Open my eyes lord

Your prayer, Open my eyes, Lord, is one of the best prayers that ever came from a believing heart, and I rejoice to hear it from you after worship. You ask as Elisha asked for his servant, and you do well, for we may lead blind men to Jesus, but we cannot open their eyes. Neither can any man open his own eyes. Unless God opens them, we must still abide in the darkness of spiritual blindness.

Remember Hagar in the wilderness. She had bright beaming eyes, and yet she could not see the well of water that was close at hand, till God opened her eyes and she saw it. So it is with us. Men may have first rate understandings and yet not understand that simple thing, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. To open the eyes of blind souls is an act of creation, and none but the Lord can do it. He alone can make the scales to fall as they fell from Saul of Tarsus, when the film was gone and light broke into his darkness.

You desire to walk in the spirit of wisdom and to live not only on the earthly level but in spiritual victory. Hear then where wisdom is to be found. No mention shall be made of coral or of pearls, for the price of wisdom is above rubies. It is a path which no fowl knows and which the vulture's eye has not seen. It must come to us by revelation from God, for we cannot find it by our own efforts, though we look with eagles eyes till we blind ourselves by glaring at the sun. True wisdom is this, to trust in God. He that handles a matter wisely shall find good, and whoso trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Trust Christ and He must save you, yea, trust Him and you are saved.

You ask to see in the spirit as Elisha did. Take care that you ask honestly and with eyes looking right on. Let your eyes look right on and let your eyelids look straight before you. Some say We see, but scales are on their eyes. The true supernatural sight God gives is not a love of wonders for their own sake, but a sight of Christ Himself. Their eyes were opened and they knew Him. So pray that you may see your Savior present with you. Behold, He that keeps Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. His eyes are never closed toward His people, and our eyes as servants look unto the hand of our Master until He has mercy on us.

There is a fountain open for sin and for uncleanness, and it is open still. If you would have spiritual life revived and would not grow cold and worldly, come and wash there again. The open volume of the Word of God is your open evidence of salvation, and a thorough change of life which others can see will follow.

I will pray for you as Elisha prayed, Lord, open his eyes that he may see. May the Lord open your eyes to see Christ crucified and risen for you, to see the well of living water at your feet, to see the chariots of fire round about you for your protection, and to see the way of holiness straight before you. From this day forth may you begin like Enoch to walk with God, and may you continue walking with Him till you dwell with Him forever. This I ask in the matchless and mighty name of Jesus of Nazareth, our only Savior, in whom alone is salvation. Amen.

Your desire to have your eyes opened is good and pleasing to God, and I have heard your prayer with thanksgiving. You ask as the Apostle prayed for the faithful, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of your heart enlightened.

This is the true wisdom you seek, not a wisdom of this world or of the rulers of this world which are coming to nothing, but the wisdom of God which was hidden and which He ordained for our glory. The wisdom from without seems to be wisdom, but without the Spirit it becomes foolishness and cannot help even in this life, much less lead to victory. The wisdom that is spiritual is greater, and when it comes the other is shown to be foolishness. Therefore ask not only to see wonders, but to be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.

You remember Elisha, and how he prayed that the eyes of his servant might be opened to see. God indeed opens eyes, but He opens them that we may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe. He opens eyes so that we may walk worthily of the Lord, pleasing Him in all things, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

If you would walk in the Spirit and not only on the earthly level, then walk as those whose eyes have been opened. If you turn from hardness of heart to mercy and almsgiving, you stretch forth the withered hand. If you turn from what darkens the soul and go to the church, to prayer and to the psalms, you cure the lame foot. If you turn your eyes from what is not yours to desire, you open them when they were blind. For all things are naked and opened unto His eyes who judges, and He who is witness and judge knows all things exactly.

So I pray for you now, that the Lord will grant your request according to His will, that He will enlighten your heart, keep you from the wisdom that deceives, and teach you His own wisdom in mystery. May He cause you to walk not by sight of the flesh but by the Spirit, in holiness and in victory over sin, bearing fruit and growing in grace.

May God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ grant you this spirit of wisdom, keep you in faith, and lead you into spiritual victory. Amen.

Your desire to see more of what God is doing and to walk above just the earthly level is a good desire, and God delights to answer it. The very word revelation means an unveiling, a lifting of the covering so that what was there all along can be seen. That is what God wants to do, to unveil Jesus Christ to you more clearly.

There is a spiritual realm all around us that we cannot see with our natural eyes. It is real and it is eternal, and it is not bound by time as we know it. The ability to see into that realm is what the Bible calls a vision. It is not something we can work up on our own, it is God opening our eyes. He did it for the servant of Elisha when the prophet prayed, Lord open his eyes that he may see, and then he saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire. He did it for John when he was shown the things of heaven, most often through visions guided by the Lord and by an angel sent to show him. He did it for the two on the road to Emmaus when their eyes were opened at the breaking of bread and they recognized Jesus.

The greatest unveiling God wants to give you is not simply spiritual experiences, but a clearer sight of Jesus himself. That is the heart of all true revelation. And with that sight comes wisdom. The apostle Paul prayed that believers would be given a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ, that the eyes of their understanding would be enlightened to know the hope of his calling and the riches of his inheritance in the saints. That is my prayer for you, that God would open the eyes of your heart in that way.

Victory in the spiritual life comes from walking close to Jesus and listening for his voice. He says, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him. He opens doors that no one can shut and he closes doors for our good. As you keep your heart open to him, keep his word, and listen for what the Spirit is saying, he will lead you step by step.

I pray that the Father will open your eyes as you have asked, that he will give you wisdom and understanding in Christ, that you will see Jesus more clearly and know his presence and power in daily life, and that you will walk in the victory he has already won for you. May he keep you close to himself and make his will plain to you as you seek him in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift up your request from that night of worship that the Lord would open your eyes and give you revelation to see in the spirit as He did with Elisha, and cause you to walk in the spirit of wisdom. We have prayed that the Father would grant you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him according to Eph 1:17 and that the eyes of your understanding would be enlightened as in Eph 1:18, so that you would not live only on the earthly level but would walk in the supernatural and live in spiritual victory for the glory of God the Father and His Son Jesus, just as you asked when Elisha prayed that his servant would see in 2 Kings 6:17.
