We join together in lifting up national and world leaders, as the Bible instructs us in 1 Timothy 2:1-2, "I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence."
We thank God for placing these leaders in authority, as Romans 13:1-2 reminds us, "Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and they who withstand will receive to themselves judgment."
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our national and world leaders. We thank You for their lives and for placing them in positions of authority. We pray for intelligence, character, and protection over them and their families. Grant them godly wisdom and guidance in their decisions, and set a guard over their mouths, as Psalm 141:3 says, "Set a watch, Yahweh, before my mouth. Keep the door of my lips."
Surround them with godly counsel, and let their leadership promote unity and righteousness. May they "do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with" You, Lord, as Micah 6:8 teaches us. Give Your angels charge over our leaders, both here and abroad, as Psalm 91:10-12 assures us, "No evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. For he will give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. They shall bear you up in their hands, so that you won't dash your foot against a stone."
We pray for godly unity among political parties, both nationally and internationally, that they would agree on important issues and work together for the good of all nations, as Psalm 133 declares, "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity!"
Father, whether intentionally or not, every prayer request is heard by you only in the name of Jesus Christ. Your word tells us: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all; the testimony in its own times" (1 Timothy 2:5-6 WEB) and "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" (Acts 4:12 WEB). We pray the world leaders come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and that their actions would reflect His love.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
We encourage everyone to continue praying fervently for our leaders, as their decisions impact not only our nations but the world at large. Let us be reminded of 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
