Obeying The NT

We rejoice with you in your desire to obey the New Testament and to be a doer of the Word and not merely a hearer. This is a godly and beautiful hunger that comes from the Holy Spirit working in you, for James 1:22 says But be doers of the word, and not only hearers, deluding your own selves.

We also want to gently remind you of the foundation for this obedience. You did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to ensure you know that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and power to obey. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 tells us There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Our obedience does not save us, but our salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, gives us a new heart and the Holy Spirit to help us walk in obedience out of love, not mere duty.

True obedience to the New Testament flows from love for Christ. Jesus said in John 14:15 If you love me, keep my commandments. And again in John 14:21 One who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him. The Apostle John also writes in 1 John 2:3 This is how we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. We cannot obey in our own strength, but God promises to equip us, for Philippians 2:13 says for it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. And Ezekiel 36:27 says I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my ordinances, and do them.

We encourage you to continue daily in the Word, not just reading but meditating and applying it, praying for understanding, and walking in fellowship with other believers who will encourage you to stay faithful. As you abide in Christ, He will bear fruit through you, for John 15:5 says He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

Let us pray together for you.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We thank You for this dear one who desires to obey Your Word and to honor You by keeping the teachings of the New Testament. We ask that You fill him with a deep love for Jesus and a hunger for Your truth. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon him and give him understanding as he reads, and strength and grace to do what You command. Help him to not be deceived by merely hearing, but to walk in faithful obedience in thought, word, and deed. Guard him from legalism and self reliance, and teach him to obey from a heart of love and gratitude for the salvation You have freely given through Christ. Cause him to abide in Christ daily, to pray without ceasing, and to bear much fruit for Your glory. Forgive him where he falls short, cleanse him, and restore him, and lead him in the path of righteousness. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our righteousness. Amen.

We are thankful you brought this before the Lord so plainly. That desire to be a doer and not just a hearer matters to God, and we are encouraged by your honesty in wanting to follow Him faithfully.

It can feel heavy to hold the whole New Testament in mind at once. What has helped many believers is to walk it out in smaller, steady steps rather than trying to carry everything at once, and to do it alongside others. Jesus taught His first followers up close, life on life, and that kind of partnership still helps us stay faithful.

One simple next step you might try this week is to notice one clear teaching you have been reading lately and ask, what is one ordinary way I can live this out today at home, at work, or with neighbors. Then share that with a trusted pastor or a couple of believers you meet with regularly so they can encourage you and check in. That shared walk often keeps obedience from feeling lonely or abstract.

We are praying for you to have clarity, strength, and joy as you keep following Christ day by day.

Father, we lift ### to You and thank You for the hunger You have placed in his heart to obey You. Give him wisdom to know Your will and grace to walk in it step by step, and surround him with faithful friends who help him stay close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

May Father God and Lord Yeshua bless your faith and give you strength to carry out his will for your life in Lord Yeshuas name amen.

Your prayer is one which the Lord delights to hear, for to be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only is the sure mark of a work of grace in the heart. We join you in this petition and ask our heavenly Father to work in you that obedience of faith which James commends.

We pray that the Holy Spirit, who alone can teach you to understand the Scriptures, will lead you to search the Word of God and keep to it, for there our rule is found. Principles and duties are not to be altered to suit our own sense of what is right, but our sense of duty must be set right by the dictates of the Word of God, which stands fast forever. May He give you grace to read the New Testament impartially and to receive it as the very voice of Christ, whose authority is supreme because from His lips we have received the word which heals the sickness of sin.

We ask that your obedience may be true obedience in its exactness, for the exactness of obedience is the very essence of obedience. Not turning to the right hand or to the left, but keeping the middle path of the Word, may you be very courageous to do whatsoever the Lord Jesus bids you in all things. And may that obedience be prompt and wholehearted, not saying I will go thus far and no further, but running in the way of His commandments.

Remember that we preach the obedience of faith. Faith is the fountain and the fosterer of obedience, the morning star which goes before it. Obedience which is not cheerfully rendered is not the obedience of the heart, and is of little worth before God. We therefore pray not for the obedience of a slave, tuned to the crack of the whip, but for the obedience of a child, rendered in love and not in terror, because you have believed the teaching of Christ and are resting in His finished work. If we are not obedient unto Christ we may rest assured we have not the spirit of Christ, but where faith lives, practical piety and real godliness carried out in ordinary life will follow.

May the same power which first said to you, Rise and live, now say to you, Take up your bed and walk, and may that word constrain you to keep His precepts. It is not the mere hearers of the Word but the doers of it who are blessed. May the Lord give you grace to be a doer, to the praise of His grace and to the comfort of your own soul.

We commend you to Him who is able to make you obedient children, conformed to the image of His Son, and we ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. Amen.
