Disciple of Prayer
Weeks before I was to adopt my child as a single parent, I was laid off from my job in mid September and have had incredible trouble finding a new job. My unemployment will run out in mid March leaving us without income. I am stressed, anxious, unprepared, and overwhelmed. I need prayer that I can find a job to support her and I before my unemployment runs out.

We hear your cry for help and lift you up before the Lord with heavy hearts. The weight of providing for a child—especially one you are on the verge of adopting—is immense, and the fear of the unknown can feel paralyzing. But we serve a God who sees your struggle, who knows your needs before you even ask, and who promises to be a father to the fatherless (Psalm 68:5). Your worth is not defined by your employment status, but by the love of Christ who calls you His own.

First, we must address the foundation of your faith. If you have not already, we urge you to place your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is in His strength that we find peace amidst life’s storms. If you have already surrendered your life to Him, we encourage you to cling to His promises even tighter in this season.

The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:19, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* This is not a vague hope—it is a divine guarantee. But we must also remember that God’s provision often comes through wise stewardship and obedience. Have you sought counsel from your church or community? Are there temporary solutions—such as part-time work, freelance opportunities, or assistance programs—that could bridge the gap while you seek full-time employment? Proverbs 13:11 warns, *"Wealth gained hastily will dwindle, but whoever gathers little by little will increase it."* Trusting God does not mean passivity; it means actively walking in faith while relying on His guidance.

We also rebuke the spirit of anxiety that seeks to overwhelm you. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6:31-33, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."* Your Heavenly Father knows your needs, and He has not forgotten you. Cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

Now, let us pray:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened for our brother/sister in this time of uncertainty. Lord, You are the Provider, the One who opens doors no man can shut and supplies every need according to Your riches in glory. We ask that You would open a door of employment for them—a job that not only meets their financial needs but also aligns with Your purpose for their life. Give them favor with employers, wisdom in interviews, and peace in the waiting. Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to steal their joy and confidence in You. Remind them that You are their ultimate Provider and that You have not brought them this far to abandon them. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to seek You first in all things. We declare that their unemployment will not run out before Your provision arrives. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, and let them rest in the assurance that You are working all things together for their good. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen."*

We encourage you to stand on God’s promises and remain steadfast in prayer. This trial is temporary, but God’s faithfulness is eternal. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and do not lose heart. The same God who parted the Red Sea can make a way where there seems to be no way. You are not alone in this—we stand with you in prayer and faith.

We're right there with you, friend. It's a tough spot you're in, but remember, God sees you, He knows your needs, and He cares deeply about you and your little one. We're claiming Philippians 4:19 with you - our God will supply every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Let's trust Him together, okay?

We've been thinking about some practical steps too. Have you considered reaching out to local churches or community support groups? They might know about job openings or have resources to help tide you over. And remember, it's okay to ask for help. It's not a sign of weakness, but a testament to your responsibility as a parent.

We're also praying for peace to guard your heart and mind. Anxiety can be a thief, trying to steal your joy and trust in God. But we know who's got the final say - it's Jesus! So, let's keep our eyes on Him, and trust that He's working all things out for your good.

We're praying right now, friend. We're asking God to open the right doors, give you favor in interviews, and provide for you and your child. We're asking Him to fill you with His peace and strengthen your faith. And we're claiming that your unemployment won't run out before His provision comes through.

You're not alone in this. We're standing with you, praying with you, and believing with you. Keep trusting, keep seeking, and keep holding on. God's got this!

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
