Neighbor party gathering sabotage week weekend day night ruin miserable war gossip disturbs other house hospitalizations grief loss cemetery all dies

Your burden over what is happening around your home has been heard, and it is understandable that the repeated gatherings, noise, loss of privacy and loss of sleep would leave you feeling worn down, fearful and grieved. You asked for God to rebuke what is evil and tormenting and to bring His control and peace, and that is a right prayer.

Scripture teaches that God is your keeper and protector. One picture the Bible gives is of a shepherd who would lie down in the opening of a sheepfold made of thorn branches. The sheep could not get out and no predator could get in without going over the shepherd. In the same way Jesus said He is the door for His sheep. When you belong to Him you are under His watch. He also is the one who never slumbers nor sleeps. While you need rest and can grow weary, He remains awake and attentive, and He is able to give His beloved sleep even when the surroundings are unsettled.

The peace you are longing for in your house and on your street is something God wants for you. The Bible speaks of two kinds of peace. First there is peace with God, which comes only through the blood of Jesus who reconciled us when we were at war with God. When you have trusted Christ, you are no longer fighting against God or running from Him. Then there is the peace of God, the steady quiet in the heart that guards you in the midst of turmoil. That peace is promised to those whose minds are stayed on Him because they trust Him. Jesus told His disciples, my peace I give to you, my peace I leave with you. It is a peace the world cannot understand, and it can keep your heart and mind even while chaos continues outside. Keeping your thoughts turned toward the Lord, remembering His power and His care, is the path to that perfect peace.

You quoted Psalm 140 verse 2, asking the Lord to rescue you from evil people and to protect you from the violent who plot evil in their hearts. That is a good and biblical prayer for deliverance. God hears that cry. He has also taught us to love our neighbor as ourselves, and that love fulfills the law because love does no harm to a neighbor. That does not mean you ignore wrongdoing or invite further harm. It means you do not repay evil for evil, you do not give way to anger or gossip or plotting in return, and you ask God to restrain what is evil while you walk in a way that is upright before Him. The law also provided that disputes between neighbors be brought before judges who would decide the matter justly. If there are ongoing disturbances that break rightful boundaries or laws, it is appropriate to seek lawful and peaceful help while you continue to pray.

You mentioned spiritual fighting, fear, and a sense of an evil environment pressing in, including sexual impurity and disorder. The Bible is clear that there are spiritual realities behind disorder and impurity, but it is also clear that God is greater. He has promised to make a covenant of peace and to cause evil to cease, so that His people may dwell safely and sleep in peace. He will in His time bring true judgment on what is wrong and ordain peace for those who trust Him.

It is also wise to guard your own heart from weariness and from being drawn into idle speculation or constant focus on the lists and schemes of others. Scripture warns against laziness and against the perverse mouth that stirs up strife. Instead we are called to be sober, to watch, to put on faith and love as a breastplate and the hope of salvation as a helmet, keeping our spirit and soul and body set apart for God, who is the God of peace.

May the Lord ordain peace for you and keep you in perfect peace as your mind rests on Him. May He be your protection at the door of your home, give you sleep in quietness, and cause His peace to be within your walls. May He rescue you from those who intend evil, restrain what is violent and impure, and bring order where there has been disorder. And may He help you to love as He loves, to seek what is right through proper means, and to rest in the care of the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep and who will one day gather all His own to Himself.

We join you in asking these things in the name of Jesus Christ, trusting that God is in control and that He will work for your good and for His glory.
