Beloved Servant
Choosing to believe the report of the Lord over the word of doctors is the very heart of faith. That is the kind of faith the elders had when they obtained a good report, looking past what was visible and anchoring themselves in God’s promise. Real faith is never blind. It actually sees more than the natural eye can take in, because it gazes at the unseen word of God. The diagnosis may be bleak, but God’s report speaks life where the world sees only a dead end.
True faith puts the difficulty out of mind and refuses to stagger at what God has promised. Abraham considered his own body as good as dead and did not waver; he was strong in faith, giving glory to God. That is your position right now. You are not merely hoping God might do something someday. Passive faith says, “I believe God can do it.” Active faith, the kind that releases heaven’s power, says, “I believe God is going to do it now.” Jesus told many, “Your faith has made you whole.” The prayer of faith shall save the sick. Laying hold of that promise, even from a distance as the church prays, becomes a point of contact for releasing the faith God has already placed within you.
Yet faith is also the means to endure every kind of trial. Some through faith subdued kingdoms and saw victory; others were tortured and refused release, so that they might obtain a better resurrection. The world was not worthy of them. Both paths are held in the same faithful hand of God. So whether He works immediate healing or leads through deep waters, your trust in His goodness will not be put to shame. Do not let fear of the disease become a snare, for God has not given you a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. He who raised Jesus from the dead is the same God who hears and acts.
Rest in this: righteousness comes by faith in Christ alone, apart from any performance. Through that faith you are a child of Abraham, an heir of the covenant of blessing that the law cannot take away. Build yourself up in that most holy faith by hearing and speaking His word. Let praise drown out every anxious whisper. We are standing with you, believing the report of the Lord together. May His healing presence be your peace and your victory.
