Beloved of All
I join you in prayer before God for peace, for wisdom and direction, and for restful sleep in the name of Jesus Christ.
The Scripture calls Him the God of peace who makes us perfect in every good work to do His will, working in us what is well pleasing in His sight. True peace is not only the quieting of anxious thoughts, but the reconciling of our hearts to God through Christ, and the settling of our lives in obedience to Him. I pray that He will guard your heart and mind in Christ and lead you into that steady peace which remains even when outward troubles continue.
For direction and wisdom, seek not the wisdom of this world which ends here and cannot profit the soul, but the wisdom of God which is hidden from the proud and revealed to those who trust Him. That wisdom seems foolish to the world but it overcomes all worldly wisdom because it comes from the Spirit and leads to life. Ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault, and He will give you clarity to know His will and to walk in it step by step. Watch and be sober in your soul, for to be awake spiritually is in our power. Do not sleep the sleep of the soul which is carelessness and sin, but keep your eyes open to what is true and lasting, so that you see things as they are and not as fleeting dreams.
For sleep, remember that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. Your rest is safe because He watches over you continually and does not suffer your foot to be moved when you stand steadfast in Him. An orderly and sober life before God also helps to make sleep calm and composed, when the heart is not burdened and the mind is not stifled, but is at rest in His care. I pray that God will quiet your thoughts at night, grant you deep and decent rest, and awaken you refreshed to serve Him.
May the Lord grant you His peace, give you wisdom for each decision before you, guide your steps by His Word, and give you sleep as a gift from His hand. May He keep you watchful in faith and sober in all things, trusting that He is awake over you at all hours. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Shepherd and Lord. Amen.
