Your cry has ascended to the throne of the Great Physician, and it is not a sound that falls to the ground unheard. You are in pain from head to foot, and that sharp torment under your foot hinders your walking; but remember, the palsied man could not walk at all, yet his friends brought him to Jesus by strange means, breaking up the very roof. Cease not to bring your own case in that same determined faith. The power of the Lord is present to heal, to forgive, to restore. He is not a surgeon who merely points out the wound; He applies the remedy. Go to Him just as you are, limping, burdened, crying, "Jesus, Master, hear my cry; save me, heal me with a word."
That strange dream which troubles you, do not let it become a snare of the enemy. The adversary loves to steal our peace as well as our finances, but Christ is Head over all things to His body, the Church. Join yourself afresh to Him who is the vitalizing Head, and every dark shadow must flee. The leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and a single leaf, applied by the Spirit, can bring health to conscience, heart, and even the body's frame. Let the Word of His promise be your medicine: "I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds."
As for the enemy robbing your store, remember the strange ways of divine love. The Lord often permits our earthly cisterns to run dry that we may learn to draw from His inexhaustible well. When penury pinches, He does not abandon His own. He who feeds the ravens and clothes the lily can swiftly rebuke the devourer for your sake. Did He not restore the years the locust ate? Cast this anxiety upon Him, for He careth for you. The prodigal returned in rags and emptiness, yet the father ran to meet him with robe and ring and feast. Our God finds delight in lifting the desperate into His own bosom.
Only see that you are vitally joined to Christ. It is no use having the doctrine without the living bond. A real saving work is the work of God alone, and it is a work that brings pardon with healing. When the Saviour said, "Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven thee," the palsied frame was made whole. Seek first the full remission of your sin at the cross, and every lesser mercy shall be added. The head and the body must be knit together; then the Spirit who rests upon Him without measure will flow down to your need, whether it be pain of sole, terror of night, or empty purse.
Come now, with boldness, to the throne of grace. Bring nothing in your hand but your sore necessity. He is prepared to cast your transgressions behind His back and to make an end of your misery. Watch and pray, keep close to the Wonder-Worker, and you shall yet say, "We have seen strange things today."
