Peace in my home and my marriage

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I need prayer for my home and marriage. My husband of 40 yrs hates cats and because they get on his vehicles he becomes enraged Starts cursing me and God too..tells me hurtful words every time this happens.. wants me to get rid of my cats and I told him I can’t because I’ve had them for years.. I ask God to remove all hatred he has for cats .. and to work and remove all hatred and evil from his mind and heart.. I know my Heavenly Father God is greater than anyone or anything in this world He will change ### in a mighty way .. I ask Him in the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth.. with God all things are possible..

We hear the burden on your heart for peace in your home and in your marriage of forty years, and we stand with you together before the Lord seeking His will in Jesus' name. Forty years of marriage is a precious covenant that God honors, for He says What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Matthew 19:6, and we thank God for your faithfulness and for your confidence that your Heavenly Father is greater than anyone or anything in this world and that with God all things are possible Matthew 19:26.

We also must lovingly address what you have shared about your husband becoming enraged, cursing you and cursing God, and speaking hurtful words over the cats getting on his vehicles. This grieves us because it does not align with God's will for a husband or for any believer. Scripture is clear, You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain Exodus 20:7. To curse God is a serious sin that needs repentance, and to speak corrupt and hurtful words to a wife is also sin, for we are commanded Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear Ephesians 4:29, and Husbands, love your wives, and don’t be bitter against them Colossians 3:19. The Word also teaches that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger Proverbs 15:1, and that the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God James 1:20. Hatred and rage come from within the heart and only God can cleanse and renew the heart, as He promises I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you Ezekiel 36:26.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently for your husband as you are doing, and to not return evil for evil but to overcome evil with good, while also seeking peace in practical ways. Marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman that calls for love, honor, and patience from both. Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it Ephesians 5:25 and to live with their wives according to knowledge, giving honor to the woman 1 Peter 3:7. We encourage you to show respect and a gentle spirit even when hurtful words come, and to seek calm moments to talk about practical solutions that honor both your care for the animals God created, for a righteous man respects the life of his animal Proverbs 12:10, and your husband’s concern for his vehicles, such as keeping the cats indoors or in a safe enclosure when possible, using vehicle covers, or providing alternative warm resting places for the cats away from the vehicles. If at all possible, as much as it depends on you, be at peace with all men Romans 12:18.

We rejoice that you asked in the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, for there is no other name by which we have access to the Father and by which we are saved, for there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Timothy 2:5, and whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13.

We pray together with you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear sister and her husband and their home. Lord, we ask for Your peace to rule in their home, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:7. Forgive any sin of taking Your holy name in vain and of corrupt and hateful words, and convict and cleanse this husband’s heart. Remove hatred and evil from his mind and heart and give him a new heart and a new spirit, that he may turn from rage and cursing and speak only what is helpful for building up. Help him to love his wife as Christ loves the church, with kindness, patience, and self control, and help her to respond with grace, forgiveness, and wisdom. Protect these cats as part of Your creation and show this couple practical ways to live in harmony and to honor one another. Let Your love cast out all fear and anger, and let this marriage of forty years be strengthened to reflect Your glory and faithfulness. We trust You to work in a mighty way, for nothing is impossible with You. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

We have been praying as we read your request. Forty years together carries so much shared life, and we hear how heavy it is when the issue with the cats and his vehicles turns into cursing toward you and toward God and words that cut deep. Wanting to keep cats you have loved for years while also longing for peace at home is a painful tension, and we are grateful you brought it to the Lord.

We are joining you in asking God for peace in your home and for His work in both of your hearts. When anger rises so fast it often comes from a deeper sense of frustration or feeling out of control, but that does not make hurtful words okay to live with. It can help not to try to solve it in the heated moment. When things are calm, you might talk together about practical ways to keep the cats off the vehicles, such as keeping them indoors more, using car covers, or other gentle deterrents you both can agree on, and also agree together on how you will speak to each other even when upset. If the harsh language continues, please consider inviting a trusted pastor or wise counselor you both respect to walk with you so you are not carrying this alone.

Father, we lift this home and this long marriage to You. Bring Your peace where there has been anger and hurt, guard this sister's heart, and give both of them wisdom and gentleness in how they speak and respond. Lead them to helpful support and draw each of them closer to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Thank you for prayer and support and encouraging words I accepted Jesus in my heart and life in 2010.. my husband is still in the world .. but I pray for his salvation amd my loved ones everyday..

Your cry for peace in your home has been heard, and the sorrow you describe after forty years of marriage is not light. To be met with rage and hurtful words, and to hear the name of God cursed in your own house, is a deep wound. It is right that you have brought this before the Lord, for He alone can give the peace you seek.

You have prayed that God would remove hatred from your husband's heart, and that prayer is according to His will. Yet let us remember what true peace is. The prophet says, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This perfect peace is not merely the absence of quarrelling over outward things, nor a quiet house for a season. It is peace with God through the blood of Jesus Christ, and then peace within the conscience as the stream that flows from that fountain. Christ says, My peace I give unto you. It is His own peace, bought with His blood, wrought by the Holy Spirit, and kept by the Father who is the God of peace.

When a man curses both his wife and his God, it shows that his need is deeper than a dislike for cats upon his vehicles. The anger that flares so quickly reveals a heart not yet at peace with God. The Scriptures warn of those who cry, Peace, peace, where there is no peace. There can be no true and lasting peace in a home while the heart remains unreconciled to God. Therefore your first and greatest prayer for your husband must be that he may be brought to peace with God through Jesus Christ, for He is our peace. No other foundation can be laid. Without that, all refuges of quietness will be swept away. With it, even sorrows surging round cannot drown the peace that the blood of Jesus whispers within.

For yourself, know that this perfect peace may be yours even now, though duties press and sorrows surround. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. Bear your sorrow with Him, and keep your mind stayed upon Him. He has been a Husband to His people in faithfulness and loving communion, and in Him you shall find rest, a peace which passes all understanding, which the world cannot give and cannot take away. Though you go home to harsh words, you may still go in peace, for the God of peace is with you. Do not seek a false peace that is only peace with yourself while sin remains unconfessed, but seek that filling peace which comes by believing, a peace with a bottom and a shore in Christ alone.

And while you pray for a mighty change, walk in wisdom and love within your covenant. Marriage is a lifelong covenant ordained of God, for better or for worse, and the Lord honors faithfulness therein. Seek to be a peacemaker without returning railing for railing. When the storm is past, speak softly and not in the heat of his anger. Consider also what practical love can do to remove occasion for strife, whether by keeping the cats from the vehicles, providing for them in another place, or covering what he holds dear, so far as you are able. This is not to excuse his sinful rage or his cursing, which is evil and must be repented of, but to show the meekness and quiet spirit which is precious in the sight of God and which may win without a word.

Continue to pray in the mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, for with God all things are possible, and the change of a heart is His peculiar work. Pray not only that the hatred for cats be removed, but that all hatred and evil be cast out and Christ reign there. Pray that your husband may see his need of a Saviour and turn from cursing God to blessing Him.

Let us pray together. O God of peace, who has made peace by the blood of Thy Son, look upon this home and this marriage of forty years. Forgive where Thy holy name has been dishonored, and grant repentance and faith to this husband, that he may be reconciled unto Thee through Jesus Christ. Soften his heart, subdue his anger, and take away hatred from his mind. Keep this wife in perfect peace as her mind is stayed on Thee, and let her know the comfort of Thy presence when hurtful words wound her. Renew peace in that house, that it may be governed by Thy love, and let Thy Holy Spirit, the sacred Dove, brood over it. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our peace. Amen.

Pray that ### and ### reconcile in love and peace. That would stop disrespecting each other. The tension is becoming too much for me.
