We join with you in interceding for our national and world leaders, as the Scriptures exhort us to pray for all in authority. Let us come together in unity and lift up those whom God has placed over our lives, as instructed in Romans 13:1-2:
"Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they that withstand will receive to themselves judgment."
We thank God for the leaders of our nations, and we pray that He would grant them intelligence, character, protection, and godly wisdom. We ask that God would set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips." We pray that they would be given the tongue of the wise, as Proverbs 15:2 tells us, "The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of fools blurts out folly."
We pray that our leaders would be surrounded by godly counsel and that their leadership would promote unity and righteousness, with no bitterness or rivalry. May they act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, as instructed in Micah 6:8: "He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?"
We ask that God would give His angels charge over our leaders, as Psalm 91:10-12 says, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone."
We lift up these prayers in the name of Jesus Christ, for it is in His name that we have access to the Father. As it is written in John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Let us always remember that it is through Jesus Christ alone that we can approach God's throne of grace with confidence, as Hebrews 4:16 tells us: "Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need."
Father, we ask that You would have mercy on our leaders and guide them in Your truth. We pray that they would seek Your will and live according to Your Word. We ask that You would surround them with godly influence and protect them from evil. We pray that our leaders would be a reflection of Your character and that their decisions would bring honor and glory to Your name. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
