Noise again - nap and reading Bible

Natasha 2

Beloved of All
The one in garage stoped with noise but now someone in the building makes very big noise with drilling machine. Its ### pm. I just wanted to read Bible and take a nap. Lord please remove that devil. I am really sleepy and i want to read a Bible. Please pray that it will be total peace and silence amen. Until i rest fully. Amen!!

We understand your frustration and exhaustion, dear brother or sister in Christ. It is indeed challenging when we seek quiet moments to rest and spend time in God’s Word, only to be disrupted by the noise of this world. Let us come before the Lord together, lifting your need for peace and silence so you may find rest and communion with Him.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 46:10, "Be still, and know that I am God." Even in the midst of disturbance, God calls us to stillness of heart, trusting in His sovereignty over all things. We also recall Philippians 4:6-7, which says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Though the noise may persist outwardly, we pray that God’s peace would reign in your heart and mind.

We rebuke the spirit of distraction and chaos in Jesus’ name, for it seeks to steal your peace and hinder your time with the Lord. The enemy comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life abundantly (John 10:10). We stand on the authority of Christ and command every disruptive force to cease in the mighty name of Jesus. We declare that your home and your heart will be a sanctuary of peace, where the presence of God dwells and His Word is cherished.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother/sister to You, asking that You would bring complete silence and peace to their surroundings. Lord, You are the God who calms the storms and quiets the waves, we ask that You would silence every disturbance that seeks to disrupt their rest and time with You. Grant them the stillness they need to hear Your voice and find renewal in Your presence.

Father, we rebuke every spirit of chaos and distraction that is at work in this situation. We declare that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command every disruptive force to flee in the name of Jesus. Fill this space with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and let Your presence be their comfort and strength.

Lord, we also ask that You would guard their heart and mind. Help them to fix their eyes on You, even in the midst of noise, knowing that You are their refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1). Renew their strength as they wait upon You, and grant them the rest they so desperately need. May Your Word be a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105), and may they find joy and encouragement in Your promises.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your perfect timing. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to meditate on God’s Word even in the midst of the noise. Sometimes, the Lord uses these moments to teach us to find peace in Him alone, rather than in our circumstances. Consider playing soft worship music or hymns to drown out the noise, or use this time to pray in the Spirit, allowing God to minister to your heart. Remember, "The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth" (Psalm 145:18). He hears you, and He is with you.

We understand how frustrating this afternoon has felt. You finally got a break from the garage noise and were looking forward to a nap and time reading your Bible, and then the drilling started. It makes sense you feel tired and disappointed.

We are praying with you for rest and for quiet to return soon. While we wait, we have found it helps to remember peace is not only the absence of sound outside, but the quiet God can give inside even when the building is noisy. That does not make the drilling less disruptive, but it can help guard your heart from feeling robbed of your time with Him.

A small step that sometimes helps in an apartment building is to protect the next hour as best you can, maybe with simple foam earplugs or moving to the quietest room for your reading, and if the drilling continues past usual work hours, a brief kind note to the manager about quiet hours. And if you are able to rest even a little now, that is good.

Father, we lift up our tired friend to You in Jesus name. Grant refreshing sleep, calm the heart, and make space for Your Word to be heard today. Bring quiet to the building when You will, and give deep inner rest that remains even in noise. Amen.

Your longing for a quiet hour to open the precious Bible and to take needful sleep is heard by the Lord who watches over His people without slumber. It is a trial when noise breaks in upon the very time set apart for rest and for musing upon the Word, and weariness makes the disturbance feel greater still.

There is nothing equal to the Bible for inflaming and sanctifying and turning in the right direction all the passions of the soul, and to have it in the heart to be loved and remembered is a rich mercy. The man who reads that one Book and then muses much upon it will be a better scholar in Christ's school than he who merely reads many books and muses not at all. Yet even when outward quiet is denied, there is an inward quiet to be sought. The promise stands, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. That perfect peace may be enjoyed even in this dark world of sin, for the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, and to do the will of Jesus is rest. To be sure that what you are enduring is under His hand, and to stay your mind upon Him there, is itself a form of rest when duties press and noises throng.

The Lord has taught His people to rest in the Lord, a precept easier to read than to practice, yet blessedly easy when grace is given. Come to Jesus now by an act of faith and He gives rest at once, not partial rest but perfect rest in His blood and righteousness. It is a present rest, rest now, not only rest after death. And He giveth His beloved sleep, the sleep of a quiet conscience at peace with God through Christ, a treasure upon the breast which allows the weary body to breathe softly and be restored. The rest of heaven is not mere sleep, but holy activity which is perfect rest, and even here He teaches us to sleep upon the wing, to labor and yet to rest in Him.

We pray with you now that the Lord in His kindness would grant a season of stillness for your dwelling, that the drilling and loud sounds would cease for a time, and that you may read the Word with an undistracted mind and take the sleep your body needs. May He keep you in perfect peace as your mind is stayed upon Him, may He make the Scriptures sweet to your meditation, and may He give you the sleep of His beloved, restoring strength and quieting the heart. May that inward peace remain even if outward noise returns, until you have rested fully and risen refreshed to serve Him. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your weariness and desire for quiet to rest and to hear God's word is understandable, and God hears that desire. It is frustrating when you have set aside time to sleep and to read the Bible and loud noise interrupts you again, first from the garage and now drilling in the building.

I will pray with you for the quiet you are seeking, and I also want to encourage you with what Scripture teaches about peace and rest.

The Scripture says to pray that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty, for this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior. That quiet life is a good gift to ask for, and it is right to bring your need for rest before the Lord. At the same time, the greatest peace God gives is not only silence outside us, but peace within us. There is a public peace when wars cease, and there is a private peace when others are at peace with us, but the most important peace is when the soul is at peace with itself before God, not stirred up by anger or restlessness. Even when the world is noisy, we can guard our hearts and remain steadfast, because the Lord who keeps you does not slumber or sleep, and He will not suffer your foot to be moved when you trust in Him.

Sleep itself is a mercy from God. He has made night as a haven and sleep as medicine for our weariness, and He gives it even when our circumstances are difficult. It is good to thank Him for that gift and to ask Him to grant you refreshing rest now.

I also gently encourage you not to speak of your neighbor as the devil. That person, even with a loud drill, is made in God's image and is someone Christ calls us to love and pray for. It is better to pray for patience and for kindness toward them, while also asking God to provide quiet.

Let us pray together:

Father in heaven, thank you that you neither slumber nor sleep and that you watch over your children with constant care. Thank you for giving sleep to the weary and for giving your word to nourish us. I ask you to grant quiet in this building now, to still the drilling and other loud noises, and to give your child a time of true rest and uninterrupted time to read the Bible. Fill the heart with your peace that passes understanding, so that even if noise continues for a little while, there may be calm within. Teach us to be steadfast and unmoveable in you, to guard our hearts from anger, and to love our neighbors as you have loved us. Grant a quiet and peaceable life in godliness and honesty, as you see best. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

If the noise continues, consider a simple help like earplugs or a quiet corner for a short time, and when you are rested, you may be able to speak kindly to your neighbor about the timing of loud work. May the God of love and peace be with you and grant you full rest.
