Thank you for sharing so honestly about these long years of caring for others. To have given six years to your mother in law, and before that to have cared for your mother and your sister, is a long and often unseen faithfulness. It is understandable that you feel exhausted and anxious as you grieve her passing on September ### and carry the work of preparing the memorial on November ###. God sees both the love you have shown and the weariness you now feel.

Scripture tells us that God gives strength to the weary and wisdom to those who ask Him. You are right to ask for both. He invites those who are heavy burdened to come to Him for rest, and He promises to provide what is needed for each day. It is also good and right to ask Him to send help, for He often provides help through others. In His law He even provided for a kinsman to step in when someone could not carry the burden alone, to keep the family supported and its inheritance secure. That shows His heart for families and His care that no one should be left to carry everything alone. Pray that He will bring alongside you the practical help you need, whether in preparing for this service or in the days after, and give you freedom to receive it.

Grief and long seasons of caregiving can shape us deeply. Pain and sorrow are difficult, yet God can use them as tools to form character and to draw us closer to Himself, carving in us His image and a deeper dependence on Him. That does not make the loss less real. Your grief is real, and the feelings that rise up when you think about the past, the what ifs and why did this happen, are part of that grief. Bring those thoughts honestly to the Lord. He is not distant from your sorrow and He understands the strain of loving a family through long illness and loss.

A memorial can be a meaningful time to remember not only a life, but what God has done. In Scripture memorials were set up so that families could tell their children about the works of the Lord and remember His deliverance. The Passover feast and the communion table are given as memorials as well, not to cover sin again, for Jesus offered Himself once for all, but to remind us to look back with thanksgiving on what He has accomplished through His broken body and shed blood for the forgiveness of sins. As you plan this gathering, you have an opportunity to make it a true memorial in that sense, a time that honors the Lord and points those who come to the hope we have in Christ, the Savior God sent to save us from our sins. Even simple words, prayers, and Scriptures that speak of His mercy can help turn hearts toward Him and give comfort that lasts beyond the day.

I also hear your concern for your husband and his brother in their anger about how money was used, and for your husband who is gifted as an organizer but finds family needs hard to understand. It is common for grief to stir up questions about fairness and inheritance, and for family members to respond in different ways. Pray for grace to forgive where there is hurt, and for God to keep you from bitterness. Pray too that the Lord will help your husband grow in understanding his place in the family, to focus his care where it is most needed, and to learn to walk with you in these tender matters with wisdom and compassion. God is able to teach and to soften hearts, and He loves to build up homes where His love is practiced.

May the Lord keep you in His love in these weeks. I pray He will give you clear wisdom for each decision that must be made, physical strength for each task, and peace that guards your heart and mind in Christ. May He lift the weight of anxiety as you cast your cares on Him, provide helpers to share the load, and use this memorial to bring comfort and to remind all who gather of His goodness and faithful care.
