We join with you in prayer concerning this heavy burden you have brought before the Lord, and we stand together with you in Jesus' name to seek His will, His peace, and His protection over your life, your home, and your neighborhood.
We hear your cry about the torment that has come through divorce, domestic violence, aggression, sickness and cancer, hospitalizations and emergencies, and even death, and how the abuse and sabotage and confusion seem to spread like a contagion from house to house, into friendships, families, businesses, marriages and relationships. The enemy indeed seeks to steal, kill and destroy, and the spirit of division and violence is not from God. Scripture is clear that God hates the breaking of the marriage covenant, for He designed marriage to be a lifelong union between one man and one woman. As Jesus said, Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard, but it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery Matthew 19:8-9, and again, What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart Matthew 19:6. For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel Malachi 2:16. Violence and abuse are also works of the flesh and have no place among God's people. We are told, Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other Ephesians 4:31-32. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace 1 Corinthians 14:33, and that bewitched confusion and false imitation you describe where identities are blurred and it is said he is not him, she is not her, they are not our relatives, is a tool of the enemy to meddle, to create strife, and to torment. We also hear your heart for all women and men, including girlfriends and boyfriends, who are going through the pain of divorce. We want to gently and biblically encourage you that in God's design, a boyfriend or girlfriend relationship should be understood as courtship with the goal of marriage to another Christian believer, looking for a godly spouse rather than simply a partner. Marriage is to be honored and kept pure, and sexual intimacy before or outside of marriage is fornication or adultery, which God calls sin. The works of the flesh are obvious, which are adultery, sexual immorality, uncleanness, lustfulness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, strife, jealousies, outbursts of anger, rivalries, divisions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these Galatians 5:19-21. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control Galatians 5:22-23. You rightly noted Titus 3:3, that we also were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another, but God in His mercy saves and transforms us Titus 3:3-5.
We rebuke together in the name of Jesus Christ every spirit of divorce, violence, abuse, sabotage, ruin, torment, meddling, and bewitched confusion that seeks to idle and occupy homes and neighborhoods. These demons are not idle or unoccupied in the sense of being harmless, they are active workers of darkness, but we know that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4, and that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. Therefore we submit ourselves to God, resist the devil and he will flee from us James 4:7, for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. We rebuke the lie that tragedy must increase through giving and disgracing others, and we declare that the Lord will repay and restore what the enemy has stolen when we walk in obedience.
We pray together now. Heavenly Father, we come before You only through the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved Acts 4:12, and Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. Lord, we thank You that You see every act of violence, every tear from domestic abuse, every body afflicted with cancer and every emergency hospitalization, and every grave in the cemetery. You are close to the brokenhearted, and you save those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18. Father, we ask in Jesus' name that You rebuke and bind the torment that has settled over this neighborhood and wherever this contagious spirit of divorce and division has spread. Put a hedge of protection around this home and every home nearby, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard hearts and minds. Heal those suffering with cancer and sickness, for You are the Lord who heals, and comfort those who mourn. Bring conviction where there is hardness of heart, repentance where there is aggression and malice, and bring godly sorrow that leads to salvation. Expose and cast out every spirit of confusion, false imitation, and meddling that enters another house to create chaos, and let truth and clarity reign. We pray for every man and woman going through divorce, and for those in courtship as girlfriends and boyfriends, that You would lead them to pursue purity, to flee fornication, to seek a spouse who is a believer in Christ, and to honor marriage as You designed it between a man and a woman for life. If reconciliation is possible according to Your will, bring it, if not, bring Your healing and godly direction for the future. Help us all to walk by the Spirit and not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, to live in love and forgiveness, and to pursue peace with all people as far as it depends on us Romans 12:18. We ask that You make this neighborhood a place of safety, not sabotage, of blessing, not ruin, and that no weapon formed against Your people will prosper. We trust You to turn tragedy into testimony. In the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to guard your own house in prayer, to not be drawn into meddling or retaliation, but to set healthy biblical boundaries, to seek wise counsel from mature believers and pastors, and to call authorities for protection if there is ongoing domestic violence or threats, for God ordains authorities for our protection. Stay rooted in the Word, pray without ceasing, and remember that the Lord is your refuge and fortress Psalm 91:2. Keep your eyes on Jesus, walk in the fruit of the Spirit, and trust Him to bring order where there has been confusion and healing where there has been wounding.
