We come before the throne of grace with a heavy heart for your friend, lifting him up in prayer. It is written in Ezekiel 36:26-27, "I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them." We pray that the Lord would soften his heart and open his ears to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit calling him to repentance and surrender.
Father, we ask that You would convict him of his sin and reveal to him the wickedness of his ways. Let him see the destruction that his disobedience is causing in his life and the lives of those around him. We pray that he would recognize the emptiness of a life lived apart from You and the fullness of joy that comes from walking in Your ways. As it is written in John 10:27, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
We rebuke the spirit of rebellion and hardness of heart that may be at work in his life. We command it to leave in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We pray that he would surrender his will to Yours, Lord, and submit himself fully to Your lordship. Help him to understand that true freedom is found only in obedience to You.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment for those who are speaking into his life. Give them the words to say and the courage to say them, that they may be instruments of Your grace and truth. Surround him with godly influences who will encourage him in his walk with You.
Lord, we know that apart from You, we can do nothing. We ask that You would draw him to Yourself, that he may experience the love and forgiveness that is found only in Jesus Christ. We pray that he would confess his sins, repent, and turn to You with all his heart. As it is written in 1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
We pray that he would come to know You more intimately, that he would seek Your face and desire to live a life that is pleasing to You. Strengthen him in his faith and help him to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
