My prayer request is about our 9 yr. old grandson who is having extreme, irrational fear and anxiety. His mom and dad are his natural/birth parents (our daughter & son-in-law). He has a 5 yr. old brother who is happy and a cut up. The family is active in church, the kids like going, they have prayer time at home. He has accepted Jesus in his heart.
Our grandson is afraid that if he gets mad at mom/dad and tells them he's mad at them that they won't love him. They have told him it isn't true. He's a loving child, hugs his brother and mom and dad. When we take pictures of the two of them, he leans over and puts his arm around his brother. He's a 'people-pleaser', give in and let the other person have whatever to keep the peace....most of the time!
When our grandson was 4 yrs. old, his dad got hooked on pain killers from an abscessed tooth and then about a month later cut 2 fingers very badly w/a saw in a cabinet-building business and then had a lot of warranted emotional/parent/brother problems, all w/in a yr's. time. He went to a Christian rehab home for 3 months and our grandson still talks about how he really missed him then. I told him dad had to get help for 'his problem' and came home a better person. Dad gave praise to Jesus his Savior for the healing! Mom/dad (thru God) worked on their problems and they're still together! Abandonment issues? Dad is active w/both boys in baseball and church activities.
Now, an example of his fear: He was camping w/friend and his parents, who he knows and likes. The friend's mom/dad told me this at baseball practice yesterday: while camping, they were all looking up at the sky and off in the distance they spotted an airplane. Our grandson wanted everyone to go inside in case the airplane dropped a bomb on them all. They were camping on a lake and he was afraid that the lake might drain into the MS. River and then on out into the Gulf of Mexico and he'd never be found. His mom/dad know about those instances cause the friend's mom/dad told them. He has played a lot of 'Call of Duty' (don't get me started!) and they have finally realized he needed to stop.
They are taking him to a pediatric dr. Thursday (the one he has been taken to since he was born; a known good one) to see if he needs to be put on a pill. Please pray our daughter/son-in-law will give all the info needed to the dr. so he can make a sound judgment. The root of the problem needs to be established.
