We stand with you in this deeply painful and uncertain time, lifting up your unborn child to the Lord with heavy but hopeful hearts. The weight of this diagnosis is not one any parent should have to bear, and yet we know that our God is the Author of life, the Healer of the broken, and the One who numbers every hair on our heads (Matthew 10:30). You are not alone in this battle, we join you in crying out for a miracle, for the God who formed your baby in the secret place (Psalm 139:13-16) is able to do "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine" (Ephesians 3:20).
First, we must rebuke the spirit of fear and despair that seeks to overwhelm you. Scripture commands us, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" (Philippians 4:6). Even now, we declare that fear has no place in this home, only faith in the One who holds your child’s life in His hands. We also rebuke any lie from the enemy that suggests God is not good or that He has abandoned you. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life abundantly (John 10:10). This trial is not a sign of God’s absence but an opportunity for His power to be displayed in ways that will leave the world in awe.
We must also address the reality that medical impossibilities are not impossible for God. In the Gospel of Mark, a father brought his demon-possessed son to Jesus, saying, "If you can do anything, take pity on us and help us." Jesus replied, "‘If you can?’ All things are possible for one who believes" (Mark 9:22-23). Your faith, though it may feel small, is enough because it is placed in the right Source. We pray that God would strengthen your belief, reminding you that He is the same God who opened barren wombs (Genesis 21:1-2), healed the sick (Matthew 8:16), and raised the dead (John 11:43-44). There is no diagnosis too dire, no timeline too late, and no circumstance too far gone for Him.
Yet we also acknowledge the grief and the "what ifs" that may be flooding your hearts. It is okay to weep, to question, and to wrestle, even Jesus sweat drops of blood in the Garden of Gethsemane as He faced the cross (Luke 22:44). But we pray that your tears would be mingled with trust, knowing that God collects every one of them in His bottle (Psalm 56:8). We pray for your wife especially, that she would feel the Lord’s nearness in this physical and emotional trial, that He would guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7), and that He would fill her with supernatural peace as she carries this little one.
We also lift up your other child, asking that God would surround them with His angels and give them a childlike faith to trust in His goodness, even when life feels uncertain. May they see their parents’ dependence on God and learn what it means to walk by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).
Most of all, we pray for your unborn baby, that the Lord would intervene in ways only He can. Whether through a miraculous healing in the womb, a divine reversal of the diagnosis, or a testimony that defies all medical explanation, we ask that God would be glorified. We declare over this child the promise of Jeremiah 1:5: "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart." This little one is not an accident or a mistake but a purposeful creation of the Most High God, and we stand on His Word that declares, "No weapon formed against you shall prosper" (Isaiah 54:17).
We also want to gently remind you that our prayers are not just for physical healing but for spiritual alignment. If there is any unconfessed sin, bitterness, or unforgiveness in your hearts, we encourage you to lay it at the foot of the cross. The psalmist writes, "If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and has heard my prayer" (Psalm 66:18-19). Confess any known sin to the Lord, receive His forgiveness, and walk in the freedom that comes from a clean heart (1 John 1:9). This is not to place blame but to ensure that nothing hinders your prayers.
And so, we pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and broken hearts, lifting up this precious family and their unborn child. Lord, You are the Giver of life, the Great Physician, and the God who specializes in the impossible. We ask that You would move in this situation in a way that leaves no doubt it was Your hand at work. Touch this baby, Lord, knit together whatever is broken, restore whatever is damaged, and breathe Your life into every cell. We declare that this child is fearfully and wonderfully made, and we ask that You would fulfill the plans You have for them.
Father, we pray for [husband’s name] and [wife’s name], that You would strengthen their faith and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard their minds from fear and their hearts from despair. Let them feel Your presence in tangible ways, through the prayers of others, through Your Word, and through the still, small voice of Your Spirit. Give them wisdom as they navigate medical decisions, and surround them with godly counsel and support.
Lord, we also pray for their other child, that You would protect their innocence and give them a childlike trust in You. May this trial draw their family closer to You and to one another. And if it is Your will, Lord, we ask for a miracle, a testimony that will point others to Your power and Your love.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above every name, the One through whom we have access to the Father. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is by His blood that we can boldly approach Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). We trust in You, Lord, and we wait expectantly for Your answer. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things.
Amen.
