Beloved of All
🙌 Father, You know me... I waited over two decades, prayed for a godly wife, was overly choosey, passed ones that loved me and married one who hated me -- I confess that in this regard the stinging rebuke of Joab to David when he mourned for Absalom applies to acutely to me, "You love those who hate You and Hate Those Who love You," 2 Sam 19:6, so I repent of loving someone that hates me, at least emotionally, but I love and marry for life, so it's very hard and against my natural disposition. But "Here I stand," Luther said. I cannot change myself or move on without Your help and clarity to do so... Thus the prayer...

🙇🏻 Father, Paul's heart's desire and prayer to You for Israel was that they'd be saved, Rom 10:1. He expressed gut-wrenching grief and anguish over the majority of Israel and it springs him into the deepest contemplations on sovereignty and election offered in the Bible, Rom 9:1-33, deeper than Jesus mentions several times, John 6:44, Matt 10:25, John 10:2-42. He goes on to say some of the reasons they stumbled and warns us to not make the same mistake: "They ignored Your way of making us righteous by having the Messiah not come on His first coming as a "Heroic Lion" but as a "Sacrificial Lamb," and sought rather to set up their own standard as an idol to worship rather than submit to the Messiah, Rom 10:1-4.

🤷🏻‍♂️ Well such topics are beyond my pay grade, as Augustine says, "I can see the well, and know it is deep, but cannot fathom the depths of these things for they are unfathomable." But I can ask, Paul still did even though You told him they would not receive his testimony, though they knew him as the most zealous Christian-hater that had ever walked the earth up to His encounter with the Risen Lord Jesus who he was actually persecuting. We're thankful You saved him, Jesus...

So here we shift from remorse and bewilderment to what we can do since we are quite powerless -- We can ask GOD, El Shaddai, ALMIGHTY -- for whom nothing is impossible, nothing You can't do -- omnipotent, Παντοκράτωρ (All Powerful, Almighty), Rev 19:6, For Salvation of Family, Effective Witness to Friends, Lost, Edification of Former Things, Rom 10:1, Rom 11:1, 2 Tim 3:15, Focus on God, Ourselves, Our Teaching, 1 Tim 4:16, Grace for Duties, Tit 3:14, and Especially Grace to Shift Main Focus to New Things Isa 42:9, Care for The Flock Among Us, Acts 20:28, Grace to Do Both Ecc 7:18, Open Doors for Gospel, Rev 3:7-8, Favor as a Shield, Ps 5:12, Wisdom and Full Knowledge of Your Will, Col 1:9-12, Love to Abound with Insight, Phil 1:9-11...

🙏 Our Father in Heaven, We ask for grace to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other, Ecclesiastes 7:18, to continue to intercede for her full, authentic repentance to life and full trust in Christ and be regenerated, and youngster be saved and graciously filled with the Holy Spirit, Jer 1:5, Lk 1:15, and protected and directed into the love and character of Jesus Christ, nourished on Your Word, 2 Tim 3:15, brought up in the admonition of Yahweh, Eph 6:1-4, respect godly authority, 1 Tim 5:17... Yet ability to shift some FOCUS on THE NEW and meet pressing needs must needs be at present, Isa 42:9, Isa 43:19, Isa 48:6.

🙏 So we ask You open a door for Heaven, Nearness, and doors to express the overflow of the Holy Spirit to Bible Studies, Prayer Meetings and for the lost to hear the Gospel, kindly work while we keep still, Exodus 14:14, and empower us to glorify You, to image God, which were it possible, we would not ask and trust You for it. I ask for grace to set all things in order, Tit 1:5, strengthen and finish each task, Rev 3:2, and meet every pressing need, Tit 3:14.

🙏 Help our running to be in a way that we might win, 1 Cor 9:24, forgetting what lies behind and pressing toward the upward call, Phil 3:13-14, laying aside encumbrances and diversions that distract us from the primary task of Your call and commission to abide in Your Word and make disciples by propagating all You've commanded, that we might run the race that is personally set before each of us, Heb 12:1-2... Thank You for the Your love and leadership, the fellowship of abiding in Christ and guidance of The Holy Spirit, John 10:3-4, Rom 8:14, grace to intercede for and forget the past AND for grace to navigate going forward, James 1:5, new evangelism, encouragement, discipleship, fellowship with The Body and Bride of Christ, and formal study, Ecclesiastes 7:18. We ask for protection from temptation, Luke 11:4, sin, Zeph 3:13, evil, Matt 6:13, evil people, 2 Thes 3:2, and the evil one, John 17:15. Thank You in Jesus' Name...[/size]

We join you in this honest and humbling confession before the Father and we thank you for sharing the deep burden of your heart with us. We hear your remorse over waiting so long and being overly choosy, and your painful realization that you passed by those who loved you and entered into a lifelong covenant with one who has shown hatred toward you. Your application of 2 Samuel 19:6 to yourself shows a tender conscience, and we affirm your repentance before the Lord. It is right to confess when our affections have been misplaced, and we praise God that you hold fast to the truth that marriage is for life.

We want to encourage you that your instinct to stand firm is pleasing to God. We believe marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God, and it is not to be broken lightly because of emotional pain or even hatred. As it is written, What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Mark 10:9. And again, Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, Ephesians 5:25. Christ loved us while we were still enemies, Romans 5:8, and He calls husbands to that same costly, enduring love. Your natural disposition may find it very hard, as you said, but apart from Him you can do nothing, John 15:5. Your dependence on His help and clarity is exactly where He wants you, for He resists the proud but gives grace to the humble, James 4:6.

We also join you in holding the tension you expressed so well from Ecclesiastes 7:18, It is good that you should take hold of this, and also from that not withdraw your hand. You are asking for grace to do both, to continue to intercede faithfully for your wife and your little one, and at the same time to shift your main focus to the new things God is doing. This is biblical wisdom. We are called to watch over ourselves and over our teaching, 1 Timothy 4:16, and to learn to maintain good works to meet necessary needs, that we may not be unfruitful, Titus 3:14. Forgetting what lies behind and pressing forward is not unfaithfulness to your vows, it is obedience to the upward calling, Philippians 3:13-14. Laying aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, Hebrews 12:1-2.

We are moved by your heart for your family even as the Apostle Paul had great sorrow and unceasing pain in his heart for his kinsmen, Romans 9:2, and his heart's desire and his prayer to God was for Israel that they might be saved, Romans 10:1. You are right that the depths of sovereignty and election are deep, and we too confess we cannot fathom them, yet we can pray, for nothing is impossible with God, Luke 1:37. We rejoice with you that Jesus saves even the most zealous persecutor, as He did Paul, and that He is still mighty to save. Behold, the former things have happened and new things do I declare, Isaiah 42:9. And again, Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now, Isaiah 43:19.

So we pray together with you in Jesus' name, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me, John 14:6, and there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12.

Our Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace through the blood of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for this brother's humble and contrite heart and for his desire to honor his marriage covenant for life. Lord, forgive him for any pride or misguided affections in the past and cleanse him and strengthen him to love his wife as Christ loves the church, even when that love is not returned. We ask You to pour out Your Spirit upon his wife, grant her authentic repentance that leads to life and true regeneration through faith in Jesus Christ. Save her, Lord, and draw her to Yourself.

We lift up their little one to You. You knew this child before formation in the womb, Jeremiah 1:5, and we ask that You would save this child early, fill this child with Your Holy Spirit even from youth, Luke 1:15, protect this child from evil and the evil one, John 17:15, nourish this child in Your Word which is able to make wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, 2 Timothy 3:15, and enable this dear brother to bring this child up in Your nurture and admonition, Ephesians 6:4.

Father, grant this brother grace to take hold of the one without letting go of the other. Give him wisdom and the full knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, Colossians 1:9, and cause his love to abound still more in knowledge and all discernment, Philippians 1:9. Empower him to abide in Christ and bear much fruit, to set all things in order, Titus 1:5, to strengthen and complete the work You have given him, Revelation 3:2, and to diligently meet every pressing need. Open to him a door that no one can shut, Revelation 3:8, for Bible studies, prayer meetings, and for the Gospel to go forth to the lost. Let Your favor surround him as a shield, Psalm 5:12. Teach him to be still and know that You will fight for him, Exodus 14:14, while You also empower him to run in such a way that he may win the prize, 1 Corinthians 9:24, and to shepherd well the flock among him, Acts 20:28.

Guard him from temptation, Luke 11:4, deliver him from evil, Matthew 6:13, and from evil people, 2 Thessalonians 3:2. Lead him by Your Spirit, Romans 8:14, as a shepherd who calls his own sheep by name and leads them out, John 10:3. May he experience Your nearness and the overflow of the Holy Spirit in all his duties and in the new things You are declaring. We trust You for all of this, not by our might but by Your Almighty power, for You reign as Lord God, the Almighty, Revelation 19:6. We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We were moved by your honesty, the long wait, the regret over choices made, and the clear desire to honor your marriage for life while still seeking God for what is ahead. It takes real humility to name that before the Lord, and we hear how much you want both to keep faithful in prayer for your wife and little one and to have clear strength for the work now in front of you.

Holding those two together can feel like being pulled in opposite directions. What helped us as we read your prayer is how you put it, to take hold of one without letting go of the other. That tension is not failure, it is the place where we learn to depend on Christ day by day rather than carrying it all ourselves.

One small practice that often helps when many pressing needs crowd in is to give each part its own space. Perhaps set a brief, regular time to intercede for your family, and separately list two or three of the most pressing duties for this week, the flock among you, a Bible study or meeting, a task that needs finishing, and give those focused attention. Keeping them distinct can bring a little more peace and steadiness to both.

Father, we bring this brother and his family before You. Draw near to him, give him wisdom for each duty, open doors for Your Word to be heard, and keep his wife and child in Your care. Guard him from discouragement and from evil, and form his heart more deeply in Christ as he looks to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so.
