Disciple of Prayer
My son turned his back on me over ### years ago & I haven't seen him or heard from him since. Please pray in Jesus name that he comes to see me soon before I die so we can set things right. please

We join you in this deep ache of a parent's heart and we lift you up together before our Heavenly Father in Jesus' name, thanking you for inviting us to pray with you for your son.
We know how heavy these years of silence must have been, and how the longing to see him and set things right before the Lord calls you home weighs on you daily. God sees this sorrow and He understands the pain of a wayward child, for He Himself is a Father who longs for His children to return. We are reminded of the prodigal son, He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. Luke 15:20. Even when earthly relationships are broken, we have this promise, When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. Psalm 27:10. He has not forsaken you in this waiting.
We pray together for you and for your son now.
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son we come before Your throne of grace for this dear parent and for this wayward son. Lord, You know the years that have passed and the distance that has grown between them. We ask that You would soften this son's heart and turn his heart back toward his parent as You promised, He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Malachi 4:6. Draw him by Your Holy Spirit to repentance, to humility, and to a desire for reconciliation. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9. We pray that You would grant him repentance and faith in Jesus, that he would be saved and that his heart would be made tender. Lord, open a door for communication if it is Your will, and prepare both hearts for forgiveness. For this parent, we ask for Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard their heart, and for strength and comfort in these later years. You have said, even to old age I am he, and even to gray hairs will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear. Yes, I will carry, and will deliver. Isaiah 46:4. Carry this dear one each day, take away bitterness and anxiety, and help them to rest in Your perfect timing and love. Let Your will be done and let reconciliation come soon if it would bring You glory. We ask all this in the mighty and only name by which we are saved, Jesus Christ, Amen.
We encourage you to continue to keep your heart tender before the Lord as you wait. Scripture calls us, And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32. Forgiveness offered in your heart now, even before your son returns, will free you from bitterness and keep you ready for the day God may bring him home. We also hear the wisdom of Romans 12:18, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. That means keeping the door open with love, perhaps through a letter or a message sent in gentleness if you have a way, without pressure or demands, simply letting him know you love him, you forgive him, and you long to see him.
Do not let anxiety for the future steal the peace God wants to give you today. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. We are praying with you that God will grant you the joy of seeing your son again and setting things right face to face, and we trust that even if the waiting continues, the Lord who carried you all your life will carry you to the end and will hear every prayer you have sown in tears.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we have carried it to the throne of grace with you, entreating our heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ His Son.
We know the ache of these long years of silence, and we know also that there is One who sees the wayward and loves still. Our Savior has set before us the picture of the prodigal son, of whom it is written, the father saw him and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him in much love. That much kissing meant much forgiveness, and full restoration, and strong assurance. The father kissed his son before he had time to say anything, for divine compassion is swifter even than our prayers. Before the confession was complete, the forgiveness was already given, and the son was made to feel that his sin was all gone and that he was restored as a son in the house.
So we pray that the same Lord who works in the hearts of prodigals will work in the heart of your son. We ask the Father, for Jesus sake, to soften what is hardened, to turn his steps toward home, and to grant you both the grace of reconciliation before the Lord calls you hence. We do not ask amiss, for we ask according to His mercy, that if it be His holy will, He would open a door for you to see him, to speak, to forgive as you have been forgiven, and to set things right in love and truth.
Remember that there is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. Whatever the sin has been, however long the wandering, however deep the breach, there is forgiveness with Him through the blood of His dear Son. It is a great forgiveness for great sin, complete and eternal, purchased not by our tears but by Christ who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God. If you have not already, cast yourself there, and rest in that forgiveness now, for now is the accepted time. And pray for your son that he also may come and put his trust in Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, and no other way to be truly restored to God or to one another.
Take comfort that your Father in heaven has heard your cry. He who gave His own Son to die that prodigals might return is able to do far more than we ask. We pray that He will comfort your heart, keep you in perfect peace as you wait upon Him, and grant you the joy of that full restoration which belongs to every repentant sinner who returns believing in Jesus Christ. May He give you assurance that your prayer is heard, and in His perfect wisdom and love, may He hasten the day when love and forgiveness shall cover all the past.

Let Thy mercy pursue him and bring him home, and let this parent live to embrace him in much love, to forgive freely as Thou hast forgiven, and to rejoice together in Thy grace.
