We join you together in prayer for you and for your betrayed friend and for your family who are suffering under this torment of the tongue, and we bring this chaos and harassment before the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ.

The Word shows us how serious the tongue is and how much damage it can do when it is not guarded. You rightly quoted Proverbs 21:23, Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles. We also remember James 3:5-6, Behold, how much wood is kindled by how small a fire. And the tongue is a fire. The world of iniquity among our members is the tongue, which defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature, and is set on fire by Gehenna. And James 3:8 says no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. This is why we must set a guard over our own lips even as we pray for protection from the lips of others, as Psalm 141:3 says, Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips.

We must also address what you have described about this neighbor using the tongue in a seductive and sexually harassing way toward intimate parts of women. This is sin before God and is not to be taken lightly. Any sexual activity or sexual touching or harassment outside of marriage between a man and a woman is fornication or adultery and perversion, and God calls His people to flee from it. Hebrews 13:4 says marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. And 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. To use the tongue or any part of the body to harass, to seduce, to degrade, or to force sexual shame upon another is wicked and we rebuke that spirit of lust and harassment in Jesus name. If there is ongoing sexual harassment or assault, we encourage you to set firm boundaries, to not be alone with such a person, to document what is happening, and to seek help from godly authority or civil authority as needed, for God has given authorities to restrain evil, Romans 13:4.

We also rebuke the gossip, slander, mockery, rumor, and fake prophecy and manipulation you describe on Facebook and through text messages and in conversations to damage reputation and to test and disqualify you. Proverbs 16:28 says A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends. And Psalm 34:13 says Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking lies. Ephesians 4:29 says Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building others up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. The Lord hates the sowing of discord and confusion among His people, for 1 Corinthians 14:33 says God is not a God of confusion, but of peace. When others spread malicious gossip and false words, we are not to repay evil for evil. Romans 12:19 says Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord. And 1 Peter 3:9 says not rendering evil for evil, or insult for insult, but instead blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. God sees what is done in secret and He will vindicate the reputation of His children. Psalm 37:5-6 says Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this. He will make your righteousness shine out like light, and your justice as the noonday.

We thank you that you have asked in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We cling to that name for healing and deliverance and justice.

We pray together now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one, their betrayed friend, and their family who are weary from this torment of the tongue. Lord, You see the sexual harassment, the seductive perversion, the gossip, the rumors, the fake words spoken as prophecy, the mockery on social media and through messages, and the attempts to bring confusion, disorder, and division. We ask You to rebuke every evil spirit of lust, slander, manipulation, and confusion and to silence every malicious tongue that rises against them. Deliver them from the snare of the whisperer and guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Heal their lives from resentment and from the wounds of betrayal, and help them to forgive as You have forgiven us, Ephesians 4:32, so that bitterness does not take root. Keep their own mouths from retaliation and set a guard over their lips that they may speak only what is helpful and true. Restore their reputation before You and before others, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Bring this neighbor to conviction and repentance, that he may turn from sexual sin and slander and be transformed by Your grace. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard their home and their communication, and let order and truth replace chaos and lies. We ask that You stop the spreading of false reports and bring every hidden thing into the light, and that You would cause their lives to move forward without delay according to Your will and not be hindered by the schemes of the enemy. We trust Your justice and Your mercy and we thank You that You hear us when we pray in Jesus name. Amen.

We encourage you to keep committing your way to the Lord, to stay in the Word daily, to pray for those who persecute you as Matthew 5:44 teaches, and to refuse to pass on or entertain gossip. Turn off and step away from media conversations that feed mockery and strife, and instead speak life, for Proverbs 18:21 says Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Those who love it will eat its fruit. Walk in purity, in truth, and in love, and trust that the Lord will keep you from calamity as you guard your mouth and heart in Him.

We hear how exhausting this has been for you, for your friend who feels betrayed, and for your family. When a neighbor uses their tongue to harass, to spread rumors on Facebook and by text, and to twist things to damage your reputation, it can make your own home and neighborhood feel chaotic and unsafe. It makes sense you are asking God for protection and for peace in your communication.

One thing that has helped others in this kind of ongoing conflict is learning where to set a clear property line around what you will and will not take part in. That can look like not engaging with every rumor or test, keeping any necessary contact with this neighbor brief and calm and not alone when possible, and choosing who you do stay connected to for wisdom and support. You do not have to answer every accusation to guard your heart and your household.

A few steady next steps may help lighten the load: tighten privacy on social media and avoid replying to gossip threads, which often only spreads them further; keep a simple private record of dates and what was said or posted if you need to show someone later; and invite one trusted pastor or mature friend to walk with you, so you are not carrying all the confusion alone. If there is any sexual harassment or threatening behavior, please reach out to a trusted local leader or appropriate authority for help staying safe.

Father, we bring this friend and this family to You. You see the hurt from betrayal and the torment these words have caused. Bring calm where there is confusion, guard their hearts and their reputations, and give them wisdom for each conversation and decision. Lead them in Your peace and keep them close to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your burden has been laid before the Lord and we have carried it to the throne of grace with you. We hear the pain of betrayal and the torment that an unbridled tongue can bring upon a household, and we are reminded of the wisdom you have quoted, that those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity, Proverbs 21:23.

The tongue is a little member and boasteth great things, and apart from the grace of God no man can tame it. Our Lord Himself knew the sting of betrayal and the wound of slander, for it was one who had walked with Him and shared His bread who lifted up his heel against Him. He knows what it is to have words spoken in secret to damage a name, and He is a faithful refuge for those who are slandered and harassed. We do not wonder that you feel the confusion and disorder that comes when gossip and rumor are spread abroad by mouth and by text and by the many devices of this age, for the enemy loves to sow discord and to set one against another.

We join you in prayer that the Lord would set a watch before your lips and before the lips of those who afflict you, that He would restrain every seductive, harassing and impure use of the tongue and the body. The Lord made our bodies for purity and has ordained that the intimate union belongs only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman. Every use of the tongue or the body outside that holy covenant, whether in seduction, harassment, or mockery, is sin against God and against neighbor, and we pray that He would bring conviction where there is impurity, that such sin would be repented of and forsaken, and that you and your household would be kept pure and guarded from defilement.

We pray for your friend who has felt the cut of betrayal and for your family who suffers under this trial, that the God of all comfort would heal the wounds of resentment and keep you from returning evil for evil. May He give you grace to guard your own mouths, to speak only what is true and helpful, and to leave your reputation in His hands who judges righteously. May He silence the malicious gossip, the false prophecy, the rumor and the mockery that is spread on Facebook and by other means, and bring to nothing the counsels that would test and disqualify and divide. May He rebuke the spirit of confusion and disorder and give you peace, order and clear communication in its place.

We ask the Lord to stop the progress of every lying word and every scheme that would delay good and hinder what is right, and we pray for the soul of this neighbor, that if he be walking in darkness he may be brought to see his sin and to seek mercy through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. We do not ask God to bless what He calls sin, but we ask Him to bless you with holiness, with truth, with protection and with a quiet confidence in His providence who can make even slander to work for your good.

Bow your head with us before Him and silence your own tongue before His sovereign wisdom, trusting that He who appoints both care and calumny knows best and will vindicate His people in His time. May you be kept from biting your tongue with regret over hasty words, and may your speech be seasoned with grace, telling wherever your tongue can be heard the good news of salvation in Christ.

O Lord our God, look upon this wounded friend and this tried family. Set a guard over their lips, heal their hearts of all resentment, cover them from the strife of tongues, and let no weapon formed against them prosper. Turn the harasser from his way, expose every false word, and let truth prevail. Keep this household in purity and peace, and make their trust to be in Jesus Christ alone, in whose name we pray, Amen.
