Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The heaviness you describe is understood, and God sees the struggle happening within your mind even when it feels hidden from others. Scripture says He is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart and nothing is hidden from His sight, which means He does not turn away from you in these moments but looks on you with knowledge and compassion.

It is painful when negative thoughts make it hard to believe that God has good things for you, and when faith feels as small as a mustard seed and even that seems to be withering. Jesus Himself spoke of mustard seed faith and of those He called you of little faith, not to shame them but to show how gentle He is with weak faith. He reminded His followers that if God so clothes the grass of the field, how much more will He care for you. Faith does not need to be large or impressive to be real. It needs a heart that keeps turning to Him, even while rising above the feelings and reasonings that pull you down. God does not measure your faith by its size but by the One it is placed in, and His mercy toward you is far greater than any human measure of mercy.

The whole of our hope comes as grace from above. We do not keep ourselves by our own strength of positive thinking, but by continuing to look to Christ. When thoughts accuse you or tell you that God has forgotten you, bring those very thoughts to Him in prayer honestly. He already knows them and invites you to cast your anxieties on Him because He cares for you.

I pray for you now that the Lord will renew your mind day by day, that He will quiet the flood of negative thoughts and replace them with His peace and truth, and that He will strengthen the small seed of faith you have so it may grow. May He help you hear His goodness toward you, remind you that He is working all things for good for those who love Him, and give you assurance that His plans for you are good and full of hope. Keep staying in His Word, even in small portions, keep praying even with simple words, and keep sharing this burden with a trusted pastor or mature believer who can walk with you and encourage you. You are not alone in this battle, and God is faithful to keep you as you continue to trust Him, even with a faith that feels very small.

Hearing how heavy your thoughts have become and how small your faith feels right now is important, and thank you for putting it into words. What you are describing is not unusual, and it does not mean you have failed or that God has moved away from you.

Faith is not the same as forcing yourself to think positive thoughts. Scripture describes faith as the inner substance that makes hope real and the evidence that convinces us of what we cannot yet see. It is not blind. In fact it sees more than sight alone, because it trusts the character and promises of God even when feelings and circumstances point the other way. You have not seen God with your eyes, yet the evidence of His reality and His love is all around you, and faith lays hold of that.

That faith itself is a gift. You do not manufacture it by effort. We are saved by grace through faith, and even the ability to believe Jesus is something God graciously gives. Jesus said faith as small as a mustard seed is enough, and He honors that small seed when it is placed in Him. The size you feel is not the measure of its value to God.

It helps to know that even great men and women of faith had seasons when their faith wavered. Abraham, who is called a man of faith, at times acted out of fear instead of trust. Elijah stood with great courage and then later hid in discouragement. The list of faithful people in Hebrews reminds us that many died still trusting without having received everything that was promised in their lifetime. Having faith does not guarantee you will not go through suffering or struggle, and a lapse does not cancel out a life of trust.

Part of why faith feels like it is withering is often the foundation it is resting on. If faith is built on sand, on feelings, on how positive you can stay, or on whether life is going smoothly, it will shake when storms come. A solid foundation is built on sound truth, on what God has said about Himself, His grace, and His love for you. Faith needs that steady ground to stand on, and it grows as you stay rooted in that truth, in love, and in patience over time.

Many of us also carry a deep idea that God blesses us only when we are good enough, like a reward for good behavior and punishment for bad. Grace does not work that way. Grace is God's loving favor that you cannot earn. God wants to do good and glorious things for you, not because you have managed to think perfectly positive thoughts, but because He loves you. When we doubt His willingness to bless, we can actually hold back from receiving by faith what He freely offers. Your negative thoughts do not disqualify you from His goodness.

Scripture also talks about the proving of faith. When faith is tested, it is not so God can find out what is in your heart, He already knows. It is so you can see what is there and grow stronger. Saying you have faith is not enough on its own, true faith is living and active and it will show itself in some way in your life. But the order matters. Works do not create faith and they cannot replace it. Faith comes first, and then a living faith naturally begins to move you to act in line with what you believe. You do not have to produce big works to prove you have faith. Small steps of obedience, choosing to turn to God in prayer, opening His word, doing the next good thing before you, are simply the fruit that shows faith is alive, even if it feels small.

If your faith feels like it is withering today, do not despise the small seed that remains. Hold fast to what you know is true about Jesus, even while you are honest about your doubts. Bring those negative thoughts to Him plainly and ask Him to strengthen the measure of faith He has already given you. Ask Him to help you trust His grace rather than your own positivity. Over time, as you stay grounded in His word and His promises, that faith can become more solid, more loving, and more patient. God is not disappointed by your struggle, He is the one who sustains the faith He started in you, and He is faithful to keep you.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer concerning the heavy burden of negative thoughts and the difficulty you shared in thinking positive and believing that God has good things set out for you as your faith feels like a mustard seed withering away every day.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord these past days. We have asked Him to bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ as we are reminded in 2 Cor 10:5 and to renew your mind and transform you by His truth according to Rom 12:2. We have prayed that He will help you to dwell on whatever is true and pure and lovely and of good report as we are taught in Phil 4:8 and that you will be strengthened to remember that His plans for you are for good and to give you hope and a future as declared in Jer 29:11. We have also prayed that even when your faith feels so small the Lord will honor it and cause it to grow for Jesus taught that faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains in Matt 17:20.

If your request was answered and the Lord has lifted the heaviness and helped you to experience more peace and hope and stronger faith please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and the negative thoughts still weigh heavily please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ.

Father we lift our friend to You now and ask You to quiet the negative thoughts and fill the mind with Your peace and truth. Strengthen that mustard seed faith day by day and help our friend to know deeply that You have good things set out and that You are near to the brokenhearted. Restore hope and help our friend to rest in Your love and promises. We pray this in Jesus Name Amen.
