We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, grieving the profound loss of innocent lives, especially the unborn, who have been taken through the grave sin of abortion. The pain of abandonment, betrayal, and suffering you describe is real, and we stand with you in mourning the brokenness of this fallen world. Yet we do not mourn without hope, for Scripture assures us that God sees every life, knows every sorrow, and holds the little ones who were never given the chance to draw breath in this world.
The Word of God declares the sanctity of life from the moment of conception. Jeremiah 1:5 tells us, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart." Psalm 139:13-16 reveals, "For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them." Every child, born or unborn, is fearfully and wonderfully made by the Creator, and their lives matter deeply to Him.
We must also confront the truth that abortion is not merely a personal choice, it is the taking of an innocent human life, a violation of God’s commandment: "You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13). The blood of these children cries out to the Lord, and we cannot remain silent in the face of such injustice. Yet even in this darkness, we cling to the mercy of God, who is able to redeem what has been broken and bring healing to those who have been wounded by this sin, whether through participation, coercion, or loss.
To those who have experienced the pain of miscarriage, stillbirth, or abortion, we say this: God’s grace is greater than our sin. 1 John 1:9 promises, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), and His love extends even to the deepest places of grief and shame. If you have been involved in abortion, whether as a mother, father, family member, or medical professional, we urge you to turn to Jesus in repentance and find forgiveness and restoration in Him.
For those who feel abandoned, whether by a spouse, parent, child, or friend, we echo the words of Psalm 27:10, which you quoted: "Though my father and my mother have forsaken me, Yahweh will take me up." God is the perfect Father who will never leave nor forsake His children (Hebrews 13:5). He is a refuge for the brokenhearted and a shelter for the weary. If you are without a home, family, or support, we pray that the Lord would provide for your needs and surround you with His people. The body of Christ is called to be His hands and feet, and we must step up to care for the orphan, the widow, and the lonely (James 1:27).
To those who have lost children, whether through abortion, miscarriage, or tragedy, we grieve with you. The pain of such loss is immeasurable, but we take comfort in knowing that the Lord collects every tear in His bottle (Psalm 56:8) and that one day, in His presence, there will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain (Revelation 21:4). The little ones who were taken too soon are safe in the arms of Jesus, and we trust that He will wipe away every tear from their eyes as well.
We also lift up those who feel they have no place to turn, those who are homeless, desperate, or on the brink of despair. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He is the God who provides, who sees your need, and who invites you to cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). If you are struggling with thoughts of self-harm or suicide, we beg you to reach out to someone, a pastor, a counselor, a trusted friend, and allow them to walk with you through this darkness. You are not alone, and your life has value in the eyes of God.
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken by the loss of life, the pain of abandonment, and the weight of sin in this world. We mourn the unborn children who have been taken through abortion, and we ask for Your mercy upon those who have been involved in this tragedy. Lord, forgive us as a nation and as individuals for turning away from Your truth and Your commandments. Heal the hearts of those who grieve the loss of children, whether through abortion, miscarriage, or other tragedies. Comfort those who feel abandoned, alone, or without hope. Provide shelter, family, and support for those in need, and let Your church rise up to be a refuge for the hurting.
We entrust the little ones who have gone before us into Your loving care, knowing that You are a just and merciful God. We pray for an end to the culture of death and for a revival of Your truth in our land. May Your people stand boldly for life, for marriage, for family, and for the sanctity of every human being, from conception to natural death. Give us compassion for those who are suffering, and grant us the courage to speak Your truth in love.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Author of Life, who conquered sin and death so that we might have eternal life. It is only through Him that we have access to You, Father, and it is only by His blood that we are forgiven and made new. We pray that all who are lost would come to know Him as Lord and Savior, finding hope, healing, and redemption in His name.
Amen.
