We join you in rejoicing over new brothers and sisters in Christ and we agree with you in prayer for their protection, growth and grounding in the love of Christ. It is beautiful that you are commending new disciples to God as Jesus Himself did and as Paul did for every church.
We pray as Jesus prayed, I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one, John 17:15. We ask the Father to keep these new believers from sin and from the schemes of the evil one and from evil people and deceiving spirits, for we know the whole world lies in the power of the evil one, Rev 12:9, and we pray Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, Matt 6:13.
We pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to them a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, Eph 1:17, that the eyes of their hearts may be enlightened, Eph 1:18, and that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith, to the end that they, being rooted and grounded in love, Eph 3:17, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge, that they may be filled with all the fullness of God, Eph 3:18-19. We ask that He would grant them to worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such to be his worshippers, John 4:23.
We thank God that it is He who causes the growth and we stand on the promise that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ, Phil 1:6. We pray they will be established on the foundation you mentioned, leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on to perfection, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works, of faith toward God, of the teaching of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment, Heb 6:1-2, being born of water and the Spirit and continuing steadfastly in the apostles teaching and fellowship. We pray they will grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that the word of the Lord may spread rapidly and be glorified, 2 Thess 3:1, and be received with joy and bear fruit.
We also lift up your wife before the throne of grace with you. We pray as Scripture exhorts us to make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks for all men, 1 Tim 2:1, knowing this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:3-4. We know the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Peter 3:9. We ask that the Lord would draw her to Himself, open her eyes to the truth that Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and that she would call upon the name of Jesus, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12.
We thank you for praying in Jesus name, for it is only through Him we have access to the Father and it is a joy to agree together according to Matt 18:19-20 and to trust the Shepherd who does not will that one of these little ones should perish, Matt 18:14.
Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You for every new birth into Your family. Keep these new disciples from the evil one, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, fill them with wisdom and revelation, root them and ground them in love, establish them in Your Word, protect them from deception and from those who hold a form of godliness but deny its power, 2 Tim 3:5, and cause them to walk in holiness and obedience as they are taught to observe all that Jesus commanded. Let Your Word run swiftly through them and through us to many more. Save our dear sister, this wife, draw her by Your Spirit, grant her repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, and build this marriage for Your glory. We entrust them all to You who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, Eph 3:20, and we ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.
