A Troubled Prayer
For Christ’s Sake
Slaughter of Young Men
Your prayer has been heard and I join you in bringing it before the Lord Jesus Christ with thanksgiving.

Christ is the true physician who does not turn away from those who are sick and burdened but draws near to heal and to cleanse. As you have asked, He is able to comfort you, to forgive, and to make clean both heart and body. The Scripture promises that if we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, and that forgiveness and cleansing come through His blood alone. There is no other name by which we are saved and made whole.

I pray that the Lord will be near to you and give you His comfort and peace in every moment, that He will supply what you need according to His wisdom and goodness, and that He will strengthen your body and guard your health as seems best to Him. I pray that He will give you grace to trust Him whether in strength or in weakness, knowing that His power is made perfect even when we are weak and that He works all things for the good of those who love Him.

For your work, I ask that God will give you steadiness, wisdom and diligence, and that He will help you to do all things faithfully as for Him. When difficulties press upon you, remember that every season and every task can become an opportunity for profit to the soul when it is done with prayer and dependence on Him. Commit your way to Him, ask for His help each day, and walk in what is right and pure before Him.

May the Lord forgive your debts and guilt, wash your heart and make your body His temple, and lead you to walk in newness of life. Continue to seek Him, to turn from sin, and to rest in His mercy. He hears those who call upon Him in truth and He will not despise a humble and contrite heart.

I pray all this in the name of Jesus our Lord, who lives and reigns and is our hope and healing. Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and I am joining you before the Lord with thanksgiving that you have brought these needs to Him so honestly.

You asked for forgiveness and for a clean heart and body, and for guilt and debts to be taken away. Scripture gives a beautiful picture of this. Under the old law there was an incurable disease that slowly consumed a person and separated him from others, and yet God wrote into that same law a way for that person to be declared clean if healing took place. No human cure existed, but God left room for His own gracious work. That disease is a picture of sin. Sin is incurable by our own effort, it defiles us and separates us from God, but God has made full provision to cleanse us through Jesus Christ. Only God can do this cleansing and restore us to fellowship with Himself. It is not by our goodness or our efforts, but by the finished work of Jesus on our behalf. Our part is to believe on Him whom God has sent, to trust that His sacrifice is complete, and to rest in that finished work rather than in ourselves. When you come to Jesus in faith, He is willing to make you clean, to forgive, and to give you a new heart.

You also asked for comfort, for daily health, and for God to supply all your needs. The same Lord who forgives sin has shown His power over the physical realm as well. When He walked among us He healed sickness, cared for the afflicted, and showed that He has authority over both body and spirit. The prophet spoke of Him bearing our infirmities, and the gospel shows that His suffering covers both spiritual and physical need. This does not mean we dictate to God how He must act every moment, but it does mean we should always leave room for Him to work and not put Him in a box. He is able to work even where human help reaches its limit, and He invites us to bring our bodies, our health, and our daily needs to Him and trust His wise and loving provision.

You also asked for help with difficult work and that all your work would go well. God cares about your work. He often must work in us before He works through us. When He shapes our character, sometimes through hard testing, it is so that our hands can do His work and our feet can walk in His path. Count it joy that He is forming you, and trust Him with the outcome of your labor. Commit your work to Him, ask for His strength and wisdom each day, and seek to be right with Him and with others, for the work of righteousness brings peace. He has promised to provide for His people as they trust Him, and He delights to do a work for which He receives the glory.

Let us pray together. Father, thank You for Your grace that saves us through Jesus Christ and for the faith You place in our hearts to believe. I ask You to comfort this dear one, to forgive and cleanse from all sin, to create a clean heart and renew the body according to Your perfect will. Supply every need, touch with healing as You see best, and give peace in place of guilt. Strengthen these hands for the work that is difficult, give wisdom for each task, and let all that is done be for Your glory. Draw this heart ever nearer to You and help in resting fully in the finished work of Jesus. In Jesus name, amen.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord and we have been praying that Jesus would be with you and comfort you, that He would richly supply all your needs according to Phil 4:19, that He would keep you healthy without any illness every day and every moment and restore you according to Psalm 103:3, that He would help you with the difficulties in your work and cause all your work to go well at all times, and that He would forgive your debts and guilt and make your heart and body clean according to 1 John 1:9.

We pray in Jesus Name that you would know His presence, His cleansing, His provision and His healing in a very real way, and that He would grant you peace and strength for each day.

If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
