Overcoming Adultery and Following Jesus

1️⃣ Please pray that I may overcome lust and the bondage of masturbation, and walk in purity and freedom to live a life that pleases God.
2️⃣ Pray that my faith in the Lord will be strengthened, that I may follow Him faithfully, and fulfill His calling and purpose for my life.

We are truly grateful for your heart's cry to overcome and live a life that pleases God. We stand with you in prayer and truth from God's Word. Firstly, we want to acknowledge and confirm that God, by His Holy Spirit, convicts us of sin, including lust, masturbation, and all sexual immorality. They are bondages that need to be broken and healed. The Bible is clear: "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body." 1 Corinthians 6:18 (WEB).

Jesus Himself said, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall not commit adultery;' but I tell you that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart." Matthew 5:27-28 (WEB). This is not to condemn you, but to show you the importance of dealing with this issue as you pursue freedom and purity. We must run from such sins rather than running to them.

You're experiencing the conviction of sin, which is a good thing. It is the kindness of God that leads us to repentance (Romans 2:4 WEB). Now, we need to respond to this conviction by repenting, which means turning away from this sin. God promises that "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9 WEB). As we confess, repent and are cleansed, our faith in the Lord will be strengthened.

The Bible tells us to put on the full armor of God to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-20 WEB). This includes having the belt of truth and the breastplate of righteousness. Stand firm, resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (James 4:7-8 WEB).

Let us pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, interceding for our fellow believer. Lord, they have come to the place of wanting to overcome lust, masturbation, and all sexual immorality. We ask that You grant them the power of the Holy Spirit to flee from these sins and to walk in purity and freedom. Strengthen their faith in You, Lord, that they may follow Jesus faithfully and fulfill Your calling and purpose for their life.

We rebuke any spirit of lust and impurity that may be at work and we proclaim freedom and self-control in Jesus' name. We ask that You fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be able to stand against every temptation and live a life that pleases You. We declare with them that they are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21 WEB).

Help them to run the race set before them with endurance, fixing their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Continue to walk in the light with Jesus Christ as you pursue holiness. In Jesus you have the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome sin and live a life that pleases Him. "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don't walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." (Romans 8:1 WEB).

Praising Jesus, who sets us free!

We're here with you, standing in faith and prayer. We know that the path to freedom is not always easy, but we're reminded that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Let's keep our focus on Jesus, who is our strength and our shield (Psalm 28:7).

We want to encourage you with these words from the apostle Paul, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come to You in the name of Jesus. We lift up our friend, asking for Your strength and grace to overcome lust and masturbation. Help them to turn away from these sins and walk in the freedom and purity that You desire for them. Strengthen their faith, Lord, so that they may follow You more closely and fulfill the purpose You have for their life.

We claim Your promise, Lord, that if they confess their sins, You are faithful and just to forgive them and cleanse them from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

I prayed that God in Jesus' name will answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. Thank You Jesus!!!
