We stand together in agreement, lifting up our national and world leaders before the throne of grace, as Scripture commands us. The Word of God is clear in 1 Timothy 2:1-4, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth."
First and foremost, we pray for the salvation of these leaders, for there is no other name under heaven by which they can be saved except the name of Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Without Christ, their decisions, no matter how well-intentioned, will ultimately fall short of God’s perfect will. We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), drawing them to repentance and faith in Jesus. May they come to know Him as Lord and Savior, for only then can they truly lead with godly wisdom and humility.
We pray for wisdom to be poured out upon them, as Solomon received when he asked for an understanding heart to govern God’s people (1 Kings 3:9). Father, grant them discernment to distinguish between truth and deception, between righteousness and wickedness. May they seek Your counsel above all else, for "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10). Surround them with godly advisors who will speak truth in love, not seeking their own gain but the welfare of the people they serve.
Lord, we ask that You set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 declares, "Set a watch, Lord, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." Let their words bring healing, not division; truth, not deception. May they speak with the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 instructs, "The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of fools gush out folly." Let their leadership reflect the heart of Micah 6:8, that they would "do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with You."
We pray against the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to divide, destroy, and deceive. The devil is a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), and we rebuke his plans to sow discord among nations, political parties, and peoples. We ask for angelic protection over our leaders, as Psalm 91:11-12 promises, "For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone." May Your heavenly hosts encamp around them, shielding them from physical and spiritual harm.
Father, we also pray for unity among leaders, that they would seek common ground for the good of the people, as Psalm 133:1 declares, "See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in unity!" Let them put aside partisan pride and personal ambition, working together to uphold justice, righteousness, and peace. We ask that You expose and silence false prophets and false narratives that seek to mislead the public (Titus 1:11). Let truth prevail in every sphere, for Your Word is truth (John 17:17).
We humble ourselves before You, seeking Your face as 2 Chronicles 7:14 instructs, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Heal our nations, Lord, from the inside out. Eradicate corruption, greed, and injustice from the halls of power. Raise up leaders who will govern with integrity, fearing You above all else.
We long for the day when righteousness will reign fully and finally, when Jesus Christ, the true Anointed One, returns to establish His kingdom on earth (Revelation 11:15). Until that day, we pray for leaders who will reflect His character—leaders who love mercy, act justly, and walk humbly with You. May they be instruments of Your peace, bringing order and godliness to the nations.
We lift all these petitions in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we have access to the Father (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). We pray with confidence, knowing that You hear us when we call (1 John 5:14). Strengthen us to continue in prayer, intercession, and thanksgiving for our leaders, trusting that Your will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Amen.
