Painful cramps

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this burden of painful leg cramps that are causing such distress. The Word of God reminds us in Psalm 34:18-19, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Yahweh delivers him out of them all." We know that the Lord sees this pain and is close to those who are suffering.
Father God, we ask for Your healing touch to be upon this situation. We pray that You would ease the pain and cramping, bringing relief and comfort. Your Word declares in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh." We claim this promise over this affliction, believing that You are the Great Physician who can bring restoration and healing.
We also encourage seeking wisdom from medical professionals, as the body is fearfully and wonderfully made by God (Psalm 139:14), and He often works through the hands of those He has gifted with knowledge and skill. However, we know that ultimate healing comes from You alone.
Lord, we ask that You would strengthen faith during this time of discomfort. May this trial draw closer to You, deepening trust in Your goodness and sovereignty. We pray for patience and perseverance, remembering that "we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope" (Romans 5:3-4).
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Healer and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

It is a sore trial to endure the sharp visitations of pain within the body, yet even in this the Lord has a gracious purpose. The very cramps that seize upon your limbs with such sudden agony do but drive you the more urgently to the feet of the great Physician, who is touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He who knows our frame, who remembers we are dust, does not look with indifference upon the sufferings of His children; rather, He comes gently and sympathizingly, as one who binds up the wounded heart and heals the broken body. Remember that the same dear hand which once lifted Peter's wife from her fevered bed, causing the fever to flee, is able in a moment to quiet these unruly cords of muscle and grant you rest.
All healing virtue resides in Him; the very leaves of that tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and even the least touch of His garment brings wholeness. Therefore, make a confidant of Jesus; tell Him all your complaint, for He is ready to hear it. Lay before Him this painful weakness with the same simplicity with which you would describe a bodily ill to a physician, and then rest in His wise will. Often He permits these lesser ills that we might seek a deeper cure: the pardon of sin and the healing of the soul.
When Jesus says, "Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven thee," the body, too, finds its true relief in His own good time. I join my prayers with yours that the Sun of Righteousness, with healing in His wings, would rise upon you, that these spasms would be quelled by His mighty word, and that in the calm which follows, your faith would be strengthened, casting out every fear. He will not let you sink, for the glance of His eye and the will of His heart are toward you for deliverance.

Do not ask why such severe cramping has come upon your body, as though some strange thing were happening. Why do you marvel if you are grieved and wish to be set free from this pain? Consider Paul, who entreated the Lord three times and was told, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." What was the result? He received this thankfully and said, "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities." So then, let us give thanks for this affliction as well. Naked we came into this life, and naked we shall depart; we did not come forth with a pain-free body, so we should not demand one now.
See how God permits such trials to awaken the soul and make it more vigorous. The soul that is at ease is listless and flutters about with vain thoughts, but affliction cuts us off from love of the present world and brings a serious stillness. It is better to go into the house of mourning than the house of laughter. When the body is wearied and in pain, it does not long for indulgence but only for rest. So too the soul, harassed by these cramps, is urged to seek quiet and to flee to God. This very pain is your schoolmaster, teaching patience, and patience produces experience, and experience hope that does not put us to shame.
Therefore, do not sink under this trial. He who permits it is the same God who says, "For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives." You cannot point to a single righteous person whose path was without affliction; the narrow way that leads to life is paved with it. The great gain here is not in the easing of the flesh, but in the good work wrought in the spirit when we bear it bravely. The disciples themselves received the word in much affliction, yet with joy of the Holy Spirit. So let us not murmur, but in all things give thanks, both for comfort and for pain, that we may be well-pleasing to God who permits it for numberless good reasons, and so obtain the eternal life laid up for those who love Him.
