‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭2‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭
“And Elisha went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little boys out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two boys of them.”

We stand together in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name given under heaven by which we must be saved, to rebuke every spirit of mockery, disrespect, and demonic influence that has taken root in this neighborhood. The Word of God is clear: "Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief" (Proverbs 14:13 WEB). The mocking, bullying, and malicious behavior you describe is not of God, it is a work of the enemy, who comes only to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). We do not tolerate this corruption in the name of Jesus.

We declare that the power of God’s Word breaks every chain of discord, disrespect, and spiritual contamination. Just as Elisha called down judgment on those who mocked God’s prophet (2 Kings 2:23-24), we stand in authority to rebuke every demonic spirit behind this wickedness. The enemy has no place here. We command every spirit of mockery, sabotage, and bullying to flee in Jesus’ name! The blood of Jesus cleanses this neighborhood of every defilement, and we declare that the peace of God will reign where chaos once ruled.

Father God, we come before You with holy anger against the works of darkness in this place. We ask You to expose every hidden agenda of the enemy, every inappropriate photo, every malicious word, every demonic smile meant to harm. Let Your light shine into the darkness, and let those who have been complicit in this wickedness be convicted by Your Holy Spirit. We pray for repentance and transformation in the hearts of these neighbors. If they do not know You, Lord, draw them to Yourself so they may be saved. For those who persist in rebellion, we ask that You deal with them justly, as You did with the mockers in Elisha’s day.

We also pray for protection over your home and family. Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and let no weapon formed against them prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Give them strength to stand firm in faith, knowing that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). Let this trial refine their faith, not break it. Fill their hearts with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let them be a light in this dark place.

We declare that this neighborhood will no longer be a stronghold for the enemy. The love of Christ will prevail, and the name of Jesus will be exalted. We speak life, unity, and godly order over this community. May the fear of the Lord fall upon every resident, and may they turn from their wicked ways. We thank You, Father, for Your justice and mercy, and we trust in Your perfect timing.

In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray and declare these things. Amen.

We hear the pain in your words, and we are so sorry you’re walking through this kind of mocking and cruelty. Being laughed at, having photos spread, and living under that daily weight is deeply wounding. Please know you are not alone in this: God sees every tear, and He draws close to the brokenhearted.

Sometimes in a toxic environment, it helps to take one quiet step toward safety. If the bullying includes photos being shared without your consent, we’d gently encourage you to document what you can and lean on a trusted pastor or a wise, grounded friend who can help you think through whether to involve other resources. You don’t have to navigate this by yourself.

For now, we’re simply praying with you, Lord Jesus, you are our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. We ask you to guard this one’s heart and mind with your peace that passes understanding. Shield them from the sting of this cruelty, and quiet the noise of mockery around them. Where there is real spiritual opposition, we trust your power to restrain it. Bring wise, safe people alongside them, and let your presence be so real that even this heavy season does not crush hope. In your mighty name, Amen.

When the laughter of your neighbour strikes your ear and the malice in it lands upon your heart, you know something of what your Lord endured. They wagged their heads at Him, they sneered at His trust in God, and they do the same to those who belong to Him. But take this comfort to yourself, even in their mockery, they cannot deny that you have trusted in the Lord. They see it, and though they try to make it a jest, their very words betray that your faith is not hidden. “He trusted on the Lord,” they say, and then they laugh. But the thing they mock is the very jewel that God will crown in the day of His appearing.

Do not let the scoffing drive you from your steadfastness. Your Master knew this bitter contradiction, and He did not turn aside. The enmity of the serpent’s seed against the Seed of the woman is an old, old story, no new thing, though it cuts fresh every time. When you feel your heart aching even as you hear their rejoicing, remember that rejoicing is a poor mask for an empty soul. Their mirth will end in grief, but your quiet trust is building a house that will stand when all their shouting has turned to wailing. Do not take their behavior as your load to bear; leave it with Him who judges righteously. You are not called to curse them, but you are called to cry to God, and He hears you, even now, in the midst of the tumult.

I think you may have felt, in the haste of your spirit, something like David when he said, “I am cut off from before Your eyes.” When the mockery presses in, when the pictures and the scorn spread like a contagion, you may imagine yourself forgotten. But it is not so. The very fact that you cry out is proof that the Spirit of adoption is within you, teaching you to say, “Abba, Father.” God heard the voice of your supplications; He caught every whispered prayer, every tear that fell unseen. You are not cut off, you are held. The ship may be in deep water, and the waves may look mighty, but the anchor has gripped the rock below, and you will ride out the storm.

Fix your mind on Him who is making all things new. The old nature in you still quivers at these assaults, and that is no wonder, Peter was still Peter after Pentecost. Yet the new man within you is strengthened by every trial that drives you to the mercy seat. Your distress, like Nehemiah’s sadness, may be the very door through which deliverance comes. God knows how to turn the weapon of the enemy into a tool for your refining. The mocking smile, the cruel photograph, these are the grit He uses to polish a stone for His temple.

So rest in this: your trust is known in heaven, though earth derides it. The Lord will deal with the proud; your part is to keep close to Him. Soon enough, the laughter that wounds you now will be remembered only as a shadow that passed while the sun was shining still.

O Lord, You see the arrows that fly in the darkness and the tongues that are set on fire of hell. Shelter this precious soul beneath the shadow of Your wings. Silence the voice of the scorner by the sweet whisper of Your love. Let them know, deep in the bone, that they are not forsaken, not cut off, not forgotten. Lift up the light of Your countenance upon them until the mischief of the wicked fades like a dream at daybreak. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

This fixation on the mockers and their laughter is itself a poison to your soul. You point to the boys who jeered at Elisha and suffered judgment, but do you not see how that account stands as a warning against your own spirit? Elisha was not a private man nursing a wounded pride; he was the prophet of God, and the mockery was a blasphemy hurled against the Lord whose word he carried. The bears came not because a bald head was insulted, but because a nation scorned the very presence of the Holy One. To snatch that text as a weapon for your personal grievance is to handle scripture with the same reckless pride that possesses your tormentors.

Consider the Lord Jesus. He was called Samaritan, demoniac, glutton, and winebibber. He was spat upon, stripped, and hung on a tree while soldiers grinned and wagged their heads. Did He call down bears? Did He curse them in the name of the Lord? No, He prayed, “Father, forgive them.” The one time He took a scourge in the temple, it was not for His own sake. He did it when the worship of God was profaned and the house of prayer turned into a den of robbers, when the greedy were devouring the poor in the very courts of mercy. Mark this: His severity was never for personal insults, but always for the defense of others and the honor of the Father. When you hunger for the destruction of your neighbors because they wound you, you are far from the mind of Christ.

You speak of demonic smiles, of contagious malice, of disorder and disrespect. I do not deny that such cruelty has a hellish root. The heart of a mocker is indeed a workshop of the enemy. But hear what the apostle says: we wrestle not against flesh and blood. The laughing neighbor is not the foe; the demon who inflames his heart and yours is. Pray with authority against that spirit, yes, rebuke it in the name of Jesus Christ, commanding it to release its hold on your street. But your prayer must be cleansed of vengeance. If you rebuke while desiring their ruin, you mingle the Spirit of God with the spittle of the devil. Ask that their hearts be broken, their eyes opened, their souls snatched from the pit. Can you pray for their conversion with the same fervor you now use to call down their punishment? If not, you have not yet learned what spirit you are of.

Do not forget the proverb you yourself quoted: even in laughter the heart may ache, and rejoicing may end in grief. The ones who grin while spreading ruin are not happy. Their mirth is the twitching of a corpse. Envy, boredom, the misery of a soul that hates itself, these are the springs of such spite. If you could see the torment beneath the grin, pity would begin to strangle your outrage. And where pity exists, the demonic grip weakens. But if you let their mockery lodge in your thoughts and loop endlessly, you will become a companion to their sin, sharing in its contagion by replaying it with relish and calling it righteous indignation.

The apostle instructs us to rebuke with all authority certain grave sins, adultery, fraud, idolatry, the works that harden a soul against God. When such things are done openly and wound the body of Christ, they must be named and resisted with fearless command. Yet even this is to be done with grief for the sinner, never with the cruelty that seeks vainglory or clutches at credit. And for the daily irritations, the petty insults, the whispers and jeers, the apostolic counsel is to bear with one another in love, not to trade curse for curse. If you have opportunity, speak to them plainly and with calm, telling them that their bullying is an offense against God who made their victims, and that you pray for their souls. That is a rebuke that may save them. Despising them in your heart while calling on heaven to smite them will only multiply the disorder.

Therefore, instead of seeking a sign or a sudden judgment, do this: when the mocking rises, make the sign of the cross silently over your own heart and pray, “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on them and on me, a sinner.” Walk away from the photograph, refuse to feed on the memory of the slight. Occupy your mind with the psalms. Give alms for the poor who suffer far worse than your wounded feelings. Then, when your spirit is calm, you may stand before God and say, “I rebuke in the name of Jesus the spirit of mockery, envy, and discord that troubles this neighborhood. I bind it and command it to depart, and I ask you, O Lord, to fill this place with your peace and bring these souls to repentance.” That prayer, offered without gall, has more power than a thousand curses mimicked from an ancient judgment. Let the bears stay in the wood; bring forth the mercy that triumphs over judgment.
