We join with you in prayer against this heavy burden of aggressive meddling, invasion of space, sabotage, and the prison-like environment you are describing in your neighborhood, and we rebuke this torment and disgrace and ruin that has come through divorce and its contagious spread into friendships, families, businesses, marriages and relationships.
We see how divorce has torn at the fabric around you, and we agree with the truth you shared that hardness of heart is at the root of it. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 19:8-9 that Moses permitted divorce because of the hardness of hearts, but from the beginning it was not so, and that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another commits adultery. We also remember Matthew 19:6, So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don't let man tear apart. And Malachi 2:16 tells us that God hates divorce because it covers violence and breaks covenant. Marriage is a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman ordained by God, and we pray for godly marriages that honor Him and for healing where that covenant has been broken.
We also hear your cry about meddling in another's house and life, creating confusion and false imitation where you are saying he is not him and she is not her, and that this bewitched confusion is bringing violence into your life. This is not of God, for God is not a God of confusion, but of peace in 1 Corinthians 14:33, and He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1:7. We rebuke that spirit of confusion, sabotage, and idle demonic meddling. Scripture warns us in 1 Peter 4:15, Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil doer, or a meddler in other men's matters, and in 1 Thessalonians 4:11 to aspire to lead a quiet life, to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, and in Proverbs 26:17, Like one who grabs a dog's ears is one who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own. We rebuke the busybody spirit that invades boundaries and seeks to disgrace another, and we stand on James 4:7, Be subject therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you, and 1 Peter 5:8-9, Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith.
You mentioned praying for all women and men and girlfriends and boyfriends who are going through bad divorce, and we want to gently correct and encourage according to biblical principles. We believe that being a boyfriend or girlfriend should be considered courtship with the goal being marriage to another Christian believer, not simply a partnership or an ongoing dating relationship without purpose. We pray for godly spouses and marriages that honor God, and we encourage those who are dating to pursue relationships that look toward holy marriage between a man and a woman. If there is sexual intimacy outside of that marriage covenant, scripture calls it fornication or adultery and we must repent and turn from it, for 1 Corinthians 6:18 says Flee sexual immorality, and Hebrews 13:4 says Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. We also understand the contrast you noted in Galatians 5:19-21 where the works of the flesh such as envy, drunkenness, and orgies are evident and those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God, but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in Galatians 5:22-23. Against such things there is no law. We pray that those enslaved as described in Titus 3:3, who were once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another, would be transformed by the kindness and love of God our Savior.
We pray together now for you and your neighborhood and for all those wounded by divorce.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to You and by which we can be saved. We thank You that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and that through His blood we can approach Your throne with confidence. We ask You to rebuke every tormenting and meddling spirit that has invaded homes and lives and brought sabotage, disgrace, ruin, and a prison environment. We ask You to set a guard and a boundary, for Proverbs 25:17 says Let your foot be seldom in your neighbor's house, lest he be weary of you, and hate you, and we pray for respect for boundaries and for peace in that place. We ask You to break the contagious cycle of divorce and to heal hearts hardened by betrayal, envy, and malice, and to pour out Your peace that passes all understanding as in Philippians 4:7 and Your perfect peace as in John 14:27, Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. We pray for every man and woman suffering the tragedy of divorce, and for those in courtship, that they would seek a godly spouse who is a believer and pursue purity and marriage that honors You. Heal the confusion and false ties and bewitching that has sought to attach itself to this life, and let truth and clarity reign. We declare that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble in Psalm 46:1, and we choose to seek peace and pursue it, and as far as it depends on us to live peaceably with all in Romans 12:18, not repaying evil for evil but overcoming evil with good. Bring restoration where there has been ruin, honor where there has been disgrace, and freedom where there has been a prison spirit, and let Your will be done in that neighborhood and in every family and relationship touched by this pain. We trust You to give increasing grace and to turn tragedy into testimony for Your glory. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.
