Eric, the reason why you are seeking God is because He put that desire in you. He seeks us out and gives us the desire to come to Him. He's not far from you, in fact, He's right there with you and all you have to do is call on Him. He's not hiding from you, and He said if you will draw near to Him, He will draw near to you.
Ask Him to take control of your life, to change your heart, be not just your Savior, but Lord. It's a free gift. The Bible says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever would believe in Him should not perish but have eternal life. He didn't send Jesus into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He has loved you with an everlasting love, and He knew you before you were formed in your mother's belly. Jeremiah 1:5. He said if any man would come after Him, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow Him. It's called repentance...which means change the way you think, which in turn changes your behavior. It's a 180 degree turn. It's a daily, everyday following after God, not out of strict obedience that comes from a belief of "I have to", but it comes from the heart...a heart filled with gratitude and love for the Savior and Lord who first loved us. John says this about himself five times in his gospel, "the disciple whom Jesus loved."
Joh_19:26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved,
Joh_20:2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved,
Joh_21:7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord
Joh_21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
Know that you are loved by Jesus, and walk in that truth.
It's really not that we love Jesus, but that He loved us.
Father, I thank you for drawing Eric's heart and placing in him the desire to receive the love of the truth that he might be saved. Heal him, Lord, and he will be healed. Save him and he will be saved. I thank you for Your word that declares in 1 John 5:14,15, And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He heareth (-eth - continuous) us, and if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know we have the petitions that we desired of Him. Father, I ask you to open the windows of heaven for Eric to get a job that will pay over and above that which he needs to provide for his family and pay his debts. I decree and declare that he is ridiculously favored by You, and doors that have previously been shut are now being opened. Favor is compassing him about as a shield. Restore broken relationships, and bring reconciliation to pass in his life. Cause him to experience the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Bring him into a close, personal relationship with you, where the love of God so overwhelms him, that obedience from the heart is easy. Raise him up, Lord, to be that godly man you've destined him to be, who has purpose and destiny and greatness ordained for him, because you said Eric is your workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that he should walk in them. Praise God! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!
