We join with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we agree with your desire to see the works of the devil completely destroyed and rendered powerless in your life, for we know that our Lord has already won the victory at the cross.

We take comfort that the Son of God was revealed for this purpose, that he might destroy the works of the devil 1 John 3:8, and that through His death and resurrection He has disarmed the powers of darkness. We understand your heart to want every direct and indirect influence, every plan and scheme of Satan to be halted and silenced forever, and we stand with you in claiming the authority Christ has given us, for He said, Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you Luke 10:19.

At the same time we want to encourage you with biblical balance, so that you are not discouraged. Scripture teaches us that while Satan is a defeated foe, he is not yet finally bound and cast away forever until the appointed time when God will fulfill all things Revelation 20:10. Until then he still walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8, and we are called to be sober, watchful, and to put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4.

This means our victory is not by our own power to permanently bind Satan for all time, but by daily submitting to God, resisting the devil in the name of Jesus, and he will flee from you James 4:7. We rebuke every work of the enemy that has tried to attach itself to your past, your present, and any plan for your future, and we declare that the blood of Jesus cleanses and covers all that has been, and His grace will guard all that is to come. The God of peace will quickly crush Satan under your feet Romans 16:20.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved and by which we have access to You. We thank You that Jesus has triumphed over Satan and all his works. We ask that You would silence every accusation and every lie of the enemy against our dear one, and halt every plan formed against them, whether direct, indirect, or through any influence whatsoever. Wash away every residue of the enemy's work from their past by the blood of Jesus, break every chain and stronghold that remains, and guard their future by Your Holy Spirit. Fill them with Your peace, clothe them in the full armor of God, help them to walk in obedience, holiness, and daily submission to You, resisting the devil so that he must flee. Let them walk in the freedom and authority Christ has purchased, not in fear, but in faith, knowing that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world. We ask that You would lead them into Your Word daily, into prayer, and into fellowship with other believers who will strengthen them. Let Your will be done in their life and let Your name be glorified as You keep them from evil. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We hear how deeply you want to be fully covered and free in Jesus, not just for today but from your past into your future, and to know that the enemy has no place in your life. That longing for His protection and peace is such an understandable one.

We join you in bringing that desire to Him. One thing we have found helpful for many who carry this same burden is to remember that walking with Jesus is more like long, steady training than a single moment. Small, faithful steps over time, staying close to Him in prayer, in His Word, and with other believers who know you and can pray with you, is how that sense of security and freedom grows and holds.

If you have a trusted pastor or a mature believer in your local church, it can be a real encouragement to share this exact prayer with them in person and ask them to keep praying alongside you. You do not have to carry this alone, and having someone who can listen, pray with you, and walk with you week by week makes a difference.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now. We ask for Your nearness, Your peace, and Your clear leading in their life. Guard them, strengthen them to walk closely with You each day, and help them know they are held in Your hands. Give wisdom and steady hope as they look to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your cry against the adversary is one which the Lord delights to answer, for He Himself has proclaimed deliverance to those who are under the power of darkness.

There is good news for you in the gospel. It is written, He has delivered us from the power of darkness. What a mercy this is, that poor creatures such as we are should be able to escape from that master spirit Diabolus, Satan the destroyer, who is the prince of the power of the air. This deliverance is not of your own strength, for deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. We must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for it. And the ground of it is this, that God has found a ransom. He is gracious unto him and says, Deliver him from going down to the Pit, I have found a ransom. The King's own Son has borne the penalty of all our iniquities, and the seed of the woman has bruised the serpent's head for ever. Not Sisera, but Satan has been overthrown, and we walk at liberty through the power of the great Liberator, the Lord Jesus.

You feel the fiery darts of Satan which are constantly shot against the people of God, those suggestions and insinuations which come whizzing up from hell to make the soul fear that God has forsaken it. Know that Satan will not go until he has shot his last arrow, for such is his malice that as long as he can tempt he will tempt. Yet when he had ended all his temptation against our Lord, he departed from Him, for he had failed in every temptation. So shall it be with you who are in Christ. Though your faculties may seem as chambers for Satan to dwell in for a season, when sin loses its sweetness Satan is losing his power. Our glorious Shepherd can pull His sheep out from between the lion's teeth and make them whole again, for He will not lose His sheep even at its last extremity.

Let us pray with you and for you.

O Lord our God, who has found a ransom and given commandment to save, we beseech You to deliver this soul from going down to the Pit. Keep back his soul from the Pit and his life from perishing by the sword. In the name and through the blood of Jesus Christ Your Son, who has bruised the head of the adversary, we ask that You would silence every accusation of the evil one, halt every plan of the destroyer, and restrain his power direct and indirect and by any influence whatsoever. Has not Your Word said that You have delivered us from the power of darkness, and that greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Grant to this Your servant to know experimentally that he is delivered, not merely helped to keep away from some conspicuous sin, but truly rescued from the infernal regiment of hell. Wash away all the works of darkness that have clung to him from the past, and keep him by Your power in the days to come, that he may not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. Let him see that affliction itself, when it comes, is from Your fatherly hand for his refining, and that You sit as a Refiner at the door of the furnace.

We ask this not because we are worthy, but because a ransom has been found, and Jesus Christ has put an end to the works of the devil by His cross and resurrection. Keep this soul, we pray, from the evil one, and cause him to walk in holiness and peace, giving all glory to the Deliverer. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, Amen.

Your prayer for Christ to have victory over the evil one has been heard, and we join you in looking to Him who alone saves and delivers.

Scripture teaches that the Son became man for two great purposes, to deliver us from evil and to supply us with good. By His cross He has delivered us from the curse and has brought us into sonship, so that we put on Christ and receive the Spirit of adoption. In Him we have blessing and hope, for God is the cause of all good things and it is His command that brings forth fruit in our lives.

It is true that Christ has conquered Satan, and it is also true that in this present life the evil one still seeks to hinder and tempt. Even the Apostle Paul said that Satan hindered him, and we see that Satan entered Judas only after he had separated himself from the company of the disciples and went out by night. This teaches us that we must remain close to Christ and to His Church, watchful in prayer, and steadfast in the faith. God in His wisdom does not always remove every trial at once, but He grants something greater, which is to teach us to despise evil and death and to stand firm, fixing in our minds the hope of immortality and life with Him.

Therefore we do not pray as if the struggle were already finished in a way that leaves us with nothing to do, but we pray that God would keep you, strengthen you, and make you vigilant. Flee from every sin, whether in thought or deed, and keep both body and spirit as belonging to God, for we are called to glorify Him in both. Turn from whatever has given the enemy a foothold, confess it plainly before God, and walk in obedience to His word with prayer and fasting and fellowship with faithful believers.

We pray now for you, that our Lord Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation, would cover you with His power, silence the lies of the enemy, frustrate every plan formed against you, and guard your past and your future under His mercy. May He fill you with His Spirit, lead you into all holiness, and keep you from returning to any work of darkness, whether direct or indirect. May He grant you discernment, courage, and peace, and make you firm in faith until the day when Satan is finally bound forever and every tear is wiped away.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns and who will bring His victory to its complete fulfillment. Amen.
