Needgod.net isn't bad but he has a problem

Humble Servant of All
He doesn't seem bad... yet. He believes in faith only which is true, happy for debate: Romans 4:13-15 - For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. But his problem is telling people that they are going to Hell, nobody can tell anyone they are going to Hell only God himself. We are not the judge. It's very bad to do so, so if anyone can get in touch with him it would be really good since we should preach the gospel to all, he needs to learn that it's bad to do that.

We have heard your heart in this and we understand your desire to see the gospel preached with love to all people, and we join with you in wanting to see truth spoken in a way that honors God.

We want to gently correct an important misunderstanding here, because what you have described as a problem is actually what Scripture commands us to do. It is true that God alone is the final Judge and only He determines eternal destiny, as James 4:12 says there is one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But God has already told us in His Word how He will judge, and He commands us to warn people of that judgment so they may repent and be saved. Jesus Himself warned often about hell, more than anyone else, and He told us in Mark 16:15-16 to go into all the world and preach the Good News to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who disbelieves will be condemned. In John 3:18 we read he who believes in him is not judged. He who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one and only Son of God, and in John 3:36 he who believes in the Son has eternal life. He who disobeys the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. To tell someone that without Christ they are under condemnation and headed for hell is not us taking God's place as Judge, it is simply repeating what God has already declared and warning them in love.

For this reason the Lord says in Ezekiel 33:8-9 when I tell the wicked, O wicked man, you will surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way; that wicked man will die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at your hand. However, if you warn the wicked of his way to turn from it, and he does not turn from his way; he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your soul. We are also told in 2 Timothy 4:2 to preach the word, be urgent in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching, and in John 7:24 do not judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Matthew 7:1 is often taken out of context, it warns against hypocritical judgment, not against speaking the truth about sin and judgment with humility and love.

We agree with you that Romans 4:13-15 is true and precious, for the promise was not through the law but through the righteousness of faith, and where there is no law there is no transgression. We are saved by grace through faith alone, as Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. Yet true saving faith is never alone in the sense of being empty, for James 2:17 and James 2:26 remind us that faith apart from works is dead. We are not saved by our works, but genuine faith in Jesus Christ will produce a new life and obedience.

We also want to make clear that it is only through Jesus Christ that anyone can be saved at all, and we notice you did not mention His name in your request. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved as Acts 4:12 says, and Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Faith alone means faith alone in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, and trusting Him alone to save us.

We pray together for you and for this ministry you mentioned.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for Your mercy and for the promise of righteousness through faith. We ask that You give us all wisdom to rightly divide Your Word and courage to speak Your truth in love as Ephesians 4:15 teaches. We pray for the one carrying this concern, that You would give him clarity and understanding of Your call to warn the lost, and that he would grow in knowledge of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus alone. We pray also for the ministry at ###, that You would strengthen them to continue preaching the full gospel with boldness and compassion, and that many who hear the warning about sin and hell would repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved. Help us all to remember that You desire all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth, and to be faithful watchmen who love enough to tell the truth. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We appreciate you taking time to share this concern. We can hear that you care both about the truth that we are saved through faith and about how that truth is shared, and you want people to hear the gospel in a way that draws them in rather than pushes them away.

One thing we have learned is that sharing good news is often a process more than a single statement. People are much more likely to listen when they feel respected and genuinely cared for, and a word that sounds final or harsh can cause someone to close up even when the intention was to warn out of love. Caring enough to be honest about serious things and caring enough to speak with gentleness both matter, and holding those together takes ongoing wisdom and humility.

If you feel led to reach out to him, we would encourage you to pray first and then, if there is a contact available, send one brief and gracious note privately. You could thank him for his stand on faith, share simply how the approach you mentioned landed on you and why it concerned you, and ask a thoughtful question rather than making an accusation. Then leave the outcome in the Lord's hands as you continue to share the gospel with others as you feel called to do.

Father, we lift up this friend and the brother at ### to you. Give wisdom and grace to both as they speak about you, help those who hear to truly hear your love and truth, and guide every conversation for your glory. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your concern for speaking the truth in love is itself a good thing, and it is right to desire that the gospel be preached to all with grace and humility.

You are right to hold fast to the promise you quoted, that the inheritance comes through the righteousness of faith and not through the law, for where the law alone is trusted it worketh wrath. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by faith alone in His finished work, and that faith itself is the gift of God. On that foundation we must stand, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

Where you speak of warning sinners of hell, there is a distinction which Scripture itself makes and which may help to settle your mind. It is true that no man is the final Judge, for the Lord alone searches the heart and will pronounce the last sentence. In that sense you are right, we are not the judge. Yet the same Lord who alone is Judge has told us plainly in His Word what His judgment will be, and He commands His servants to declare it. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. To repeat what God has said is not to usurp His throne, it is to be faithful to His message.

The question then is not whether we should warn, but how we warn. The apostle Paul reasoned and persuaded men concerning the kingdom of God, telling the story of grace and pleading with tears that they might be reconciled to Christ. Such loving persuasion is the pattern for us. We do not speak from pride or from a cold and formal spirit, as though we ourselves were not once under wrath, but from a living and loving union with Christ which makes us long that others may know His marvelous loving kindness. True humility does not keep back the truth, but it speaks the truth with a deep sense of its own nothingness, remembering that we were saved by mercy alone and trembling at the Word of God which we proclaim.

If a brother seems stern in his warning, pray for him that his zeal may be clothed with humility before, during and after his service, that he may serve the Lord with all humility of mind and with that genuine love which seeks not to condemn but to rescue. And pray also for those who hear, that the Holy Spirit would convict them of sin and lead them to Jesus, for without His work our words are in vain.

Let us therefore not forbid faithful warning, but let us ensure it is done as Scripture directs, with sincerity, with tears, and with the humble hope that Christ shall not die in vain but shall see a seed to serve Him. We will pray that the Lord will give both to you and to this brother a greater measure of that humble and loving spirit, that together you may point sinners to the only refuge from the wrath to come, which is faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
