Nancy, you have chosen what is right--not only for yourself, but for the Lord. Truthfully, what you have done may eventually save Phil's life, because by refusing to enable him anymore, you've increased his motivation to get sober.
Heavenly Father, we all come to You in the Name of Jesus. We know that when a sparrow falls in the forest, You know about it, so how much more would You notice one of Your children suffering? Heavenly Father, You are Jehovah Shalom. I ask You to give Nancy shalom--peace--about her decision and peace in life in general. Your Word cautions us not to hang around people who endanger our sanctification, and it's hard to imagine someone more endangering to sanctification than an alcoholic. Give Nancy peace and comfort about her situation, and help her to realize that by taking a strong stand against Phil's drinking and refusing to live with his alcoholism, she has done what is pleasing in Your sight and indeed may have laid the seeds for Phil to get into a recovery program for alcoholism. We pray this in the Name of Jesus, Amen.
