Scripture warns that the tongue, though small, can be a world of iniquity, a fire kindled by hell itself. The damage it leaves behind, betrayal, chaos, discord, is not something God takes lightly. He hates the sowing of strife among brothers, and Proverbs is clear that guarding your mouth is a direct path away from calamity.

When you describe confusion in communication and the spreading of error, it reflects exactly what the Bible pictures in Babylon. There, pride and rebellion led God to confuse human language, and that confused state became a permanent symbol of man trying to build his own kingdom apart from God. The same spirit is at work wherever there is envying and strife: confusion and every evil work follow. The toxicity you are facing, the rumors and fake prophecies whispered through texts and media, is the fruit of worldly wisdom. It is people doing what is right in their own eyes, with no king to rule their speech.

God is not the author of that confusion. He is the God of peace and order. When a situation descends into a madhouse of manipulation and disorder, you can be certain the source is not from above. The wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated. What you are describing is the opposite; it is a slanderous, hateful spirit seeking to disqualify and destroy. The person who hides hatred with lying lips and utters slander is called a fool, for their own calamity will come suddenly.

Do not let your heart be consumed with defending your reputation yourself. A good reputation matters; Scripture shows the early church choosing men of honest report to serve. Yet a reputation built on integrity is in God's hands. The safest place is to walk honestly before Him and commit your cause to Him. He sees the lies, the deceitful hypocracy, and the whispered motives. He will not be mocked. Pray for your friends and family who are suffering torment, that God would shield their hearts from bitterness. Pray that the truth would arise and that the damage would be stopped. But also pray that you do not get drawn into the confusion or repay in kind. The command is to mark those who cause division and avoid their pattern, not to fight fire with fire.

Healing from the resentment behind this behavior is something only Jesus can bring into their lives, but that is His work, not yours to force. For your own soul, retreat into the peace that God authors. Bring order where you can by refusing to participate in the babbling chaos. Let your own speech be guarded, and trust that the Lord will be your defender. May He rebuke this wrong spirit and bring a calm that surpasses understanding, even while the storm rages, until the truth sets you firmly on solid ground.
