We understand your desire to pass the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE), and we want to come alongside you in prayer and encouragement as you prepare for this important step in your career. The pressure to succeed can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who gives wisdom, strength, and peace to those who seek Him.

Let’s first rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may be trying to take hold of your heart. The Bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." You are not alone in this journey, God is with you, and He desires to equip you for success. We also encourage you to seek His wisdom as you study. James 1:5 says, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him."

We must also remind you that your ultimate worth and identity are not found in passing or failing this exam, but in Christ Jesus. If you have not yet placed your faith in Him, we urge you to consider the salvation He offers. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." It is only through His name that we have access to God, and it is only by His grace that we are saved. If you have not surrendered your life to Him, we pray that you would do so today.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is preparing for the NBDHE. Lord, we ask that You would grant them wisdom, clarity, and understanding as they study. Remove any distractions, fear, or doubt that may be hindering their focus. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are in control.

Father, we ask that You would bless their efforts and help them to retain what they have learned. Give them strength when they are weary and motivation when they feel discouraged. We declare that they will pass this exam, not by their own might, but by the power of Your Spirit working within them.

Lord, we also pray for their heart and mind. Remind them that their identity is found in You alone, and that You have a purpose and plan for their life. Help them to trust in You completely, knowing that You will never leave them nor forsake them.

We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or self-doubt in Jesus’ name, and we declare that this exam will be a testimony of Your faithfulness. May this dear one walk in confidence, knowing that You are their strength and their shield.

In Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen.

As you continue to prepare, we encourage you to stay grounded in God’s Word. Meditate on scriptures that speak to His faithfulness, such as Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me," and Psalm 119:105, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Trust in Him, and He will guide your steps.

You are not alone in this journey. Lean on Him, and He will see you through.

We know that pressure. When so much seems to rest on a single exam, it’s easy for fear to take over and make us feel like everything depends on this one moment. You’ve put in the study hours, and now the weight of needing to pass can feel overwhelming. But you are not alone in this. Many of us have sat with the same knot in our stomach, and we’re holding you in prayer right now.

It can help to step back from the big, looming “I need to pass” and break the next few days into small, doable pieces. Reviewing one topic at a time, taking real breaks to let your mind rest, and guarding your sleep are not optional, they’re part of preparing well. Your brain needs space to store all that knowledge. And if you have a trusted friend or study partner, let them know you’re feeling the weight; simply saying it out loud can loosen fear’s grip.

More than that, remember that your identity and worth are not hanging on a test score. God is with you in this, caring about your effort, your honesty, and your peace just as much as the outcome. Do your best, trust Him with the results, and rest in the fact that He is faithful whatever comes.

Lord Jesus, we bring this test and this heavy heart to You. Calm the anxious thoughts, sharpen recall, and give clarity under pressure. Surround our friend with Your peace that passes understanding, and help them to feel Your steady presence in the exam room. Guide their hands and mind, and let the outcome be in Your hands. Amen.

God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. The very anxiety that now gnaws at you unfits you to meet the difficulty you dread. Have you not found it so? That fretting over this examination steals the quietness of mind needed to study, to recall, to endure. Anxiety has never comforted anybody, nor has it ever brought any grist to the mill. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it? You lean all your soul's weight on passing this test, yet I bid you lean on a surer word. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but while God remains true to His Word, supplication is not in vain. Bring this burden to Him who weighs the actions of men, and who hears the cry of the trusting soul. Cast yourself upon the shadow of His wings until these calamities pass. If He has established you in Christ, even this trial serves His unbreakable decree. Yet do not mistake me, your success or failure here will not alter the King's final weighing. Therefore, examine your heart sternly now. Know whom you have believed, and never rest until you know that should you pass through the deepest waters of death itself, you belong to the One who passed under the sentence for you.

You seek to pass an examination, and that desire is not wrong, but examine your heart lest it be puffed up. For God often permits afflictions to cut away our pride, lest when we attain a little success we reach to heaven in self-esteem. Remember Peter: in his great love he thought to stand, and in a short time he denied his Lord three times, that he might learn human nature is nothing without aid from above. So if you pass, give glory to God and be lowly; if you fail, do not despair, but see it as a lesson in humility. The true passing is to believe in Christ, the light who delivers from error and mental darkness, for in that dispensation every blessing is secured. Do not weigh down your soul with the sand and filth of worldly care, like a sinking vessel. Flee to Him in prayer, but say always, "Thy will be done." He who cares for the sparrows will grant what is profitable for your salvation.

The tension you feel about this exam is not just nerves. It is a spiritual moment, and you are standing at the edge of a promised land. Your request is simple, but the battle underneath it is ancient. The enemy you face is not the test itself; it is the same unbelief that kept an entire generation out of their inheritance when they stood at their own border.

We are warned about that failure so we will not repeat it. Ten spies came back and said, "We can't do it." Their words caused fear, and that fear was the outward symptom of a heart that refused to believe God was able. They could not enter in because of unbelief. Do not let your heart harden itself in that same provocation. The promise God has given you is not a guarantee of a perfect score earned by your own white-knuckled effort; it is an invitation to find your rest in His sufficiency while you prepare. There is a vast difference between the reverent fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom, and the terrified fear of failure, which is a snare.

The fear of the Lord is actually the cure for your anxiety. This kind of fear does not make you panic; it makes you hate evil. It hates the self-reliance that tries to build a righteousness by the works of the law, measuring your worth by study hours and practice scores. Let go of that. The consciousness of God’s presence is what dispels the terror of the night. David did not say the valley of the shadow of death was removed; he said he would fear no evil because Thou art with me. His rest was not in the circumstances, but in the presence of the Shepherd.

Go into that testing room knowing that the calling of God is the equipping of God. If He has set this path before you, He is able to bring you through it. Do not be like the tribes who stopped short of the Jordan, settling outside the fullness of the land because they saw the obstacles instead of the Lord. Let your heart refuse the murmuring and the panic. Instead, let the foundation of your knowledge be a deep, quiet trust in Him. The outcome is in His hands, and that is a safe place for it to be. Let the deep peace of Christ rule in your heart, and the enemy’s fear will find no foothold there.
