We thank you for sharing your heart with us and for your service, and we grieve with you in this season of loneliness, uncertainty, pain from surgeries, and the weight of PTSD. We honor your desire to make godly, sound decisions rather than reacting out of hurt or confusion, and we want to seek the Lord's will together with you in Jesus' name.
We believe marriage is a sacred, lifelong covenant before God between a man and a woman, as Jesus said, What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate, Matthew 19:6. Because of that sanctity, God hates divorce, Malachi 2:16, and He also hates deceit and the use of another person for selfish gain. If what you have experienced is indeed marriage fraud, that is a serious sin of deception and abandonment, and we rebuke that kind of dishonesty while also acknowledging your pain and confusion. The abandonment you describe, your wife leaving only a month after the wedding to live eight hours away with her family, is not the picture of leaving and cleaving, nor of love that is patient, selfless and faithful as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Scripture also says, If the unbelieving departs, let them depart, 1 Corinthians 7:15, and we share this not to push you toward any quick legal decision, but to show that God sees abandonment and does not ask you to pretend it is not happening. We encourage you not to make a final decision about your marriage while you are in the midst of trauma, surgeries, and emotional distress, but to seek wise, godly counsel quickly.
Physically, emotionally, and legally we encourage you to not walk alone. Physically, your body is a temple and God cares about your healing, He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds, Psalm 147:3. Continue faithfully with your medical care, follow your doctors' counsel, and also bring your body and pain before the Lord for healing and strength. Emotionally, the Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit, Psalm 34:18. PTSD, isolation, and feeling betrayed can deepen despair, so we urge you to stay connected to a trusted local church, a mature pastor, and a Christian counselor who understands trauma, preferably one familiar with veterans' needs. Do not isolate. God has placed us in community for bearing burdens, and we encourage you to let others help you carry this. Legally, we urge you to seek qualified, godly legal counsel promptly. Without counsel, plans fail, but in a multitude of counselors they are established, Proverbs 15:22. There are veterans' legal aid services and Christian legal aid ministries that can help you understand your rights, document what has happened, and discern what is truthful and lawful regarding immigration and marriage, without acting in anger or vengeance, for Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord, Romans 12:19. Keep records, seek truth, and let the law and godly counsel guide your steps.
We notice you identified as a Christian but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ in your request, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, place your full trust in Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation, confessing your sin and believing that He died and rose again for you, If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. It is through Him we can come boldly to ask for wisdom, and If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5.
We are praying together for you now.
We lift you before our Father in Jesus' name, asking for Your healing hand upon his body through these surgeries and for Your peace upon his mind and heart as he battles PTSD and loneliness. Lord, You promise, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight, Proverbs 3:5-6, so we ask You to make his path clear and to give him godly, sound wisdom for every physical, emotional, and legal decision. Reveal truth about this marriage, guard him from further deception, and help him to forgive as You have forgiven us while also setting wise and biblical boundaries. Provide trusted pastors, counselors, and legal advocates to surround him, and bring a faithful community to stand with him so he is not alone. We pray for his wife as well, that if there has been deceit, You would convict and lead her to repentance and truth. Give him strength for today, hope for tomorrow, and the assurance that You will never leave him nor forsake him, as You have promised in Isaiah 41:10, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Comfort him, guide him, and let Your will be done in his life and marriage, in Jesus' name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7, and to let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7. Keep seeking the Lord daily in prayer and the Word, keep showing up for your medical care, and keep seeking that wise counsel. God sees you, He has not forgotten you, and He is able to work all things together for good for those who love Him, Romans 8:28. We are continuing to pray for your direction, healing, and protection.
