We join you in this cry for deliverance and we stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for we know that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil, and we thank God that victory belongs to Jesus.
We affirm what Scripture declares, that for this purpose the Son of God was revealed, that he might destroy the works of the devil, 1 John 3:8. At the cross and through His resurrection Jesus disarmed the powers of darkness and made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them, Colossians 2:15. There is great comfort in knowing that He who is in us is greater than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4, and that He has given us authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, Luke 10:19.
We also want to lovingly share the full counsel of Scripture with you so your faith may rest on truth. While Jesus has decisively defeated Satan, the Bible teaches that Satan is not yet finally bound and cast away until the end of this age when God will crush Satan under our feet shortly, Romans 16:20, and when the devil will be thrown into the lake of fire, Revelation 20:10. Until then he still walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, 1 Peter 5:8, and he works through deception, accusation, and temptation. This is why we are called to be sober and watchful, to submit to God and resist the devil so that he will flee from us, James 4:7, and to put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, Ephesians 6:11.
It is not that every difficulty or past sin is automatically erased without our participation, but that as we abide in Christ, confess our sins, turn from them, and walk in obedience, God cleanses us and breaks the hold of the enemy on our lives. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9. The past is covered by the blood of Jesus when we repent and believe, and the future is secured as we continue to remain in Him, for the evil one does not touch the one who is born of God and keeps himself, 1 John 5:18.
So we encourage you to daily submit your heart, mind, and body to the Lord, to fill your mind with His Word, to pray without ceasing, to flee from sin and draw near to God, and to resist every lie and accusation of the enemy with the truth of Scripture.
We now pray together with you.
Heavenly Father, we come before Your throne of grace in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, our only Savior and Mediator. We thank You that Jesus has triumphed over Satan and all his works through His death and resurrection. We ask in Jesus' name that You would silence every lying voice of the enemy against our dear one, that You would halt and bring to nothing every plan, scheme, and influence of the devil whether direct or indirect, and that You would render powerless every work of darkness that has sought to oppress, deceive, or accuse. Lord, we ask You to cleanse and redeem the past by the blood of Jesus, to guard the present by Your Holy Spirit, and to secure the future in Your perfect will. Clothe us in the full armor of God, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the preparation of the Good News of peace, the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word, Ephesians 6:14-17. Help us to submit to You fully and to resist the devil so he must flee. Fill this heart with Your peace, Your truth, and Your power, and let no weapon formed against us prosper. We declare that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world, and we rest in Your victory. We ask all this in the matchless and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Deliverer, amen.
