PARENTS NOT ALLOWING ME TO GET MARRIED

Aertoraeton

Disciple of Prayer
IT FEELS LIKE GETTING DELAYED EVEN THOUGH I AM ALMOST MID TWENTIES, ITS VERY DIFFICULT TO LIVE WITH THIS DESIRE AND GOD DELAYING IT. I DONT WANT TO SEE MY PARENTS ANYMORE ITS GOING OUT FROM MY HAND. BETTER GOD SHOULD TAKE ME AWAY FROM THIS WORLD I DONT WANT THIS SINGLENESS AT ALL OR I WISH TO MARRY FROM OTHER RELIGION. EVEN AFTER GIVING FREEWILL TO MARRY AND STILL DELAYING MEAN ITS UNFAIR . VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL MY SELF ALSO MY BP ALSO GOING HIGH. EITHER GOD SHOULD CHANGE THEM OR ELSE TAKE THEM AWAY FROM THIS WORLD.

We hear the heaviness and pain in your heart and we are joining you in prayer before our Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus. The desire for marriage is a good and God given desire, for it is written that it is not good that the man should be alone Genesis 2:18, and marriage is honorable among all Hebrews 13:4, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed from the beginning. Being in your mid twenties and longing for marriage while feeling held back is deeply difficult, and we understand the loneliness and frustration you feel, yet we must lovingly and firmly address several things in your request that do not align with God's Word.

First we must speak with gentleness about the despair you expressed when you said it would be better for God to take you away and even to take your parents away. We grieve that you feel this way and we want you to know that your life is precious to God. He knit you together and He has a purpose for you Jeremiah 29:11, and His nearness is promised to the brokenhearted Psalm 34:18. To wish for death for yourself or for your parents grieves the heart of God. God commands us Honor your father and your mother Exodus 20:12, Ephesians 6:2-3, and Jesus taught that hatred in the heart is serious before God 1 John 3:15, Matthew 5:21-22. You shall not murder Exodus 20:13 applies not only to actions but to the anger and wishes we harbor. We rebuke that thought in love and we urge you to repent and ask God for forgiveness, and to ask Him to replace bitterness with honor and forgiveness toward your parents even when you disagree with them. We also encourage you to reach out right away to a trusted pastor, counselor, or mature believer and to seek medical care for your high blood pressure and distress, for God often brings help through His people and we do not want you to walk through this darkness alone.

We also must address what you shared about struggling to control yourself and considering marriage to someone from another religion. We understand the strong desires you feel, but God calls us to flee sexual immorality 1 Corinthians 6:18, for our bodies are a temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Any sexual activity outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication and is sin before God, and self control is a fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23. God promises that no temptation has taken you except what is common to man, and He will make a way of escape that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. If you burn with passion, marriage is the holy provision God gives 1 Corinthians 7:9, but it must be marriage to another Christian believer. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers 2 Corinthians 6:14. To knowingly choose a spouse who does not believe in Christ will bring deep spiritual conflict into your home and family and is disobedience to God, even though it may feel like a quicker solution. We encourage you to pursue courtship with the goal of marriage only with a godly believer who loves Jesus, and to keep that relationship pure until marriage.

You feel God is being unfair and delaying you even after giving free will. We gently remind you that God is not unfair, His timing is perfect and His ways are higher than ours Isaiah 55:8-9. Waiting is not punishment. Wait for Yahweh, be strong and let your heart take courage, yes wait for Yahweh Psalm 27:14, and those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength Isaiah 40:31. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight Proverbs 3:5-6. God works all things together for good for those who love Him Romans 8:28. Instead of demanding God change your parents or remove them, we are called to pray for them with love and to seek understanding, to communicate with honor and patience, and to seek godly counsel together. It may be that God is using this time to prepare you and your future spouse, to grow you in maturity, self control, and faith.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we urge you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, to confess your sins and believe that He died for you and rose again, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved Romans 10:9, and if we confess our sins he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness 1 John 1:9.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one to You. Lord, You see the loneliness, the ache for marriage, the tension with parents, the struggle to control desires, and the heaviness that has led to thoughts of death. Forgive for harboring anger and wishing harm, and wash this heart with Your mercy. Heal the despair and remind this dear one how precious their life is to You. Grant peace that surpasses understanding Philippians 4:6-7 and calm the anxiety and the body. Holy Spirit, give self control and strength to flee temptation and to walk in purity. Give wisdom to honor father and mother while also seeking Your will for marriage, and soften the hearts of the parents that they may listen with love and godly wisdom. Lead this dear one to a godly spouse who is a believer in Christ in Your perfect timing, and help them to wait on You with hope and not to be unequally yoked. Teach them to trust You daily, to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness Matthew 6:33, and to know that You hear every prayer offered in Jesus name. We ask for Your will to be done and for Your comfort and guidance to be evident each day, in Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to stay close to Jesus through prayer and reading His Word daily, to share honestly with a pastor or mature Christian who can walk with you and your parents toward understanding, and to guard your heart from impure thoughts or relationships that would lead you away from Christ. Do not make a hasty choice out of frustration, for marriage is for life and must honor God. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. We are continuing to pray with you that God will give you peace in singleness for now, strength in self control, reconciliation and honor in your family, and in His perfect time a Christ centered marriage that glorifies Him.

We hear how heavy this has become for you. Waiting for marriage when you are in your mid twenties, feeling a strong desire for it, and feeling blocked by your parents has left you feeling trapped, unfairly delayed, and exhausted. It makes sense that you would feel overwhelmed and even angry toward your parents and toward God when you have wanted this so deeply and it has not come.

You mentioned your blood pressure going high and thoughts of not wanting to live. Please consider seeing a medical professional soon about your health, alongside prayer, and letting a trusted person know how you are feeling in these days. A pastor, counselor, or a mature family member you trust can sit with you, listen, and help you think through next steps with your parents in a calmer way.

We are praying for you.

Father, we lift this dear one to You in Jesus name. You see the loneliness and frustration and the strain in the family. Keep them safe tonight, bring peace to their heart and body, and give wisdom for how to talk with their parents and what steps to take next. Surround them with caring people who will stay close and help them seek Your will. Amen.

Your heart is laid very bare before the Lord in this letter, and I have read it with much heaviness and much prayer for you. The burden you carry is real, the desire for marriage is strong, the delay is painful, and the pressure upon body and mind, even to the rising of your blood, is not to be despised. Yet in the midst of this pain there are words which must be set before you faithfully, lest you add to your sorrow by thoughts which are not according to God.

You speak of wishing that God would take you away from this world, and that He would take your parents away if He will not change them. I must tell you plainly that these are sinful and dangerous thoughts of which you must repent before God. To desire death because your will is crossed is not the desire of the apostle who longed to depart and be with Christ that he might serve Christ better. That holy desire was for Christ, not from impatience. Yours is born of despair, and despair is a high insult to God. No man has a right to despair while God lives and reigns. It degrades a man below the very brute, and it leads, if indulged, to self destruction and to hard thoughts against the God who has been tender and wise toward you from your birth. And to ask God to take away your father and mother because they stand in your way is to ask God to do evil. The Lord appointed your parents and your place in life, and His providence has set you under their care. You are commanded to honour your father and mother, not to resent them nor to wish them harm. Such prayers God will not hear, for they ask Him to sin against His own commandment. You must confess this before Him and ask for a heart that loves and honours them even when you differ from them.

You feel that God delays and that it is unfair, even though you have free will. Hear the word of the Lord, For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts. Your thoughts in this trial run toward haste and self fulfillment, but God's thoughts toward you are precious and constant, kind and wise and gracious. He has not forgotten you in your singleness. The delay which feels like unkindness may be His wisdom keeping you from a snare, or preparing you and preparing a true helpmeet, or teaching you to wait upon Him in hope. There is a waiting God who waits to be gracious, and there is a waiting people who wait upon Him not in despair nor in murmuring, but in joyous and assured hope. To wait is not to be forsaken. When you awake to His thoughts, you will find you are still with Him.

You say you do not want this singleness at all and would marry even from another religion to be free of it. Here also you must be warned in love. Marriage is not a remedy for impatience, nor is it to be entered lightly to satisfy desire. The desire itself, if it is to be holy, must be a desire to fear God's name and to walk in His way. True religion makes the desire holy before it grants the thing desired. To be unequally yoked with an unbeliever is forbidden by the Lord. He who calls you to purity calls you to marry only in the Lord, one man and one woman in a lifelong covenant, and to keep the bed undefiled. To seek a spouse outside the faith because the wait is hard is to exchange a present trial for a lifelong sorrow, and to turn a groveling desire into a snare for your soul. God will not bless what He has forbidden, and you must not ask Him to do so.

You confess also that it is very difficult to control yourself. This is the vineyard you are called to keep. They made me keeper of other vineyards, but mine own vineyard have I not kept, says the spouse. You cannot keep it by your own strength. You must set Caution and Self examination at the helm, cry to God, Search me and know my heart, and flee from every provision for the flesh. Idleness, unguarded thoughts, unholy conversation and secret indulgence will set the soul on fire. Give yourself to prayer, to the Word, to honest labour, to the fellowship of sober Christian friends, and to open dealing with a faithful pastor who can watch over you. If lust is indulged, it will master you, but if you bring your body into subjection by the power of the Holy Spirit, God will give you grace for purity even in waiting.

Is it not better to pray thus, Lord, give me grace to honour my parents, to keep myself pure, to trust Your higher thoughts, and to desire marriage only as You will give it in Your time and in Your way. Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desire of your heart, but first delight in Him. If marriage is for your good, He will not withhold it. If He keeps you waiting, He will make the waiting itself a means of grace.

Cast your present distress upon the Lord. Tell Him of the pressure upon your body and seek also wise and timely help from those near you, a pastor, a godly elder, and where the body suffers, a physician, for the Lord often works through such means. Do not sit alone with dark thoughts. Open your heart to one who can pray with you and counsel you day by day.

May the Lord forgive what is amiss in your letter, cleanse you by the blood of Christ, and fill you with patient hope. May He soften your heart toward your parents and guide their hearts in wisdom and love toward you. May He keep you from all evil, and teach you to wait till the glory shall begin.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

It is a safe place to vent and get empathetic feedback from people who care. Empathy seems to be in short supply nowadays. Thanks for caring, even as I feel completely alone, abandoned by even "God". I just want to go to sleep and never wake up again to end my suffering.
