“And Elisha went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little boys out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two boys of them.”

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, grieving with those who grieve over the loss of unborn lives and the spiritual darkness that seems to be spreading like a contagion in your neighborhood. The pain of losing little ones before they even had a chance to draw breath is a sorrow that only God can fully comfort. We stand with you in this battle, for we know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12).

First, we must address the seriousness of what is happening. The Bible makes it clear that children are a heritage from the Lord, a reward from Him (Psalm 127:3). The loss of these precious lives is not something to be taken lightly, and the mockery, disrespect, and demonic influence you describe are abominations before God. The passage you referenced from 2 Kings 2:23-24 shows us that God does not take kindly to mockery and disrespect, especially when it is directed toward His servants and His ways. The boys who mocked Elisha were not merely being rude, they were rejecting God’s prophet and, by extension, God Himself. The consequences were severe, and this serves as a warning to us today. God is holy, and He will not be mocked (Galatians 6:7).

We rebuke in the mighty name of Jesus Christ every spirit of mockery, disrespect, discord, and bullying that is operating in your neighborhood. We command every demonic influence to cease and desist, for Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19). We declare that no weapon formed against you or your community shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we break every chain of spiritual oppression in the name of Jesus. The laughter of the wicked is short-lived, for the joy of the Lord is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10), and His justice will prevail.

We must also address the spreading of inappropriate images and the malicious "giving of pity" that you described. This is not godly compassion, it is a perversion of true love. The Bible tells us that love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth (1 Corinthians 13:6). When people take pleasure in the suffering or humiliation of others, it is a sign of a heart that is far from God. We rebuke this spirit of cruelty and ask the Lord to soften the hearts of those who are participating in or enabling such behavior. Let them see the error of their ways and turn from their wickedness, for God desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).

The grief you feel is real, and it is right to mourn. Even in laughter, the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief (Proverbs 14:13). But we do not grieve as those who have no hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13). We serve a God who collects our tears in a bottle and records them in His book (Psalm 56:8). He sees your pain, and He will not leave you comfortless. We pray that He would surround you and your neighbors with His peace, which surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and that He would bind up the brokenhearted and proclaim freedom for the captives (Isaiah 61:1).

We must also lift up the families who have lost their unborn children. The loss of a child, even one not yet born, is a deep and profound sorrow. We pray that God would comfort them with His love, that He would heal their hearts, and that He would give them the strength to trust Him even in this valley of shadows. May they find solace in knowing that their little ones are safe in the arms of Jesus, for of such is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 19:14).

For the neighborhood, we pray for a spiritual awakening. We ask the Lord to raise up godly men and women who will stand in the gap and intercede for their community. We pray that the eyes of the blind would be opened to see the spiritual battle raging around them and that they would turn to Jesus, the only one who can save them. We declare that the light of Christ will shine in the darkness, and the darkness will not overcome it (John 1:5). May the love of Christ compel those who are lost to seek Him, and may they find in Him the peace and joy that the world cannot give.

We also encourage you to take practical steps to combat this spiritual darkness. Gather with other believers to pray and intercede for your neighborhood. Speak life and truth into the lives of those around you, and do not be afraid to confront evil with the authority you have in Christ. The Bible tells us to resist the devil, and he will flee from us (James 4:7). Stand firm in your faith, and do not be shaken by the schemes of the enemy.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts burdened by the loss of life and the spiritual darkness that seeks to overtake our communities. We thank You that You are a God who sees, who hears, and who acts on behalf of Your children. We rebuke in the name of Jesus every spirit of mockery, disrespect, discord, and cruelty that is operating in this neighborhood. We command every demonic influence to flee, for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Lord, we ask You to comfort the families who have lost their unborn children. Wrap Your arms around them and heal their broken hearts. Give them the strength to trust in You, even when they do not understand Your ways. Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way, and remind them that their little ones are with You, safe and loved.

Father, we pray for a spiritual awakening in this neighborhood. Open the eyes of those who are blind to the truth, and soften the hearts of those who are hardened by sin. Raise up godly men and women who will stand in the gap and intercede for their community. Let the light of Christ shine brightly, and may the darkness be pushed back. We declare that no weapon formed against this place shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against it in judgment will be condemned (Isaiah 54:17).

Lord, we ask You to expose the works of darkness and bring them to light. Let those who are participating in or enabling cruelty and wickedness see the error of their ways and turn from their sin. Give them a hunger and thirst for righteousness, and lead them to repentance. May they find forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ.

We thank You, Father, that You are a God of justice and mercy. We trust in Your goodness and Your sovereignty, even when we do not understand Your ways. Strengthen us to stand firm in our faith, and equip us to be Your hands and feet in this broken world. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in this neighborhood, as it is in heaven.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We grieve with you over the loss of your neighbor’s unborn child. That kind of sorrow sits heavy in a neighborhood, and we are aching with them and with you.

When grief is met with cruelty, mocking laughter and public bullying through shared photos, the wound cuts deeper. We see your anguish over it, and we understand why your heart is crying out for this evil to be rebuked. You are right to name it as darkness.

Here is what we want to gently offer you in the middle of the storm: while we agree that spiritual forces of malice are real, we also know that our safety is not in trying to track or rebuke every manifestation around us, but in resting inside the strong name of Jesus ourselves. Right now, you sound exhausted and surrounded. What if the next right step is simply to withdraw into that safe place with Him, and let His peace quiet your own heart first? One small, concrete act might help, tonight, light a candle in your home and quietly say, “Jesus, this light is for that baby’s life, however brief, and I trust You to deal with the darkness outside.” It is not a ritual, just a moment to plant your feet on solid ground again.

We are praying that the God of all comfort draws near to your grieving neighbor in real tenderness. We pray He shields you and others from the poison of mockery that is spreading. And above all, we pray that His steady peace settles so deeply into your own spirit that the cruelty around you loses its power to unsettle you. Quiet his heart, Lord, and let him hide in You. In Jesus’ name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The darkness that seems to prevail in your neighborhood, the mocking laughter and the cruel delight in another’s sorrow, is of the very essence of that power from which Christ has delivered His own. When you see a neighbor’s unborn child taken, and hear the demonic glee of those who use images to wound and bully, you are witnessing the works of the pit. But the name of Jesus Christ is a mighty power; it made devils tremble when He walked the earth, and it still shatters every chain of darkness. That same name, lifted in faith, brings all the authority of Heaven against the scoffers who sit in the seat of the scornful. You need not imitate the curse of Elisha, for vengeance belongs to the Lord; but you may, and must, rebuke the spirit of mockery in the all-conquering name of Jesus.

Grief itself is not sinful; even laughter may cover an aching heart, and rejoicing may end in bitterness. But you are not left to fight the shadows alone. The Lord has given commandment to deliver you, and He is able to save to the uttermost. The wicked may shoot out arrows, even bitter words and actions, as they did against David, yet he could say, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” When you feel the sting of their malice, remember that the Lord has not erased your name from His heart; His chastening hand may be upon the neighborhood, yet He preserves His own from the destroyer.

This present trial, with all its disorder and disrespect, is a platform for the display of Divine grace. The enemy would use it to drive you to despair or to vengeful anger, but God means it to teach you dependence upon His Son. That unborn babe, now in the presence of Jesus, is beyond the reach of every foe; and the Lord’s deliverance is often most near when the night is darkest. Bring your burden to the cross, where the Prince of life tasted death for every one of His little ones. Only the blood of Christ can cleanse the guilt, and only His resurrection can break the power of these demonic forces. Cry to Him, and He will stretch forth His hand and deliver your soul from going down into the pit of bitterness and fear.

Do not fix your eyes upon the mockers, lest their image burn into your spirit. Look rather to the risen Lord, who stands at the right hand of God to make intercession for you. The Holy Spirit is the all-sufficient Helper, and He will lift you above the fray. Declare His works aloud; let the neighborhood hear the praises of Him who has delivered you from the power of darkness. As you speak well of His name, the devil’s laughter will be silenced, for he cannot endure the music of a grateful heart. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has prevailed, and not one of His sheep shall be torn from His hand. Go now in that confidence, and fear not the terror by night nor the arrow that flieth by day.

The grief that has visited your neighbor is a wound not to her alone but to the whole body of Christ, for we are members one of another. Do not imagine that the malice which now breaks out around you comes merely from flesh and blood. The enemy of our souls stirs up cruel laughter and contagious mockery precisely at the hour of another's sorrow, seeking to double his prey: he devours the afflicted through despair and the mockers through their pitiless joy. You have seen it rightly, such demonic smiles, such spreading of shameful images and words, are the works of hell’s own workshop. But take care, lest in your zeal to rebuke you fall into a worse snare.

You bring to mind the bears that tore those mocking youths in the days of Elisha. Yet consider: that was a singular judgment belonging to the prophet, who acted not from private anger but by divine revelation for the vindication of God’s covenant at a critical hour. To you has been given no such command. The Lord Jesus, when reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He threatened not, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously. If you would truly rebuke these demons, drive out their darkness with the light of mercy. A mouth that curses cannot bless; a heart that calls down destruction cannot at the same time build up. Your neighbor’s home is in sorrow, and your first labor is to weep with those who weep, to speak words that edify, to become a shelter, not a storm.

As for the mockers, their laughter is the mask of a sick soul. Do you not see that they have made themselves sewers, pouring out from their mouths and from their devices a filth that defiles both them and all who behold? They bite and devour one another, busy with the ruin of reputations. Yet what do they gain? Even in laughter the heart may ache, says the Proverb, and mirth ends in heaviness. Their own sin will hunt them down more surely than any she-bear, for the Lord is the avenger of the innocent. Your part is not to seize the sword of judgment but to show the mercy that you yourself will need at the last day. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy; but to the unmerciful, judgment will be without mercy. Therefore, pray for them fervently, not with a prayer of impatience, but with a prayer that God would grant them repentance and open their eyes. Grieve for their madness as for a brother seized with demons, for indeed they have chosen a self-inflicted frenzy.

Go then, and do battle aright. Rebuke the power of the evil one by fasting and almsgiving in secret. Let your tongue become an instrument of thanksgiving, building up all who hear, and resolutely refuse to pass on any tale of their cruelty except to God alone. Silence can be a holy rebuke. Cover your neighbor’s sorrow with the comfort of Christ, and the dark joy of the enemy will find no foothold in your own heart. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

The death of an unborn child is a deep and bitter sorrow, and it is right to bring that grief before the Lord. The mockery and cruelty you describe in your neighborhood, the smiling, the laughter at another’s pain, is a dark fruit of the same broken world that groans under the weight of sin. Proverbs 14:13 reminds us that even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy can end in grief. This is not a time for gloating, but for weeping with those who weep.

When faced with scorning and attack, the instinct to pray is exactly right. Nehemiah met the mockery of his enemies not with schemes of retaliation, but by lifting his heart to God: “Hear, O our God, for we are despised.” He asked the Lord to handle the reproach, and then he and the people set a watch and continued building. Prayer and prudence always go together. Prayer is never an excuse to do nothing, nor is action a replacement for prayer; we pray, and then we act responsibly in the strength God supplies.

The battle you sense in the spiritual realm is real, and the name of Jesus Christ holds all authority. Yet note that David, when persecuted, did not merely rebuke; he cried out, “Attend unto my cry, for I am brought very low.” Prayer begins with relationship. If you can say “Father,” then you have access to His ear. And if there is any need for your own heart to be set right, the prayer that pleases God most from a sinner is “God, be merciful to me, a sinner.” That humility opens the door for Him to do what He desires in and through you.

For your neighbor, the mother who has lost her baby, intercession is a gift. Pray that the God of all comfort would draw near to her. The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous person accomplishes much. You don’t need to figure out the mystery of why this happened; you need to hold that family before the throne of mercy. Ask that the Lord turn what was meant for evil into an opportunity for His healing and grace.

Then, having prayed, look for practical ways to guard against the cruelty you see. Stand against the taking and spreading of mocking photos, not with bitterness, but with the quiet courage of those who know the Lord is with them. Fight for your neighbors as for your own household, knowing the battle belongs to the Lord. He is able to bring shame upon those who seek your hurt, and He often does so in His own time and way. End your prayer with praise, confident that He has heard, and then go be the watchman on the wall.
