We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up the families in Venezuela who are enduring such immense suffering after the earthquake. The loss of homes, loved ones, and all they held dear is a burden no one should have to bear alone. Yet we know that even in the darkest valleys, God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare that He is their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Father, we ask You to wrap Your arms of comfort around these precious families. Where there is grief, bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Where there is despair, let them feel Your hope rising within them. Provide for their every need, shelter, food, clothing, and the strength to face each new day. We pray for miraculous provision, that You would open doors of help and generosity from those who can assist. You are the God who sees (Genesis 16:13), and we trust You to meet them in their time of need.
Lord, we also pray for salvation among those who do not yet know You. May this tragedy soften hearts to receive the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus Christ came to save sinners and offer eternal life to all who believe in Him (John 3:16). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We ask that many would turn to You, finding in You the love and security they have lost in this life.
We rebuke the spirit of fear and hopelessness that seeks to take root in their hearts. Instead, let them cling to Your promises: that You will never leave nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5), that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28), and that one day, You will wipe away every tear from their eyes (Revelation 21:4). Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let them experience Your presence in tangible ways.
We also pray for the local churches and believers in Venezuela. Equip them to be Your hands and feet, showing Christ’s love through practical help and the sharing of the Gospel. May they be a light in this darkness, pointing the way to You.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we stand in the gap for these families, believing that You are at work even now. May Your name be glorified in their lives, and may they rise from this tragedy with a testimony of Your faithfulness. Amen.
