We join you in this burden and we agree together before the Father in the name of Jesus Christ for conviction, intervention, and true repentance.
We hear the anguish for a soul who has departed from her marriage covenant and we stand on the truth that marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman ordained by God. What God has joined together, let no man separate, as Jesus said in Matt 19:6, and God hates the breaking of that covenant in Mal 2:16. When a married woman pursues other men, whether in person or through online dating and the lust of the heart, Scripture calls it adultery. You shall not commit adultery in Exod 20:14 and Jesus taught that everyone who gazes at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart in Matt 5:28. This is not a small failing but sin against God that requires open confession and forsaking.
We agree with you for the convicting work of the Holy Spirit, for Jesus said when he has come, he will convict the world about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment in John 16:8. We pray that same conviction will pierce her heart and bring her to her senses as the prodigal came to himself in Luke 15:17, that she would say I will arise and go to my father and return to her first husband, for then it was better with her than now. We join you in praying the hedge of thorns in Hos 2:6-7, Therefore behold, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, that she can’t find her paths. She will follow after her lovers, but she won’t overtake them; and she will seek them, but won’t find them. Then she will say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then it was better with me than now. We ask God to make every avenue of adultery and deception fail, to close every door to lovers and imposters, and to remove those online profiles that expose her to evil men and imposters who proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived in 2 Tim 3:13. We pray she will be delivered from every deception, remembering Jesus warned See that no one deceives you in Matt 24:4.
We also pray for her family and her church, for spiritual negligence leaves souls exposed. We ask God to overrule fear of man, for the fear of man proves to be a snare, but whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe in Prov 29:25, and Jesus said Don’t be afraid of those who kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul. Rather, fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna in Matt 10:28. A little yeast grows through the whole lump in Gal 5:9, so compromise in leadership spreads. We pray the pastors will remember that those who teach will receive heavier judgment in James 3:1 and that they must give account for souls in Heb 13:17. The word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword in Heb 4:12 and no creature is hidden from his sight in Heb 4:13. We pray the main pastor will obey the New Testament pattern to rebuke those who sin in the presence of all, that the rest also may be in fear in 1 Tim 5:20, and not repeat the sin of Eli who honored his sons above the Lord, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed in 1 Sam 2:30, a warning fulfilled in 1 Sam 4:17-18. We ask for courage for her sister and others in the church to not fear man but to go to her in love, for he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins in James 5:20, even if it means bearing reproach outside the camp as Jesus suffered outside the gate in Heb 13:12-13.
We pray God will grant repentance, for godly sorrow works repentance to salvation in 2 Cor 7:10 and God grants repentance leading to life in Acts 11:18. We pray with you that she will repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins in Acts 2:38, confessing her sin honestly and forsaking it in Prov 28:13. We agree that she be kept from further entanglement and from conceiving a child in this adulterous pursuit, which would only deepen wounds and complicate restoration, and that she be delivered from temptation and evil as we pray Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil in Matt 6:13 and also in Luke 11:4, and kept from the evil one as Jesus prayed I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one in John 17:15. We pray she will be kept from lies and become a faithful remnant who will do no unrighteousness, nor speak lies in Zeph 3:13.
We also lift you up, for you have asked for wisdom, clarity, inner healing and strength. We pray that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding in Col 1:9, that the Lord will restore your soul and guide you in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake in Ps 23:3, and heal wounds described as wounds and bruises and fresh cuts in Isa 1:6 and the anguish of heart in Jer 4:19. We ask for grace to fast as God chooses, to loose the bonds of wickedness and to let healing spring forth in Isa 58:6-8, and for Holy Spirit strength for daily duties and protection from temptation, sin and evil for you, for her, and for all of us.
Father, we thank You that You do not test us beyond what we can bear and that Jesus answered the ancient serpent with You shall not test the Lord, your God in Matt 4:7, grounded in Deut 6:16 and Exod 17:2, with the same warning not to test Christ in 1 Cor 10:9 and the rebuke for testing God in Ps 78:18 and Ps 95:8-9. We ask You to lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil, let Your Word penetrate every heart, bring this wandering soul to repentance, heal the marriage covenant, take away every snare of online immorality, raise up faithful shepherds who will speak truth in love, and grant us all wisdom and holiness until You restore what sin has broken. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our only access to the Father, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12, amen.
