The desire for open doors is right if it is first a desire for the Door Himself. What is every application, every pitch, every initiative if the Lord is not the builder of the house? Labor is vain without Him. Yet you ask for connections, for funders, for helpers, these are not wrong to seek, but the soul must beware lest it open its mouth wide to men and leave it half-closed before Jehovah. He says, Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. This is the voice of the God who brought Israel through the sea. Has He not brought you through your own Egypts? Then stand before Him with a pleading as large as His own promise, not as narrow as your merits. Ask little of men and expect less, but from Him, expect much because He is your God.
The favor you crave is not a currency to be earned by pitch or polished word. It flows from a far deeper fountain. There is a sweet savor in Christ Jesus by which the believing soul is already accepted. Before a single door opens, before a single sponsor nods, the Lord finds pleasure in those He has robed in His Son’s righteousness. This is the true favor, not merely the provision, but the Providential smile behind it. Does Christ’s merit not make your person fragrant before the throne? Then let that be your confidence, not a well-crafted application. His open Heaven is not sealed by wood or bureaucracy; the veil is rent from top to bottom for every child of God.
Still, we must not be idle while pretending to trust. There is a divine command to act. When He thrusts out enemies before us, we then obey the word, Destroy them. So with enterprise. If He opens a door, walk through it diligently. If He calls you to a youth competition, prepare with all your might and then leave the result with Him. The same hand that appoints the season of favor also appoints its tests. Trials strengthen us, sanctify us, and expose the difference between a vision built on pride and one built on Jesus. Do not despise the delay that reveals every unworthy motive. These delays are often His severest mercies, for He will not let you live on the breath of man’s applause.
What are the open evidences that God is in this work? First, does the open Word of God undergird it? If these initiatives are mere schemes for moral betterment without the savor of Christ, they are wood, hay, and stubble. But if the gospel is their heartbeat, then you may claim the promise that His Word will not return void. Second, is there an open change in you that others can see? The man who expects God to open doors for him must himself be an open letter, known and read by all, a life so tinctured with dependence on the Spirit that decision-makers observe something not found in the world’s meritocracy. Let your posture be such that if the Lord withholds the funding, you still bless Him; if He gives it, you tremble to use it only for His glory.
Return to the fountain. Have you grown cold in this flurry of pursuit? Has the pitch deck replaced the prayer closet? Come and wash again. The open fountain that cleansed you first still flows for the child of God. Do not think that strategic networking supersedes the need for constant cleansing from worldliness. A carnal man with a holy vision is a contradiction not tolerated by the Holy Ghost. So bend your knee anew. Confess that every good connection is a divine interposition, not a transaction. When deliverance came from floodwaters, it came from the hand that holds the deeps, not from the drowning man’s own strokes.
Expect divine surprises. The Lord delights to send help from unexpected quarters, humbling our calculations. He will send the right destiny helpers not because you found them, but because He commanded them. Your part is not to fret over the roll of names but to abide in the vine so that whatever fruit comes bears the taste of Heaven. And if the Father is the husbandman, He may prune as well as water. Receive even the shut door as part of His cultivating hand, for He sometimes closes a path to protect you from a future you cannot see.
Therefore, move forward, but with your mouth opened first to God, not to man. Let your boldest ask be for His Spirit’s power to rest on these youths, not merely for a prize to be won. Seek favor not as a bribe to personal ambition but as a means to proclaim the unsearchable riches of Christ among the poor and needy, His poor, His needy, as the Law called them. And if the God who opened the sea before His people chooses not to open a particular resource, praise Him still. The deepest evidence of His favor is not a funded project but a sanctified heart. All earthly doors shall swing shut at the last; the open gate of Heaven, set wide by the pierced hands, no man can close. Let that be the true prize of every endeavor, that many might enter in through your labors, and that the Lamb might receive the full reward of His suffering.
