christ Jesus. By His wounds we are healed, and we ask for that healing to work in every part of your son's life, in his sleep, his waking, his meals, his hygiene and dressing, his speech and his daily activities.

We pray that the Lord will grant him sweet and restful sleep, and that when he wakes he will be refreshed, calm, gentle and content. We ask that God will remove confusion and distress around his meals, that he may eat peacefully with thankfulness and satisfaction, without waste or agitation, and that any physical discomfort in his stomach would be healed. We pray that the Lord will help him to express his wants and needs in calm and gentle words, replacing anxious and rigid habits with peaceful and healthy ways, and giving him confidence to use the language God has given him. We pray for freedom from tormenting memories and past hurts, and that every negative habit would be replaced with godly manners that honor the Lord.

We pray also for your home. We ask God to anoint every room, every door and window, and to set His protection around your family, your caregivers and all visitors. We pray for his caregivers, his support coordinator and all who serve him, that God would give them wisdom, patience, compassion, strength and gentleness, and provide godly help where it is needed. We pray that his time with his sister, her dog, and others would be joyful and that he would be included, well cared for and at peace, especially during sensitive moments like shaving and other sensory experiences.

For your daughter, we pray that the Lord would restore love and tenderness in her heart toward her brother and toward your family, and that He would draw her to walk in wisdom, purity and obedience before Him. We pray that God would remove every ungodly influence that brings division, confusion or harm into your family, and that He would guard your son from every spiritual attack and from any harmful words spoken against him. No weapon formed against those who are in Christ shall finally prosper, for Christ has overcome the powers of darkness, and we ask that your son would be kept safe under the shelter of the Most High.

We do not ask God to bless any relationship outside His good design, for marriage is the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman and the proper place for intimate life together, and salvation and true wholeness are found in Jesus Christ alone. We pray that every relationship in your family would be ordered according to His holy will, leading to peace and restoration rather than division.

May the Lord who made peace through the blood of His cross fill your home with His presence tonight and tomorrow. May He grant you and all in your household a calm and restful night and a joyful, peaceful day, with no setbacks but steady steps toward wholeness. We continue to stand with you, trusting that nothing is impossible with God, and asking all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
