Beloved of All
๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿป New Things Isa 42:9, Continue Prayer for Wife, Family Rom 10:1; Your Help to Focus on Duties Tit 3:14, Need Your Help John 15:5, DO Both Ecc 7:18...

๐Ÿ™Œ Father, You know me... I waited over two decades, prayed for a godly wife, was overly choosey, passed up ones that loved me and married one who hated me -- I confess that in this regard the stinging rebuke of Joab to David when he mourned for Absalom applies to acutely to me, "You love those who hate You and Hate Those Who love You," 2 Sam 19:6, so I repent of loving someone that hates me, at least emotionally, but I love and marry for life, so it's very hard and against my natural disposition. But "Here I stand," Luther said -- I cannot change myself... Thus the prayer...

๐Ÿ™‡๐Ÿป Father, Paul's heart's desire and prayer to You for Israel was that they'd be saved, Rom 10:1. He expressed gut-wrenching grief and anguish over the majority of Israel and it springs him into the deepest contemplations on sovereignty and election offered in the Bible, Rom 9:1-33, deeper than Jesus mentions several times, John 6:44, Matt 10:25, John 10:2-42. He goes on to say some of the reasons they stumbled and warns us to not make the same mistake: "They ignored Your way of making us righteous by having the Messiah not come on His first coming as a "Heroic Lion" but as a "Sacrificial Lamb," and sought rather to set up their own standard as an idol to worship rather than submit to the Messiah, Rom 10:1-4.

๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ Well such topics are beyond my pay grade, as Augustine says, "I can see the well, and know it is deep, but cannot fathom the depths of these things for they are unfathomable." But I can ask, Paul still did even though You told him they would not receive his testimony, though they knew him as the most zealous Christian-hater that had ever walked the earth up to His encounter with the Risen Lord Jesus who he was actually persecuting. We're thankful You saved him, Jesus...

So here we shift from remorse and bewilderment to what we can do since we are quite powerless -- We can ask GOD, El Shaddai, ALMIGHTY -- for whom nothing is impossible, nothing You can't do -- omnipotent, ฮ ฮฑฮฝฯ„ฮฟฮบฯฮฌฯ„ฯ‰ฯ (All Powerful, Almighty), Rev 19:6, For Salvation of Family, Effective Witness to Friends, Lost, Edification of Former Things, Rom 10:1, Rom 11:1, 2 Tim 3:15, Focus on God, Ourselves, Our Teaching, 1 Tim 4:16, Grace for Duties, Tit 3:14, and Especially Grace to Shift Main Focus to New Things Isa 42:9, Care for The Flock Among Us, Acts 20:28, Grace to Do Both Ecc 7:18, Open Doors for Gospel, Rev 3:7-8, Favor as a Shield, Ps 5:12, Wisdom and Full Knowledge of Your Will, Col 1:9-12, Love to Abound with Insight, Phil 1:9-11...

๐Ÿ™ Our Father in Heaven, We ask for grace to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other, Ecclesiastes 7:18, to continue to intercede for her full, authentic repentance to life and full trust in Christ and be regenerated, and youngster be saved and graciously filled with the Holy Spirit, Jer 1:5, Lk 1:15, and protected and directed into the love and character of Jesus Christ, nourished on Your Word, 2 Tim 3:15, brought up in the admonition of Yahweh, Eph 6:1-4, respect godly authority, 1 Tim 5:17... Yet ability to shift some FOCUS on THE NEW and meet pressing needs must needs be at present, Isa 42:9, Isa 43:19, Isa 48:6.

๐Ÿ™ So we ask You open a door for Heaven, Nearness, and doors to express the overflow of the Holy Spirit to Bible Studies, Prayer Meetings and for the lost to hear the Gospel, kindly work while we keep still, Exodus 14:14, and empower us to glorify You, to image God, which were it possible, we would not ask and trust You for it. I ask for grace to set all things in order, Tit 1:5, strengthen and finish each task, Rev 3:2, and meet every pressing need, Tit 3:14.

๐Ÿ™ Help our running to be in a way that we might win, 1 Cor 9:24, forgetting what lies behind and pressing toward the upward call, Phil 3:13-14, laying aside encumbrances and diversions that distract us from the primary task of Your call and commission to abide in Your Word and make disciples by propagating all You've commanded, that we might run the race that is personally set before each of us, Heb 12:1-2... Thank You for the Your love and leadership, the fellowship of abiding in Christ and guidance of The Holy Spirit, John 10:3-4, Rom 8:14, grace to intercede for and forget the past AND for grace to navigate going forward, James 1:5, new evangelism, encouragement, discipleship, fellowship with The Body and Bride of Christ, and formal study, Ecclesiastes 7:18. We ask for protection from temptation, Luke 11:4, sin, Zeph 3:13, evil, Matt 6:13, evil people, 2 Thes 3:2, and the evil one, John 17:15. Thank You in Jesus' Name...

We hear the weight and honesty of your heart in this prayer, and we join with you before our Father in seeking His will together in Jesus' name.

You have waited long and you have taken marriage as God intends it, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and we commend you for holding fast to that commitment even when it is hard and against your natural disposition. For this is how Scripture describes love within marriage, not merely as an emotion that responds to being loved in return, but as a covenant choice. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, Ephesians 5:25. And again, Love is patient and is kind, love does not envy, 1 Corinthians 13:4. We gently correct the thought that you must repent of loving your wife because she has shown hatred toward you. The rebuke of Joab to David in 2 Samuel 19:6 was concerning David loving his rebellious son Absalom who sought to overthrow the kingdom and hating those loyal to the Lord's anointed, which is a different matter than a husband's calling to love his wife. Even when love is not returned, we are called to love with Christ's enduring love, while also speaking truth and seeking her good, which includes praying earnestly for her genuine repentance and new birth. That you continue to intercede for her full, authentic repentance to life and faith in Christ is right and pleasing to God, and we join you in it.

We also hear your wrestling with sovereignty and election as Paul expresses in Romans 9:1-33 and Romans 10:1-4, and your humility in saying such depths are beyond you is wise. As you quoted Augustine, the well is deep. Yet you are right to do what Paul did, to keep praying. Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God is for Israel, that they may be saved, Romans 10:1. Though we know that no one can come to me, unless the Father who sent me draws him, John 6:44, we also know that God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Timothy 2:4, and He commands us to pray and to proclaim the gospel. Your powerlessness is not a failure, it is the very place where Christ's power is shown, for apart from Him we can do nothing. I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing, John 15:5. Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still, Exodus 14:14.

You ask for grace to do both, to hold fast to intercession for your wife and family without letting go of the new duties God has set before you, and this is biblical wisdom. It is good that you should take hold of this. Yes, also from that don't withdraw your hand; for he who fears God will come out of them all, Ecclesiastes 7:18. We are called to remember, Behold, the former things have happened, and I declare new things. I tell you about them before they come up, Isaiah 42:9, and also Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don't you know it? Isaiah 43:19, while not forgetting to pray for those we love. You are asking rightly for grace to focus on God, yourself, and your teaching, that you may save both yourself and those who hear you, 1 Timothy 4:16, and to learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they may not be unfruitful, Titus 3:14, and to set in order the things that were lacking, Titus 1:5.

We rejoice that you have closed this prayer in Jesus' name, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12, and In him we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him, Ephesians 3:12. It is only through Jesus, who said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, that our prayers are heard.

So we pray together with you now.

Our Father in heaven, we thank You that You are El Shaddai, the Almighty, for whom nothing is impossible, and that You reign, Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns, Revelation 19:6. We ask in Jesus' name that You would grant our brother grace to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other. Sustain his covenant love for his wife and give him endurance to love as Christ loves, and we plead for her salvation, that You would grant her repentance leading to life and regenerate her by Your Spirit, that she would submit to Your righteousness through Christ and trust Him fully. We pray for the young child, that You who formed him, Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you, Jeremiah 1:5, would draw him early to Yourself, fill him with Your Holy Spirit even from his youth as You did John, he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb, Luke 1:15, nourish him in Your Word, that from infancy he would know the holy Scriptures which are able to make him wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus, 2 Timothy 3:15, and bring him up in the training and admonition of the Lord, Ephesians 6:4.

Father, grant wisdom and grace to shift focus to the new things You are declaring, to care for the flock among us, Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the assembly of the Lord and God which he purchased with his own blood, Acts 20:28. Open doors for the gospel as only You can, Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one can shut, Revelation 3:8, give favor as a shield, For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield, Psalm 5:12, and fill him with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, Colossians 1:9. Teach him to abound in love with knowledge and discernment, that love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment, Philippians 1:9, to set all things in order and to finish each task You have given, that he may not be unfruitful.

Help him to run to win, Don't you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win, 1 Corinthians 9:24, forgetting the things which are behind and stretching forward to the things which are before, pressing toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus, Philippians 3:13-14, laying aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and running with perseverance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, Hebrews 12:1-2. Lead him by Your Spirit, for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God, Romans 8:14, and give him Your wisdom liberally as You have promised, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5.

We ask for Your protection over him and his household from temptation, Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, Matthew 6:13, and from evil people and the evil one himself, that you may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men, 2 Thessalonians 3:2, and Keep them from the evil one, John 17:15. Let Your Holy Spirit overflow through him to Bible studies, prayer meetings, and to the lost who need to hear the gospel, and empower him to glorify You and to bear Your image as he abides in Christ.

We thank You for hearing us, for Your love and leadership, and for the fellowship of abiding in Christ. We trust You to work while we keep still and to complete what You have begun. In the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We hear how heavy this has been, waiting long, looking back with regret, and now choosing day by day to love faithfully within the covenant you made. Thank you for trusting us with that story. Your longing to keep praying for your wife and youngster to know Christ, and at the same time to be present and diligent in the duties and flock God has entrusted to you, makes sense. Holding both without dropping either is hard work.

It may help to give each part a clear, limited place. Keeping a set time to intercede for your family and a separate set time to attend to the pressing tasks and people in front of you can keep one from crowding out the other, and keep you from carrying both all at once. Walking this out with one trusted pastor or mature brother who knows you, can check in weekly and help you sort what is most pressing, can also lighten the load.

We are carrying you and your family before the Lord.

Father, we bring this brother before You and ask for quiet strength for each day, wisdom to know what to tend to first, and grace to remain faithful in his home and in his calling. Draw his wife and child close to Yourself, keep them under Your care, and open doors for Your word to be heard. Guard his heart from discouragement and keep him near You as he looks to what is new. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

Your prayer has been laid before the Lord with a tender and honest confession, and we join our hearts with yours in it. You speak plainly of long waiting, of choices made and of a sorrowful discovery that you have loved where love was not returned, and yet you hold fast to that which God has joined together as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman. This resolve is right and honourable in the sight of God, for marriage is not to be put asunder at the will of man, and fidelity within it, with all purity belonging only within it, is the path of obedience. To repent where you have loved unwisely, and yet to stand firm where you have vowed before God, is to take hold of one thing without letting go of the other, and we pray that grace may be given you to do both.

We hear in your words the very spirit of the apostle when he said his heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel was that they might be saved. He knew the depths of sovereignty and election, that salvation is of the Lord from first to last, and yet he did not cease to pray and to preach. So you also, though you feel powerless and though Augustine well said that the well is deep and unfathomable, are taught to look unto Him and be saved, and to look unto Him for the saving of your household. Salvation is divine in its planning, divine in its provision, and divine in its application. It was God's before it was ever yours. It is not your own in the sense of your earning, but it becomes your own when by faith you rejoice in His salvation. The only salvation worth having is God's salvation, wrought by Christ crucified, risen and interceding, offered without money and without price.

Therefore we urge upon you that scriptural salvation which is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Believe on Him. In His death He is the propitiation for sin, in His resurrection He is the justification of His people, and in His intercession He is the guarantee of their preservation. There is a sweet reasonableness in a Substitute for guilty men, and there is no other way for any sinner, whether moral or profane, but to look to Christ in a moment and live. If you have this salvation, it is a present salvation, not only a hope for dying but a power for living, and it is a perfect salvation, kept by the power of God through faith unto the end. Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Abide in Him, for without Him you can do nothing, and with Him you shall be fruitful in every good work and meet every pressing need as Titus was exhorted.

For your wife and your little one we will not cease to pray. The Lord has shown that He delights in household salvation, that when the word of the Lord was spoken in the jailer's house, all that were in his house heard it, and the whole family rejoiced, believing in God. We pray that your wife may be granted full and authentic repentance unto life, that she may be regenerated by the Holy Spirit and may come to a true and living trust in Christ, and that your child, whom God knew before he was formed, may be graciously saved and filled with the Holy Spirit, nourished up in the Word which is able to make wise unto salvation, and brought up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Children are not saved by any natural innocence, for they are born in sin, but they are saved in the same way as adults, by the same blood and the same grace, and Jesus has shown a special love toward little ones, taking them in His arms and blessing them. We ask the Lord to set a shield of favour about your home and to keep you all from sin and from evil and from the evil one.

And for yourself we ask grace to shift your gaze from what lies behind to what lies before, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forth unto those things which are before, pressing toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. May the Lord teach you to run so as to win, laying aside every weight, and to strengthen the things that remain. May He open doors which no man can shut for the preaching of the gospel, for Bible study and prayer and the edifying of the flock among you, and may He grant you wisdom and full knowledge of His will, that love may abound with insight, and that you may be fruitful, patient and joyful, giving thanks unto the Father.

Our Father in heaven, we ask for this brother that Thou wouldst grant him grace to intercede without ceasing and yet to labour with diligence, to keep the vow of marriage in holiness and love, to trust Christ alone for his own salvation and to rejoice in Thy salvation, to see his wife and child brought by free grace to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, to be kept from temptation and delivered from evil, and to be made steadfast in every good work to meet pressing needs, that Thou mayest be glorified in him and in his house. Keep him abiding in Christ, near to Thee, and faithful to the end, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Father, humbly ask for Your power to intervene. Please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26
