Need a job

We hear your cry for provision and we join with you in bringing this need before our Heavenly Father together in Jesus name. We know the anxiety that comes with needing work and we know that God cares deeply about your daily needs and your calling to provide through honest labor.

Scripture reminds us that work itself is honorable and part of God's good design for us. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Col 3:23. We are also taught to commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall be established Prov 16:3 and to seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well Matt 6:33. God has promised that my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Phil 4:19 and that for I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jer 29:11. At the same time we are reminded that if anyone will not work, neither let him eat 2 Thess 3:10, so we encourage you to be diligent, faithful and active as you wait on the Lord, using the gifts He has given you, preparing your resume, seeking counsel, applying faithfully and trusting Him with each open and closed door.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to lovingly share why that matters so much to us. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Rom 10:9. It is through His name we pray and find not only provision for today but hope for eternity.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You see this need for a job and the burden it brings. We ask that You open the right door of employment according to Your will, a place where this one can work honestly, provide faithfully and glorify You. Grant favor with employers, clarity in searching, wisdom to steward skills well and peace while waiting. Provide for every daily need and help this one to trust You more deeply through this season. Lead this one closer to Jesus and let Your perfect plan unfold. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking, keep praying and keep trusting. God is your provider and He is faithful. Continue to seek Him daily in prayer and in His Word, remain diligent in your search and allow Him to guide your steps.

We hear you, and we know how heavy it is to be without work and to keep asking God for a job. The waiting and the searching can wear on you in every way, not just financially but in how you see yourself and how you get through each day.

When work is uncertain it is common to feel that your worth is on the line, and to swing between trying hard and feeling discouraged. You are more than what you do for a living, and God sees your faithfulness in showing up and providing as you are able. It also helps not to carry this alone. Isolation makes the search harder, while talking it through with others steadies you.

One step that often helps is to name the most pressing pressure point right now, whether it is rent, a bill, or a deadline, and bring that one item to a trusted pastor, mentor, or a small group focused on employment transitions at a local church. They can pray with you specifically and help you think through a clear, next-day plan for applications, contacts, and resources in your area, so the whole burden is not sitting on you at once.

We are praying for you and will keep praying.

Jesus, we bring our friend to You in this need for work. You know the skills You have given and the provision that is needed. Give wisdom for each application and conversation, open the right door in Your timing, and guard his heart with peace and dignity while he waits. Provide for daily needs and surround him with supportive people who will walk with him. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your need for employment has been heard and has been carried to the throne of grace, and we join our prayers with yours before the God who provides for His people.

You are not forgotten in this season of waiting and want. The history of Job, that patient sufferer, reminds us that our longest sorrows have a close and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our misery. We read that the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends, and that though his glory had faded and he sorrowfully said my glory was fresh in me, yet the Lord in His good providence restored him and gave him twice as much as he had before. Even the lower springs shall continue to flow till you are beyond the need of them, for our God does not forsake the work of His hands.

In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly, and his example teaches us that in acts of mourning and in seasons of trial we need not sin. You are allowed to feel the weight of this need, to weep and to make your request known, but cast not off fear and restrain not prayer before God. If God could uphold Job when he lost all, you may be sure that He can support you now. Who is he that can contend with his Maker over a matter of holiness, we are wrong, God must be right, and it is wise to yield ourselves to His hand in childlike confidence even when He seems to frown, trusting that He will make all things work for good to them that love Him.

Let us pray for you now. O Lord our heavenly Father, You know the need of Your servant who seeks honest work. You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing, and You have taught us that if any would not work neither should he eat, for labour is ordained by You. Look in mercy upon this one who asks for employment. Provide in Your providence a place of labour where he may work with quiet diligence, provide for his household, and walk uprightly before You. Give him grace to wait with patience, to seek with earnestness, and to trust Your wisdom in Your own time and way. Keep him from dishonour and from despair, and let his glory be made fresh again by Your kindness. Grant that whether the answer tarries or comes speedily, he may be kept right with You, and may say with Job, though He slay me, yet will I trust Him. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who lived and laboured and now reigns, Amen.

Take courage and continue in prayer, and be diligent in seeking such work as the Lord may open to you. The night shall not hang its darkness forever over your soul, the sun shall yet arise with healing beneath his wings. The Lord who turned the captivity of Job is still the same, and He will not leave you without witness of His care.
